Ladies,
My belated thanks to you for the kind compliments on my pink Passage a Tokyo rosette look.

Rosamonde - The blue on blue look is heavenly gorgeous! Great idea!

birkinmary - I can always expect exquisite pics from you. Your pics never disappoint. Quite a pleasure for the eyes.

Lanit - Hope you'll have more free time soon dear. Scarf-wearing season is finally here.

ElainePG - I have enjoyed your scarf musings. Keep them (and the photos) coming!

Melora24 - It's so nice of you to provide mod pics and ideas.

Thank you for that, Chestnutty... I've been worried that I was babbling on a bit too much.:p I adore this thread, and promise to keep posting photos!

One minute of confession: I just cheated on H. On my walk around the neighborhood last weekend, I stopped by a small indie boutique and fell for the colorway of this non-brandname infinity scarf. I love the colors so much, so fresh and vibrant, and the price was less than CA sales tax on a H twilly, so heck why not! :D
And here's my score (love that it matched my Zara tweed jacket nicely)
It's a lucky scarf! Do you know the symbolism of the hand? (I won't bother you with it if you do, but if you want more detail let me know and I'll explain. You might see in some of my photos that I wear a pendant with that same hand on it!)

Thank you,ElainePG! Your history is very interesting for me. I appriciate your attitude toward your working fashon. I think I'm following your style. A little rebellion with H scarves!
I'm glad you enjoyed it, cherryblossum! I believe that in most sectors of the U.S. business world "business fashion" has loosened up a bit, but I don't know about other countries, and I'm guessing that in certain professions (law, probably, and banking) things haven't changed much. I'm all for using fashion as rebellion, LOL!

Would you please tell us what you purchsed after a long time? I'd like to know which scarf made you decide to be back to H!
Good question, cherryblossum! It was Lumières de Paris, by Natsuno Hidaka, a 2006 issue. I found it in a local consignment shop just a few months ago, at an incredibly good price, and fell in love with it. I honestly prefer the older designs to the newer ones (Lumières is something of an exception for me), so I've been hunting on all the trustworthy reseller websites ever since!

Here is the scarf that "brought me back"... I apologize that the picture is not very good. I am still learning how to take pictures of my collection. What I like about this scarf is that it reminds me of the stained glass windows you see in the old Paris churches.

Thank you Rosamonde, it's very easy to do, just fold both scarves in bias one on top of the other, twist them slightly and do a double knot, I can't wait for your pictures using this technique.

This is beautiful, sophieg!

I love the way you've tied your twillys together, bunnycat.

Thank you Elaine, I'm also very fond of green scarves. I have told Rosamonde how to tie them, it's very easy, I hope it helps.

Thank you Chestnutty, I'm glad you liked them.

This is great, and the jacket is gorgeous.

Thank you for the advice, birkinmary. I'm going to give it a try, though I'm not sure if I can get another picture in this week. Maybe Saturday. But I'll definitely try it in the future, especially in the winter, when a little extra warmth around the neck is helpful! :smile1:

Today's combos are a little more elaborated, I've used the same technique for both of them and the final result looks exactly like a GM. I hope you like them:

These are fabulous, birkinmary! You say you tide them as you would a GM? I love the way the little know comes forward in the front of one of the ends, but for the life of me I cannot "deconstruct" the knotting.

You are so creative... and your scarf collection is incredible!

Thank you, dear Elaine!
I got a good chuckle out of your business outfit post - I'm a consultant, and DC is still pretty staid when it comes to clothing, and I have meetings today... so I'm wearing a navy blue skirt suit with a scarf! And my pearl earrings, although no matching necklace and my top is aqua, not a white dress shirt :sweatdrop:

Your post made me laugh, too! It sounds as though the business world hasn't changed all that much in the past 20 years after all, though you'd think it had, looking at the September issues of Vogue and Elle, LOL! I suppose it depends on your work environment, and you're right, DC is... as you say... "staid."

Elaine, that brought back memories! And I added little silk thin neckties with my corporate suits.....the forerunner of my twillies, I guess but twillies are ever so much more fun!!!

Oh! I had forgotten those little skinny neckties! I had a few of them... you could tie them like a men's mini-tie, or you could make them into a sort of bow. Lily Tomlin used to have a routine about women's business attire during that period that went something like this: "Your blouse is embellished with something that's sort of a bow, and sort of a ruffle, and sort of a collar... and it doesn't offend anyone, because you don't look good in it.":p

Elaine, your post made me long for those days when I also wore severe cut navy and gray suits. I was the youngest among the members of my department, most of them men as in those days women were mostly PA's. The dress code bored my immensely, my touch of rebellion was shoes, that I freely used like a signature feature. I should have used scarves instead!!!!! Thank you for the memories

Good for you, for rebelling with shoes! They're a great way to stand out from the crowd (pun intended:p). My shoes were as boring as my suits; I standardized on Ferragamo pumps, with 2.5" heels... I had them in a variety of colors, to match my outfits. They were very pretty, and actually rather comfortable, but I certainly wouldn't call them "rebellious." Which brands did you like?

Hi ladies,

I've been a lurker here for a while, and today I have decided to share. I have a very small collection of H scarves - only 5 so far, and one is still en route to me - but I love the "Charmante aux Animaux" SO much that I have it in 2 cws! They both fit largely with separate parts of my wardrobe, so imagine my surprise to find they actually work TOGETHER....

What beautiful scarves, musicmom! I agree with you about Charmante aux Animaux, though I don't own it (yet!). I can certainly see why you'd buy it in two CWs... how could you possibly choose? And if it goes with two totally different parts of your wardrobe, even better.

But you're absolutely right, the two together look gorgeous!

I've been trying without much success to make two scarves work! Today I finally had some time to play, but it has been rainy and dark, so the colours are not looking quite right.

But here are:
Qalamdan + Ex Libris en Kimonos

and

L'Art d'Ecrire + Carnaval de Venise (both are navy and not at all black, as they appear)

Qalamdan + Ex Libris en Kimonos is a brilliant pairing, momasaurus. I own Ex Libris, and it's such a strong pattern I've not been able to figure out what on earth I could pair it with this week. I've been completely stymied! I don't own Qalamdan, and I wouldn't dream of stealing your idea anyway;), but I see what you've done: Qalamdan is a softer, more subtle pattern, and also more geometric and "regular," as opposed to Ex Libris, which is sort of all over the place.

So if I get ambitious on Saturday, I will see if I have something simple & geometric to pair with my Ex Libris. Thank you for inspiring me!

Thank you, Elaine. Ex Libris already looks like 4 or 5 scarves, doesn't it? I noticed that my Qalamdan is the exact same colors as my ELEK, so I gave it a try. Looking forward to seeing your creative combos!
