TY @Nomad @Cookiefiend and @LKBNOLA for the Pierre Loti love. Here’s a flat photo - you can see why I refer to it as the weirdest scarf ever. I love things that make the uninitiated think ‘Hermes did THAT?!’ which is yet another reason I love Jan Bajtlik

Anyhow, Pierre Loti was an eccentric naval explorer known for his wild diaries

A true beauty in all its weirdness. Honestly, Snausages, it’s really not that weird. Reminds a bit of the cover of Sgt Peppers.

Yet again with some archive pics - I'm a sucker for a yellow contrast hem! If the bright shot of sunshine doesn't make you happy, what will

But never let it be said that green hems are less fun!

And I think contrast hems are especially fun if you pair them with jewelry - here my Dots 70cm with matching blue earrings:

These are all so wonderful, Ajaxbreaker, and so nice to see you! Happy Scarflovin’ New Year. Loving those fringed numbers - whoo!

So I’m behind, what’s new, hope to catch up later, but I must introduce my new-to-me purchase, courtesy of a lovely collector here, and definitely on-theme. My newest Appaloosa :ty:. The herd is growing because this is my fourth  … I’m in love :hbeat:.

Loving the border and hem on this beauty and it is a great example of the border being a true part of the design which is an homage to the Shyrdak rug weaving tradition in Kyrgyzstan. Here is a photo of it flat:

Good morning all! Today I am participating in @Coco2606's and @Lellabelle's "Is this covered in my closet?" adventure. This season, I purchased the mauve/periwinkle/gris nacre Costumes de Fete, which I am head over heels about. I thought I might also want a bright cw of Bajtlik's charming design. Last night my DH brought Zabavushka back from New Orleans where it had been left. So is a bright folkloric scarf with a terrific border covered, or is Costume de Fete so unusual I should keep the bright blue, cyclamen or cream one on my table awaiting its fate of return or keep?

At least with the ties you've shown, I would say the Zabavushka is too similar to the cream CdF to justify keeping the latter, and maybe even to the blue CdF, given the black border. (I think the cream CdF is overall blah anyway, but I'm someone who always gravitates to bright colors.) The blue you could possibly justify keeping if you tie it to show the bright blue center rather than the borders. But if you're gonna keep just one the cyclamen is a no-brainer IMO.Lovely match with your blue sweater.

Ooh, lovely!

Firstly, I love Zabushka tied that way!
Secondly, you look great in all of these, any of which would be a worthy addition.

As to similarity, the cream/dark border actually feels the most similar in palette and tonality, but I suspect that’s partly due to the way each is tied.
Then the blue, and finally the cyclamen being the most different. The cyclamen is very flattering on you, though you rock most anything, so it's really a question of degree. You’d probably have a similar effect pairing the blue with a pink top.

Personally, I am partial to the blue, which would be an option half-way between your lighter one, and the Zabushka. It’s also my fave CW overall ;)

Thank you. This is very confirming of my thinking and very helpful! (And a fabulous parade of hems today @ajaxbreaker!)

@LKBNOLA - I'd send back the Costume de fete cream center for sure. I may be somewhat biased, but I think the black border, blue center is the best colorway for this design and is a keeper.

ETA- I see @Lellabelle and I are on the same page about this one.
Y'all are just great. So thoughtful. The cream was always going back but it does prove it pays to check IRL. I generally have trouble with that much vanilla color next to my skin tone. The periwinkle is much better and the greens in the center of the cyclamen cw are just stunning. The blue Costumes feels destined to be a classic. Thank you both for the help @Lellabelle and @Redbirdhermes.
