Well we had our first snow of the season-- five fun inches-- enough to play in and make the season bright and white. I tried to emulate @Redbirdhermes with an outdoor mod shot (flakes were actually still falling) without her success...

And my SOTE is my beautiful Ex Libris en Kimonos. I think my vintage green onyx earrings look very festive, too! It is the longest and darkest night of the year so I am happy to have this bright colorful shawl for warmth and cheer.

No sophisticated drink pairings for me but my little granddaughter is very excited to have a recipe for "Unicorn Hot Chocolate" and we've rounded up the ingredients for tomorrow (white chocolate, whipped cream, rainbow sprinkles and food coloring ). Sigh. The things we do...If I were so inclined, I might hit it with a shot of Kahlua, right?

Cocktail to accompany it is a Claridge (like the London hotel), a Friday night favourite. Easy and tasty. Recipe below:
1oz gin
1oz dry vermouth (Noilly prat, for preference)
0.5oz apricot brandy
0.5oz cointreau
Shake over ice, and enjoy cold with a twist of lemon peel for garnish.

I am actually twins with you, yay! I saw it on an instagram page in 2020 and knew that was the cw I had to have. I contemplated rehoming it for a bit because it Is really dark on me, but I love the color drama in it too much. Everything in this is so sharp and bright. I have paired with light denim tops at times too to lighten the dark look on me which has worked too.

Sometimes, it has just to sparkle! As much as I love my CSGMs and their cosiness, warmth and ability of being throw-on-and-go, my silks are very precious to me because of their glow and their subtlety. Here are some festive and wintry wonders that I wear over the holidays and two libations - a mocktail and a cocktail.

Blood Orange Spritzer
Ice
3 oz. blood orange juice
2 oz. ginger beer
1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice
Sliced blood orange, sliced ginger, and fresh mint, for serving

Fill a rocks glass with ice. Add blood orange juice, ginger beer, and lemon juice and gently stir to combine.

Garnish with sliced blood orange, ginger, and mint.

• Honeycrisp Apple
• Fresh Cranberries
• Cinnamon Sticks
• Star Anise Pods
• 1 bottle of Red Wine
• Apple Cider
• Cointreau
• Orange
• For Serving: Cinnamon, Turbinado sugar, Ice, Rosemary Sprigs

To start, thinly slice your apples. Place the sliced apples, fresh cranberries, cinnamon sticks, and star anise pods into the bottom of a large pitcher.

Next, pour the wine, apple cider, and Cointreau into the pitcher. Gentry stir. Tuck the sliced oranges into the pitcher.

Cover and refrigerate overnight or for a minimum of 4 hours.

Serve the Holiday Sangria in cinnamon-sugar-rimmed wine glasses filled with ice. Garnish with rosemary sprig!

Index Palmiere is a perfect Christmas choice, I think.

Love that building!!! When I was in Amsterdam some years back, that was the Chanel boutique. Even better that is it now H! I was fascinated by the way they’d done the glass bricks so that they bled gradually into the real brick.

This jacquard treasure depicts a wintry scene of Victorian skaters in their fashionable finery. There are not one but two jacquard skater motifs designs and it has the added beauty of matte blanc overlay, a technique that adds paint, often white, for special effects. In this design, the technique is employed for ice and snow (thank you @Ashanti_Rose for providing a definition of matte blanc on another thread in January 2023).

Another gorgeous seasonal scarf is Plumes et Grelots by Julie Abadie. It, too, is a jacquard fabric featuring a holly and berries design - so very pretty. This is my favorite colorway. I don’t own this design and I would love to see some mod shots of those who do own this lovely silk.

For a 1½ gallon beverage jar

• 2 (12-ounce) cans of frozen apple juice concentrate, thawed
• 2 liters of ginger ale
• Ice to fill
• 2 sliced apples for decoration

Pour the cans of apple juice and the bottle of ginger ale into the beverage jar. Add ice and stir. Add slices of apple on top for decoration.

These two look like ice dancers!

Thank you! Somehow I always overlook the black one. Then I wear it and wonder why it’s not in heavier rotation. The stars look almost like snow - it’s a better winter silk than I realised!

Yum!

A rare non-scarf day for me today, but cocktail of the evening is a bourbon Manhattan, made with Howler Head bourbon (infused with natural banana flavour). Sounds awful, but it’s delicious! Very simple to make:
2oz Howler Head bourbon
1oz sweet vermouth (I like Cinzano with this)
Optional: Couple of drops of barrel-aged cherry bitters,
Shake gently over ice and serve over a large ice ball.

I forgot to take a pic, so sharing one of Dragon staying toasty in his new pjs instead!
