Good morning, Scarflandia. Following up on yesterday's beautiful Early America posted by @Croisette7, I thought I would post my recent acquisition today. I tied it to show two features: George and Martha Washington and the incredible border. This scarf was not on my radar in any serious way until I began looking at Costume de Fete and thinking about Folkloric designs. I had Zabavushka in my collection from early on but that was the extent of it. A friend then posted a beautiful Early America CSGM and I became intrigued last fall and decided to add this iconic design. This scarf pays homage to the young America: it features a beautiful, naïve rendition of George and Martha Washington surrounded by a variety of animals, foliage and children…the patterns of the border are inspired by the American folk art of paper cutting or “carnivet”.

Thank you, Nhare, and I hope it comes your way. Boutiques may have it, even if the website doesn’t. Your SA or customer service can tell you if it’s in a boutique. I’ve had great luck purchasing scarves from boutiques over the phone.
I will try calling customer service, thank you for the advice. My current store is not so good and always packed with tourists, but they are building a brand new store super close to me -like 5 minutes away. I’m excited, DH not so much, lol

Wonderful comparison and post! please let me add the this little gav to your spectacular examples. Un Jardin sur le Toit.

This is fantastic with your smocked top @MAGJES.
Congratulations on this find! The cherry red is a welcome burst of juicy colour. it looks great, and in super condition.
It is pristine, amazingly @Lellabelle and thank you.
I think I was on theme yesterday with Brandebourgs, reissued a few times and in different sizes. This is a Surteint.
View attachment 5695805
I *need* to find a Brandenburgs for my collection @Nhare! Love your surteint version...
I *am* on the lookout for this, so super helpful to have this as a reference, thank you! Thank you!
Happy to help always @EtsyBoss!
Clair de Lune could be inspired by LeDoux’ Cosmos (photo not mine)View attachment 5695852View attachment 5695855. I used to have Cosmos but gave it to my mom. Both designs are dreamy.
Beautiful both. I hope your mother lets you borrow it sometimes @Maedi! What a nice daughter you are. Your Clair de Lune is gorgeous on you.
I’ve seen this scarf many times on the resale market and thought it was okay, but it looks sooo good the way you’re wearing it
Yes thank you @Nhare! I am on a mission to collect 7 1953 designs. I started with Plumes which is so beautiful and timeless and Carrick a Pompe reissue with its cute border and now this delightful Mail Coach which was a very happy surprise.
Oh, how pretty. I adore this design and your color way is spectacular. Doesn't @turfnsurf have this, too?
Thank you @Maedi! It turns out that I am twins with @Croisette7 and @momasaurus and I truly miss @turfnsurf on this thread. Her vintage collections and tremendous knowledge were so helpful and fun...
Sotd, joining the faubourg love. I don’t wear this moody cw nearly enough.
I will eventually get to no black in my wardrobe. It is horrible on me. Truly. So I am thankful for colorful scarves to go near my face during my closet transition :happydance:
View attachment 5696014
Oh, please don't get rid of all the black @Nomad. I disagree that it is horrible on you but now you have a beautiful closet of scarves for black to be a useful background and the scarves a buffer with your lovely coloring and gorgeous hair!
Apologies for my absentee hosting this week. After getting through the pandemic in relatively good health, I caught the flu bug this week

Scarfies who have been on SOTD for a while will notice that I have an obsession with rocks and gems. So it was only natural that I would find that vintage design Mineraux.
View attachment 5696037
It was therefore a foregone conclusion that when H released a design on the same theme, I would jump on it. My three cws of Mineraux are quite naturalistic, so my SA was surprised when I chose the dark pink cw for Pierres et Cristaux. It reminded me of rock slabs which gemologists put under tests to check if they are natural, enhanced or synthetic.

Several scarfies have shown the multiple iterations of BdG old and new. I like H's remakes of Ex Libris, some of which are so different that they look nothing like the original. A few are on my wishlist.

An Ex Libris with grail status is EL en Kimonos.
View attachment 5696034
I have two.
View attachment 5696031
And inspired by @Julide's full array of this design, I recently acquired a third which is still in the mail.
Gattoni created a cute version EL Atlantis with the groom at the bottom of the ocean.
View attachment 5696039
When I travel, I sometimes bring along EL Globetrotter which is in lightweight silk, a nifty smaller size and and shows the 4 points of the compass.
View attachment 5696041
And one of my fave EL-based designs is Glitch. It depicts EL on a very staticky old TV screen. If you do not take a closer look, you would miss the pattern altogether. A techno interpretation of a very traditional design!
View attachment 5696042
Oh you poor thing @xincinsin. I hope you feel better soon. Sending good wishes. This is a wonderful display and especially like your Glitch-- so rare and fun to see! And of course, ELeK!!!
This is such an interesting post, Lkb, and both scarves are beauties, especially Harness de Cour en Patch. It’s dual qualities make it very special. The way you tied it makes it look smaller than a 140. Would you mind giving a description of the knot you used?
Thank you so very much @Karenska-- it is one I learned from @MAGJES -- not sure what it is called. I'll see if it is on the tutorial thread and post a link.
The one that started me on the hunt for this design that totally captured my heart @Croisette7! Love it on your argyle sweater.
I’m so sorry that you’ve been ill, Xincinsin, and I hope you are on the mend. Love your three Mineraux and your cw of Pierres et Cristaux is stunning. I’m glad you brought out your ELs, which are all wonderful (EL Globetrotter!). This is a design that never stops giving and, as you nicely demonstrated, continues to definitely feeds the imagination. In addition to my Ex Libris en Cravate maxi-twilly cut, which I showed earlier, here are others in my collex. Sisters with EL Atlantis.
Ex Libris Bandana, my first.

I have that madras bandana because of you @Karenska! Love this parade of Ex Libirs variations.
Wonderful to see these to compare @Croisette7. The large format a la Plume is so lovely too in its more abstract rendition...
Feel better @xincinsin ! Thanks @Redbirdhermes for the Galop Volant post and DR’s current scarf info. Thanks @Nomad @Nhare @MAGJES and all the silky likes.

many moons ago during my early days of H scarf collecting (er, hoarding), I fell in love with Rocailles by VALERIE DAWLAT-DUMOULIN. I love seashells and I thought the classic design in the blue colorways could always be framed if I ever was lucky enough to have a beach house. Years later the incredible Reve de Corail and Chemins de Corail, both by Annie Faivre came along and I pounced on those too.H was very keen about specific subjects and objects in earlier times. I’ve noticed a departure from that approach with the more recent designs being more whimsical in style.

i kind of miss Annie Faivre’s designs and hope to see her work again for H.

I am in awe of your always breathtaking photos @lanit! Because I live on th ebeach half the year I too had to collect these designs! Twins on the Daulat and Chemins and sisters on Reve de Corail. Treasured pieces all.
On this same subject, the detailed illustrations of artists/naturalists such as Dallet, Honore and more recently Alice Shirley ; I’m glad I have these treasures in my tansu. Compared to those of Marsal and Guzman line illustrations, they do add a richer and impressive printing heritage that is missing more recently. Having said that, I do love Marsal’s Pivoines, La Cite and Fauborg Tropical for their architectural rendering style.

Such a beautiful array of silks @lanit-- I am delighted to be twins on the bright and charming Mountain Zebra and the lovely Pivoines, as well as sisters on several. Like you, I love the artistic designs that highlight or hone in closely on beautiful natural subjects but also like you, I have made a place for all kinds of designs and cherish them. This season there is a new and lovely Annie Faivre in double face format! (not to enable or entice :graucho: )
If anyone has an reissued Equateur or Au Couer de la Vie to contrast with the above, please feel free to post. Once I have a design, I rarely invest in reissue to avoid duplication unless its a different colorway or format such as Samourais or Mythiques Phoenix. :graucho:
I have the Equateur Maxi Twilly Cut @lanit-- a favorite and an addition to the beautiful blue wash 90. I wish I had your discipline to avoid duplication of loved designs! Here's a thumbnail of the MT Cut-- it is a very lovely and useful format...

For a bit of history, this scarf was originally issued in 1942, in 1989 then a special edition 70 was issued in 2011 for Bocuse d’ Or USA Foundation. Perfect scarf for foodies! A la Gloire de la Cuisine Francaise by Dumas.

Amazing! And perhaps La Patisserie Francaise by Pierre Marie is a bit of a hat tip (those lovely towers of fruit). How special to have collected this @lanit!

I’m happy to have the 70 dear, I tried several vintage Cuisines and it was too hard to find a wearable one due to stains, fading, issues. Btw it was also issued in blue for the NY east coast chapter. red was for west coast Chapter.

I *so* love this post @lanit They all look so similar to me it's hard to tell them apart to this newbie. Maybe I'm tricked by the fabulous strings of those little brown beads. Are they tropical seeds or shells wonderment sent me off googling, LOL. It's still a mystery to me! I love these scarves, and so with you about Annie Faivre designs.
