These ones are keepers!!!

I just want to say I am loving this week for the major reason that it is helping me decide on gavroches to keep or cull. So far none have been culled in this exercise, but at least it confirms my loving or not . I do usually wear them in my hair, due to a postage stamp feeling with one on my neck, but this double up gives me enough volume to not feel that way. I have a bova knot holding them together in back. I did notice yesterday with a mors ring in back that one gavroche slipped out early on.

After seeing @blydia show her gav of this design once, I went a huntin. I loved the two-sided stripes! I now can’t remember which was her cw, but these were all I could find online.

I am solo grand-parenting today (and scarf-less at the moment having just managed school drop-off) but I wanted to weigh in on the discussion between @Redbirdhermes and @textilegirl on the nature of the DF format not being a "true" double in most cases. It is often the case that the two sides are the same design exactly but rendered in monochrome or limited colors but there are quite a few where the "other" or B Side, if you will, adds some elements. I am thinking of Pani Le Shar where one side is a bandana rendering, while the other is blue and in particular, Hermes Factory, where the one side is vignettes and the other is a "color-block" version that almost seems like a dip-dye. So while it is not as markedly different as @Redbirdhermes' example, here are archive photos of both sides of Factory...

Today is a double post day for me, this time with a set of two scarves. A few days ago I noticed how nicely the colors in my new-to-me La Ronde des Heurs silk 90 went with my Sweet Dreams 100 CS.

Our temperatures warmed up to freezing this afternoon, so it was time to bundle up for a walk to my favorite coffee shop. My second set of scarves of the day are La Ronde des Heurs and Sweet Dreams.

Sisters! This design is so underrated and it’s absolutely stunning! It has kept me at least open-minded about this category of design; when seen in the flat they can appear too minimally graphic but they seem to transform when worn. I don’t own the Pierre Charpin from a few seasons ago but would give it a look now if in a suitable cw.

Hi @Karenska, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend and colleague. It's such a sad thing, one that I experienced twice in the past 2 years. Please accept my most heartfelt condolences.

Life keeps getting in the way of my scarf fun so I'm just now getting you this pic, my apologies for the delay. Here's my Objects de Curiosites, which I absolutely adore, especially the bee border (mostly the naughty bees who wander). I've really enjoyed wearing it lately with a purple top, I like the contrast with the hem.

Starting the week with a first-time wear and my first double face scarf - Splash Park.

I'm a little apprehensive about such a light-coloured silk, so I've gone for a loose drape-knot to try and keep it makeup-free.

I have two 90 DFs that I love and normally take with me when travelling, but I managed to escape the cold North and am currently vacationing in Bali, where it's way too hot and humid to wear any scarves, let alone two. I brought along a few twillys though (that I can wear for about 5 min.), so took a quick mod shot earlier. The Savana Dance twilly is not officially a DF, but it does have two distinct sides and is the closest I'm going to get to being on theme this week.

I'm wearing my double face Le Jardin des Peintres today. I purchased this scarf because I liked the cyclamen color on the B side, and it was my favorite design of the S/S 2023 season with cyclamen.

This is a variation of what @LKBNOLA was discussing with her Hermes Factory, where the back is also vividly colored. With Peintres the design on the front has been rendered in a more graphic format, instead of a finesse style with a solid color overlay. Like many Hermes design variations, I suspect that this alteration was done by in-house designers. For example, in-house designers are certainly at work on the many new scarf designs that Hermes produces that are attributed to the long-departed Hugo Grygkar.

Here is my scarf of the day photo of Le Jardin des Peintres with the A side out. I do find that having a beautiful color on the back of the scarf means I spent less time fiddling with it to keep the back from showing. Who would want to hide the cyclamen??

But I am not sure if this counts as a double or a tripling up-- I defer to the STEM experts among us...

Wow @Karenska! From a color perspective all of these are wonderful to me. And your sweater is perfect. I am inspired to try two different scales as yo have with Baobab Cat in the second mod shot. I tend to be more conservative in pairings... Pegase Pop and Sangles are just riotously fun together!

I’m fully prepared to cut H a little slack for artistic vision, but I think if there’s any writing on the scarf, including the house name and artist’s signature, it should be rendered properly. I know there have been several Della Cav iterations, and I’m away without my scarf at hand, but I particularly remember the figures and writing being exactly rendered in different colors and legible on each side as this was the subject of a lengthy discussion with my SA. What I’m less fond of is where it seems very little of the scarf design is reversed, and there’s simply a different color wash through which can be seen the ‘A’ side design in reverse. (I hope that makes some sense.) What’s so marvelous about @Redbirdhermes’ Formule Chic is that it’s a completely different design. That is certainly worth the price of admission in my estimation but I’m not convinced regarding, for example, Tapis de Selle. https://assets.hermes.com/is/image/hermesproduct/tapis-de-selle-double-face-scarf-90--904040S 02-flat-wm-5-0-0-800-800_g.jpg.

I agree with you 100% on the Tapis de Selle example @textilegirl -- I am sure the mirror image reversal was deliberate but it bothered me, too. Every other DF I have, if you look head on titles and other lettering are exactly legible.

Responding to you and @Lellabelle, I got this Alternateur solely because of the blue side, it is exquisite. I know this has been discussed before, but the sad reality is one is highly unlikely to fall in love with both sides of a DF. Hermes has this perverse habit of creating DF scarves for two entirely different skin tones. The only exception for me was Orphee, where one side is total magic and the other mostly tolerable but wearable.

Well, I am in trouble now @frenchgirl because I adore that blue side and am now inspired to try it when next I am in the boutique!

I am so glad you decided to get this @Redbirdhermes-- it is marvelous on you! And BTW, the SA in Greenwich talked me into the black BdG perfore and that is another excellent travel scarf-- it dresses up any evening outfit. But I agree that Hugo Grykar might be surprised to find his iconic bridles "hole-punched" on silk!!!!

I feel that Sous le Charme d’Orphee is very different too, each side is completely different colors (though there are some of each side's colors on either side)... now I'm going to have to go home and really look at my DSs!

I agree that Orphee is another with two very "convincing" sides to quote @Maedi! I always think of her comment when I am contemplating a DF now. Are the two sides different enough to convince me to spend the extra $$$ is another way to interpret that but I know she means aesthetically As to your Iris-- that's another beauty that lends itself perfectly to doubling. Love it with Sangles, too @Cookiefiend.

Do NOT cull these! I so regret not getting another gav @Nomad! I thought I wanted the CSGM but the scale of the diagonal stripes were overwhelming on me, but on the gavs it is just perfect. My influencer on this was @MAGJES!

You scarf pairings are beyond compare but your hilarious research result would make you right at home in New Orkleans where I have to routinely put at least three bottles of hot sauce of various different strengths on the table with my red beans and rice or jambalaya @Julide! When my older grandchildren were teenagers they loved to dare their friends to try the more "evil" versions....

Great combo all around! The gavs seem to be the ideal format for doubling and you’re right, sometimes the gavs have more suitable cws than what’s available in the 90 release. See this? This is called enabling in action

And I would have never thought to google evil salad dressings, and I’m not surprised that ranch came up first…
My youngest son went on a hot sauce crusade a few years ago. He grew some incredibly hot peppers in his garden and he and his girlfriend concocted some sauces that I’m surprised didn’t burn right through the glass bottles!
He gave that up… I think he even got them too hot for him!

Trying a fun double today - Tea for Two 90 and Lanternes gavroche. These two happen to have the exact same base color, and then they share a decent amount of detail colors.



The Tea for Two is a scarf that I’ve struggled with a bit, in terms of feeling it fully works on me. I would say to myself: “Self, it’s because of the peachy background color. It’s TOO close to your skin tone.” But given that that the Lanternes is the same, and I love that one on me, clearly that’s not it. Hmmm. Open to folks’ opinions.

On another note, excited to debut my new enamel bracelets! I just ‘discovered’ these as a thing and I am OBSESSED. The patterned one is the Lanternes design so - a bit matchy today!
