Hello scarf friends, I haven't posted in months. The precious little newfy puppy we brought home in November turns out to have kidney disease and an antibiotic-resistent UTI and bladder infection likely worsened or made more likely by her kidney problems. Fortunately the kidney situation is mild and aside from making her prone to UTIs, it may not be that bad, we will see I suppose. We just need to get her UTI cured so it doesn't cause further damage. Because she's incontinent at times, we have not been able to get out much. Scarf and shawl wearing is on a bit of a hiatus. I've been following along here regularly and loving all of your beautiful treasures.

Sharing an archive shot of a beloved shawl which has a gogeous, strking border - Act III - and my Early America 90 which is a crossover from last week, featuring a rendition of hand cut papercraft in its border, and big fluffy dogs. We're so saddened and worried for our little Coco bear and hope she can make a full recovery and go on to live a relatively normal life.

Good day, All, sending you good cheer as you show off your beautiful hems, fringes and borders. Thank you all for your participation and it is great to see @Thelittlefoxes and @EtsyBoss afain . This week has been challenging for a few reasons, including my own need to take care of a health issue, so I am just a part-time fearless leader.

How our H constructs its contrasting and printed hems is something of a mystery to me and I would love to hear your thoughts and knowledge about this process. Examining the fabric it seems that they print the hem color(s) along with the rest of the scarf then roll and stitch it. Curiosites has a bonus - gorgeous border and a delightful contrasting hem!

Oh wow 30 pages behind that I hope to catch up on, and I see our wonderful scarfies @Thelittlefoxes and @Awillow have been on this week! You both were so missed and we all just love seeing you and your amazing collections .

I am gathering that this week is about borders and hems in some manner, but will get better idea when catch up.

I thought of and put on pytheas, like some other scarfies. And I wore a new-in of the 140 terracotta Orphee most of the day. Thank you to all the enablers on here!! Such an easy wear. Sorry for the horrible modeling pic. I wore it all day in the cold and took a quick snap when I got home, before taking it off.

And how about some fringe as part of the design? One of my New Year's Resolutions is to put my grail scarves more into rotation and not treat them like preciosities or rare collectibles (though they are that, too!). There are fringe-y animal pelts and beautiful layered borders on La Femme aux Semelles du Vent. And while these are hardly the snow covered mountains Alexandra trekked across, it is a snowy background! The beach has a frozen sheet of snow at the tide line which my dogs think is a fabulous development...

Jereni - you picked up the scarf that has tempted me most recently. This colorway is similar to other scarves I own, so I have resisted it's siren song - so far anyway. Lovely!

Staying warm this winter with All’Orto Botanico di Palermo, this colorway with its contrast hem is uplifting!

Lovely-- I do like the colors and hem on this cw-- definitely a harbinger of spring @Zhen.

Cavalier en Forms is one that I think is a bit underrated. I’ve never seen a bad colorway and the design manages to be both subtle yet impactful when worn. I have the shawl version in similar colors, which I tried on a whim, but have found goes with just about everything in my closet. You’re so right on the ExLenK vibes.

Oh, I agree completely @PoliticalGal-- I love the combination of the border, the lush foliage, and the geometrics at the center. So cool. I would love to see your CSGM-- I honestly am not sure I am done with this design! Nice to hear itis so versatile!

How beautiful in red @Nomad-- perfect "crossover" mod shot! I wear RdS a lot but don't seem to post it enough!

While not a contrast hem, I am fascinated by the pleats on the plisse. This is a new-to-me format, and I'm honestly terrified to tie or stretch the silk! I love the crisp white border against the lavender on this bandana.

Gorgeous on you @Jereni!!! I am so delighted you got this one-- it is truly a stunner and a timeless and beautiful classic. True confessions: this was the other cw I got of Orto also, though it has been stashed in Mr. Nola's gift vault for the moment... I too find it hard to photograph the Orto cws accurately-- perhaps the very detailed line work has an effect on the light, like certain paintings.

The scarves with decorated corners occasionally reference the design’s theme or are actually part of the design. While not a contrast hem, I am fascinated by the pleats on the plisse. This is a new-to-me format, and I'm honestly terrified to tie or stretch the silk! I love the crisp white border against the lavender on this bandana.

Barbette, first, the lavender bandana and sweater look gorgeous. Such a beautiful color that is one I typically don’t wear so I admire it heartily. Please, what is the design?
Second, this goes out to @LKBNOLA , too and others who approach plisses with a bit of trepidation. I have several plisses. They wear like IRON and are tough! And while it is true that they can relax after time, I find that they spring back like little slinkies with no trouble, especially if they are folded neatly and placed in their round boxes after use and if needed, a bit of airing. The ones I have purchased over several years that had tight pleats still have them. Only two have pretty relaxed pleats but they were received that way and were great deals. I only have one now. Even a relaxed plisse can look good and can be a bit more malleable.

Busy days so I have not been able to send all the individual praises for the gorgeous scarves demonstrated this week - apologies!

But oh how many beauties there are in here - both the scarves and those wearing Them! - though the borders of Sieste and Tout Les bateaux have a special place in my heart 😊

I tried to Pick out some other good borders from the pile, just unceremoniously modelled including earphones due to a saturday podcast binging streak.

Well, I have a lot of pleasant catching up to do in just a day! A big thank you 🧡 to @Karenska for a lovely week. Borders and hems are two of my favorite features of scarf designs so I always love to be surprised by what I don't know or haven't focused on as well as to revisit the tried and true, and the iconic ones we all love. I was going to end with striped hems but decided instead to show hems and borders on some Giant Triangles. I was inspired by @Karenska's posts of Jungle Love and Fleurs et Papillons de Tissus as well as her lovely Tulipomanie. This is a format people either love or don't but it is undeniable that the GT hem and border game is on point! (Full disclosure: I am a fan of the format and even have a new SS25 to debut soon 😃 )

Your CSGM collection is magnificent... I do think you would love the blue Bateaux-- a very different feeling from the stunning black. (And thank you! The blue Amazones is a delight; there was a darker one released as well and some confusion between the two but this one is light and lovely...)
