As for silver versus gold on the scarf ring, I vote for gold. To me, gold & orange are in the same color "family." Wearing a gold scarf ring doesn't limit the rest of your jewelry to gold, BTW. When I was growing up, if you wore silver earrings, you had to also wear a silver bracelet. Not any more, I'm glad to say... at least according to the fashion magazines! You can even mix up necklaces: a silver one and a gold one together! (Isn't it nice that the rules have loosened up?);)

Although I was reading an article last night that recommended wearing a ball gown with sneakers. Now that, to my mind, was going a bit too far! I suppose if you're twenty...:p

No, seriously... I'm not making it up, or making a joke! It was in the October issue of one of the U.S. fashion magazines. Elle, perhaps, or Vogue. I couldn't believe it either, so I looked to see if the writer was making a joke. But no... it was in an article about "breaking the rules."

Well, I'm all for that (a little bit) but a ball gown with sneakers goes too far! Unless, as I said before, you are twenty. Then you can walk around in a potato sack with a bit of string for a belt, and you will look beautiful!;)

Seattle Opera usually attracts a variety of attendees, including patrons in dress circle wearing jeans and fleeces, but one favorite is a young lady who commonly comes in a ballgown with sneakers and a blue mohawk. Hey, at least she's making an effort!
