We are so fortunate to have you in this thread, croisette. Thank you for your willingness to post pictures of your scarves every week; it is like going to an Hermes museum!

Your Ledoux collection is phenomenal... each is beautiful in its own way, and isn't it interesting that he used different styles, depending on his subject matter? Not all the carré artists artists do this; some artists have a distinctive style for their entire body of work (I'm thinking particularly of Kermit Oliver, but I'm sure the more experienced silkies can think of others). But Ledoux uses one "look" for horses, another for flags, and Caparacon is unlike anything else in his collection.

Now I'm going back and studying your scarves again!:smile1:

AB-so-LUTE-leeeeee! I just bought my birthday present to myself (my birthday is on December 25th), so I say go for it!

*enable*:giggles:
So, lets see ... how many birthday presents does that make that you have bought for yourself this year? :roflmfao: I like the way you think - too much of a good thing is .... GREAT!

So well done, Florasun, and a lovely cw too!
Thank you, dear Croisette!

Elaine, I think this is the only release of this silk...but I am no Yoda...Love the ducks--have had in blue and red and both have flown away. This is fabulous on you. What an ensemble.

So sorry to hear about the wind Florasun and Elaine's water. I wish we had some water here in CA, but the wind is blowing my world away. I am thinking I'm going to see a goat flying through the air---like an Axis Mundi look!

That's what has me puzzled, sparkle. I've only ever heard of one release. But I've seen photos of the HERMES logo on the bottom of the scarf both with and without the © beside it (on authentic scarves). Perhaps I'll post it on the reference thread and let the experts have a go at it!

You're "waterless" in your part of California? I'm on the central coast, and we finally had a bit of rain yesterday morning, but as you say, it's mostly wind. Nothing like florasun's wind storms, though, thank heavens! Our wind comes off Monterey Bay every afternoon at 2PM. You can set your watch by it!:smile1:

Here is Esmerelda modeling my only Ledoux, Musee. Excuse my sloppy rendition of the Robee knot. If anyone has figured out how to keep the "pleats" straight please let me know! oops this photo is HUGE. :-s

What a gorgeous CW, florasun! The knot looks interesting, but short of (gasp!) ironing the pleats, I don't know how they would stay in plac,e other than keeping the scarf on Esmerelda. Which sort of defeats the purpose, LOL!

So sweet of you, Elaine, I'm glad you enjoy the pics, bc it's work to pull them out. And I hear my DH ... it's really a H-museum. Btw I love your blue CeI GM, it's gorgeous!

Hmmmm.... I guess you're right. Daimyo was sort of an early birthday present.

But, you see (are you ready for the rationalization?) Daimyo was a scarf birthday present. What I just bought is my jewelry birthday present. :D

Oopsie! Sorry for the humongous size of the photo. I have no idea how/why that happened!

Oh I love these! Very modern little fishies. I presume this is from one of the craftsmen in your area? Are they gold and oxidized silver? And your rationalization makes perfect sense. One gift per category.

Ditto Lanit (above). Shoes are great too!

Croisette!! Gasp gasp! I have to post this before you do: "La Marine a Rames"; a collaboration between Ledoux and Vladimir Rybaltchenko

La Marine a Rames is a fascinating scarf, Jahna! I had no idea that the two men collaborated. Have other artists collaborated, as well? I know about "Anamorphéee" (Charlotte Halpern & Bertrand Houdin), but they always work as a team. How about other artists who typically work alone, and then they do one collab? I should imagine it's pretty unusual!

Sparkle, Elaine, Pierina, Florasun - TY for the GF love. The multiquote is not working yet again so I am buggin' that I cannot on you lovely ladies individually.

Croisette - u have outdone yourself on ur magnifique Ledoux scarves. I can count that we are twins on 5 of what u have shown. :smile1:

If noone will be showing, I will probably do Trois Mosquetaires for theme. I did show his Vielle Marine last wk.

Sparkle - TY for opening Ledoux week. I believe that Ledoux's geneology is somewhere on the web and his yr of death is 1974 the last time I checked.

My only other "water" scarf, besides En Course, but quite dear to me: La Mare aux Canards. This was my very first Hermès carré, purchased in Harrods when DH and I were vacationing in London.

I have studied and studied, but don't know if this is the first issue or not. It has the © beside the logo, but no ©HERMES elsewhere on the scarf. The scarf was first issued in 1981, and I bought it in 1986, but as marietouchet and seton keep reminding me, Hermès was much kinder in those days about returns: customers often kept them for months, and even years, before returning them!

If anyone can clarify whether I have an original issue, I'd be forever grateful.:flowers:

Elaine - Considering the yr that u bought it, it looks like yours is the 1985 reprint. Here is a pic from the 1985 How to Tie pamplet. This IS ur cw, no?
