Picked out a birthday scarf today. I was inspired by Scarf1 - but unfortunately our store did not have Ballet Aquatique in the beautiful pink and blue colorway. I did find this one in juane, vert d'eau, vert. Normally I don't do yellow, so this is quite a departure for me. Modeling with a very old scarf ring.

and meee! Irresistible scarf. So happy to be twins with you once again.

I bought this scarf in France to make 'closure' to a phase of my life, it was very fitting design and is a very important scarf to me, the fact that it is so beautiful makes it more delightful to wear. And those little bits of black make it smart wear with a little black suit or dress at any time of the year, and not just for a Summer wardrobe (love your shade of lipstick).

papertiger, congrats on the new phase of life coming! Your description of the black dots of smart are dead on accurate. And that dang white hem. Lovely dear.

My only other "water" scarf, besides En Course, but quite dear to me: La Mare aux Canards. This was my very first Hermès carré, purchased in Harrods when DH and I were vacationing in London.

I have studied and studied, but don't know if this is the first issue or not. It has the © beside the logo, but no ©HERMES elsewhere on the scarf. The scarf was first issued in 1981, and I bought it in 1986, but as marietouchet and seton keep reminding me, Hermès was much kinder in those days about returns: customers often kept them for months, and even years, before returning them!

If anyone can clarify whether I have an original issue, I'd be forever grateful.

Elaine, I think this is the only release of this silk...but I am no Yoda...Love the ducks--have had in blue and red and both have flown away. This is fabulous on you. What an ensemble.

Sorry for monopolizing the thread, girls! I am riding out a windstorm, hoping the power doesn't fail. One of our trees was blown over! Instead of going out for Sunday brunch tomorrow, I will be out checking for damage and raking up debris.

So sorry to hear about the wind Florasun and Elaine's water. I wish we had some water here in CA, but the wind is blowing my world away. I am thinking I'm going to see a goat flying through the air---like an Axis Mundi look!

Because of this photo I am craving this scarf! Now I am guiltily contemplating ordering it, even though I have already purchased a birthday scarf for myself as well as the one from DH (the Ballet Aquatique that I posted yesterday) hmmm - could it be considered an early Christmas gift?

AB-so-LUTE-leeeeee! I just bought my birthday present to myself (my birthday is on December 25th), so I say go for it!

Florasun, as I wore these I thought of you laughing. Yep, three days in a row, and as I was telling another silkie recently, this design has overwhelmed me with its shading beauty and yep, had to get another....the pink/iris one. I look forward to hearing about your "Thanksgiving" present hun---work it. Not early Christmas. Heck, what about a Halloween Present?

I just looked up "October Holidays"... October 22 was National Nut Day (I'm not kidding!:giggles sparkle, don't you think florasun needs to celebrate it with a new scarf? She's already 4 days overdue!

The colors on your Pavois simply glow, sparkle. Thank you for a wonderful introduction to Ledoux. Sadly, I don't own any of his scarves, but I look forward to enjoying them by proxy this week.

Happy birthday, florasun, and congratulations on a stunning new scarf! I think this CW looks lovely with your dark hair. And I adore the way you knotted it! Did you fold it on the rectangle, and then slide it in opposite directions through the scarf ring? It's a wonderful knot... it makes the scarf look like a little bow-tie!
