Hello scarf friends, I haven't posted in months. The precious little newfy puppy we brought home in November turns out to have kidney disease and an antibiotic-resistent UTI and bladder infection likely worsened or made more likely by her kidney problems. Fortunately the kidney situation is mild and aside from making her prone to UTIs, it may not be that bad, we will see I suppose. We just need to get her UTI cured so it doesn't cause further damage. Because she's incontinent at times, we have not been able to get out much. Scarf and shawl wearing is on a bit of a hiatus. I've been following along here regularly and loving all of your beautiful treasures.
Sharing an archive shot of a beloved shawl which has a gogeous, strking border - Act III - and my Early America 90 which is a crossover from last week, featuring a rendition of hand cut papercraft in its border, and big fluffy dogs. We're so saddened and worried for our little Coco bear and hope she can make a full recovery and go on to live a relatively normal life.
Thank you all for making this place a beautiful one of support and respite. Sending much love

And a debut for my wonderful Collections Imperiale with its gorgeous borders and details-- I searched for this cw for some time and late last year I found it in an antique shop!!! Perfectly folded and in a box alongside some cloisonné knickknacks and a few bangles. I opted to buy the shawl

Dear K, those hems are phenomenal. It was an inspired move on h's part - quite a departure. Love that lime green!! Hope you are on the mend.Good day, All, sending you good cheer as you show off your beautiful hems, fringes and borders. Thank you all for your participation and it is great to see @Thelittlefoxes and @EtsyBoss afain. This week has been challenging for a few reasons, including my own need to take care of a health issue, so I am just a part-time fearless leader.
How our H constructs its contrasting and printed hems is something of a mystery to me and I would love to hear your thoughts and knowledge about this process. Examining the fabric it seems that they print the hem color(s) along with the rest of the scarf then roll and stitch it. Curiosites has a bonus - gorgeous border and a delightful contrasting hem!

Jacquard- I love this tulipomanie with your sweater. Stunning!Late to comment, but this is so lovely! Congratulations on this new addition.
Happy to be of service haha!
Thank you Awillow, for your kind comment. It is all the CSGMs work, none of mine really. It ties like a dream…
Dear @EtsyBoss I hope your Coco will make a full recovery. Being a new dog mom myself, I cannot even bring myself to imagine the stress you‘ve been going through..

Nomad, these are knockouts!! I adore the hem on that Pytheas, and that Orphee is perfect on you with that sweater.Oh wow 30 pages behind that I hope to catch up on, and I see our wonderful scarfies @Thelittlefoxes and @Awillow have been on this week! You both were so missedand we all just love seeing you and your amazing collections
.
I am gathering that this week is about borders and hems in some manner, but will get better idea when catch up.
I thought of and put on pytheas, like some other scarfies. And I wore a new-in of the 140 terracotta Orphee most of the day. Thank you to all the enablers on here!! Such an easy wear. Sorry for the horrible modeling pic. I wore it all day in the cold and took a quick snap when I got home, before taking it off.

Lkb - it is your fault entirely if I fall down the fringed scarf rabbit hole. That first Mumbai, especially, is to die for.Good morning! I don't have much in the way of fringed edges, but here they are:

And how about some fringe as part of the design? One of my New Year's Resolutions is to put my grail scarves more into rotation and not treat them like preciosities or rare collectibles (though they are that, too!). There are fringe-y animal pelts and beautiful layered borders on La Femme aux Semelles du Vent. And while these are hardly the snow covered mountains Alexandra trekked across, it is a snowy background! The beach has a frozen sheet of snow at the tide line which my dogs think is a fabulous development...

Jacquard- I love this tulipomanie with your sweater. Stunning!
Lovely-- I do like the colors and hem on this cw-- definitely a harbinger of spring @Zhen.Staying warm this winter with All’Orto Botanico di Palermo, this colorway with its contrast hem is uplifting!
Oh, I agree completely @PoliticalGal-- I love the combination of the border, the lush foliage, and the geometrics at the center. So cool. I would love to see your CSGM-- I honestly am not sure I am done with this design! Nice to hear itis so versatile!Cavalier en Forms is one that I think is a bit underrated. I’ve never seen a bad colorway and the design manages to be both subtle yet impactful when worn. I have the shawl version in similar colors, which I tried on a whim, but have found goes with just about everything in my closet. You’re so right on the ExLenK vibes.
I would love that, too. Your Cavaliers is so pretty with its lush leaves.
Thank you @Karenska and @Maedi!Thank you, Jereni. Re: Cheval Vague, love it, too, but it didn’t really work. @LKBNOLA ’s is gorgeous.
How beautiful in red @Nomad-- perfect "crossover" mod shot! I wear RdS a lot but don't seem to post it enough!A quick hop on to show a wonderful border along the edges and a wonderful contrast hem of robe du soir.

Congratulations on the plissé @Barbette (I find them a bit scary, too) its a beauty. But I absolutely adore your mod shot of the bandana-- absolutely beautiful styling all around. Bookmarked! While not a contrast hem, I am fascinated by the pleats on the plisse. This is a new-to-me format, and I'm honestly terrified to tie or stretch the silk! I love the crisp white border against the lavender on this bandana.

Very pretty, twin! I thought of this one for @AnnaE's theme also @SilkCouture. Nice description.Moving from last week’s celebration of beautiful edges to this week’s vibrant Lunar New Year theme, I’m honoring both with L’Ivresse de l’Infini. Its rich red tones, intricate design, busy border, and contrasting hem are a fun way to bring both themes together. Gorgeous on you @Jereni!!! I am so delighted you got this one-- it is truly a stunner and a timeless and beautiful classic. True confessions: this was the other cw I got of Orto also, though it has been stashed in Mr. Nola's gift vault for the moment...New ins must be shared!!! That first Mumbai, especially, is to die for.
These are fabulous on you, KL!This week is so full of inspiration for future acquisitions! A big thanks from me and absolutely no thanks from my wallet 🤭I did not have enough time to comment properly, only to give 😍 to all your beautiful posts!
I managed to wear some of my grails this week. All of them were lucky finds during last year.
First my precious La Femme aux Semelles de Vent, which I had been hunting for years!
And then Tous les Bateaux du Monde. Both with beautiful borders. Both in nice condition under retail price.

Dear K - I love presentation and have fallen for it in several colorways.Good day, dear friends, such a parade of favolosas this week! Thank you. Today I want to talk about a kind of border or perhaps framework is the better word. The scarves with decorated corners occasionally reference the design’s theme or are actually part of the design. Sometimes the corner decoration is set amidst another frame - a circle, a square, a block. These design elements and details contribute to the overall beauty of the scarf. Here are some examples:

Lkb - your collection is beautiful. I especially love your Flamingo Party!Well, I have a lot of pleasant catching up to do in just a day! A big thank you🧡 to @Karenska for a lovely week. Borders and hems are two of my favorite features of scarf designs so I always love to be surprised by what I don't know or haven't focused on as well as to revisit the tried and true, and the iconic ones we all love. I was going to end with striped hems but decided instead to show hems and borders on some Giant Triangles. I was inspired by @Karenska's posts of Jungle Love and Fleurs et Papillons de Tissus as well as her lovely Tulipomanie. This is a format people either love or don't but it is undeniable that the GT hem and border game is on point! (Full disclosure: I am a fan of the format and even have a new SS25 to debut soon 😃 )

I don't know how I dropped the quote on that gorgeous Cavaliers du Caucasse and your other beauties are just TDF and as always, perfectly presented and styled @Croisette7. Your CSGM collection is magnificent... I do think you would love the blue Bateaux-- a very different feeling from the stunning black. (And thank you! The blue Amazones is a delight; there was a darker one released as well and some confusion between the two but this one is light and lovely...)
Well, if I owned this I would consider myself in Blue Heaven @PoliticalGal -- you look fabulous.
OMG. If this were an entry in the "Who Wore it Better" I nominate Lino, hands down. Sorry @Jacq1-- you have some competition...
The hem against that caban or marine border really does add something special @EtsyBoss. It nicely echoes the checkerboard section, too!
You do the Edot Knot so well @mktlim! A nice way to feature borders and hems...
Thank you-- I would like to think that somehow, through TPF magic, the one aorund my neck is your former ELeK @Maedi!
The yellow and lilac side is beautiful on you @darkstar66!!!

Wowza @Coco2606 -- this looks amazing on the bright green blazer...I hope you can get some rest now that January is (almost) in the rearview mirror...
Thank you so much @Karenska-- this is a brilliant send off and I am sending wishes to your Fairy Scarfmother to guide a Jungle Love GT straight into your hands!
