Thinking this morning about contrast - I usually go for a tone on tone look, or a Look At These Colors look, but today I have them both goin’ on.

Navy top and skirt, marine scarf - but Marine/Vert/Fuchsia - for the lookie here!

Mythiques Phoenix Coloriage. Brilliant colors, contrasting with the white and blue center - AND - the stunning silver limn-ing (is that a word - I dunno) around everything in the marine border.
Magical!

You all are showing off some wonderfully inventive and chic looks in the service to our fun contrast/complement theme. I hope to personally respond to your shots and comments in a bit but for now I’d like to expand on a style that I mentioned on Sunday - black and white with pops of color. As I mentioned, I never met a foundational black look that I don’t love. Black and white, black on black, black with color, greys and black, black-white patterns/stripes/florals, and black or b-w accents. Theyball work for me. I do not subscribe to Auntie Mame’s dictum “Black’s always so safe. That’s what’s the trouble with it.” Yes, it can be safe and conservative but it can also be edgy, cool, and super, super elegant. I love black so much that I am almost always drawn to scarf cws that have some black or black and white in the mix. So many of my scarf choices reflect this.

Well, maybe my choices are rather safe after all, but I do enjoy them. :giggle:

I very rarely wear two scarves together. Just a quick review of mod shots indicates that I've worn a gav with a CSGM one time, a 70 with a GT one time, a 90 under a CSGM a few times and double twillies or double gavs just two or three times each. I am nowhere near as creative as our lovely @darkstar66 who has been knocking double scarf styling out of the park, but years ago I did try a Mai Tai halter tie with two 70s. @Karenska's week is the perfect theme to indulge in some experimentation so I decided to try it with two 90s instead. They are folded in a triangle, joined slightly above center, tied behind the neck and then behind the back. I don't know how to take a decent mirror selfie so I split the look into two photos. It is pretty dramatic and very long-- especially on one as height-challenged as yours truly. But it could be fun if one were younger, taller and braver...

I did say "experiment" right? Just wanted to be clear. As Polonius said to Laertes, "To thine own self be true." Well that is useful advice and "mine own" true scarf self is more likely to be found wearing these beauties like this...one of these is my SOTD!

Thank you for letting me blow off some styling steam! This is one of my absolute favorite summer scarf designs and both the blue and the craie were very good sports to go along with this little scarf adventure :winkiss:
Adventures in Scarfing. What an inventive look with the scarf halter. I think you look very tropical and fresh. I can see them with a flowy or pencil white skirt, too. Love your “you” toes, too. You have so many lovely blouses, Lkb.

I have an ambitious idea for a two scarf look but my intentions and my actions did not quite align this morning. In the meantime, I will share some coordinated looks. The first shows a dip-dye paired with a striped button up. I like to have a few dip-dyes in the scarf rotation because the monochrome look allows me to wear a scarf with a pattern without too much busy-ness. I do personally enjoy mixing patterns, too, but sometimes, I feel the outfit needs more color or texture than design. This is a new-to-me Jungle Love paired with a green striped seersucker shirt:

In the second case, my blouse has a pattern that actually could be a scarf in itself, so I felt I needed a solid color/textured piece so I paired it with my 90 Brides de Gala Perforé.

Love both looks but that dip dye is stunning. I don’t own a dip dye but I have always hoped to stumble on one. Thank you for your compliments.

My most common approach to an outfit is for the scarf to contrast the clothes, and then add jewelry/bracelet and Chanel flats and bag to match the scarf.

Orange with purple today (Marine Naïve mousseline). Wearing an orange bracelet and purple flats (I don’t actually have orange flats!). My bag is in Capucine, so while not orange, it is orange-y.
