More from the archives: Few things make me happier than the contrast of the shockingly pink hem against the grey of Hermes Galaxy

View attachment 5689403
 Soooooo gooooood pink hem!!!!

All are wonderful @Snausages and such great knots to show their hems-- I always love seeing that Pierre Loti-- such amazing colors-- I hope you will show it flat for scarfies unfamiliar with it!

Thank you @Maedi, @Nhare and @EtsyBoss-- honestly my knots are deceptively easy and I do strive to match them to the element of the scarf I am trying to highlight; but I worry that no one is seeing the beautiful silks-- just the knots! Maybe time to retreat to some basic ties... I will get to putting up a photo tutorial very soon @Nhare and I will tag you when I do. I appreciate hearing that they seem not too contrived because my first criteria is that I am a person not a mannequin so they have to work in motion!

It would be amazing @Karenska-- with any black or white hemmed scarf or any of the new print hems like Nuage and Space Derby...

Perfect for a walk and such a cool border @Karenska...

I honestly think you have this covered in your closet @Coco2606 and @Lellabelle too with that Space Derby/Rendez Vous example.

 @Cookiefiend-- I know you know that Les Ailes de la Soie is fab because @Croisette7 and your mod shots were the ones that made me CCP my other one! :ty: and today you have another beauty that I just became your sister on! Gorgeous cw...

Superb cw for you @EtsyBoss...Red is so good on you!

The only way I could twin harder with you on this post is if I acquired two such adorable cats! And that would require me to rehome my perfectly delightful DH who is so so so allergic... Sigh. Love everything about this @bunnycat and so nice to see Pickles-- clearly he is always ready for his close up!
 Poor DH! That's too bad about the allergies! Thank you and I know you like Sir Pickles, but there's another side to him as well.... Wait til you see Drunk Pickles.

Sotd. Fun border on cocottes de soie. Silk is a big fav design for me. One less item in my closet though haha. The Shawl sweater is currently in the donate pile due to being allergic to the wool in it  . Immediate improvement when took off when got home.
View attachment 5689491
Beautiful! That is too bad about the wool allergy! If you only knew the breed they used, you might try another with a lower micron count. I can't wear higher micron count wool (too coarse) but VLMicron Merino is not a problem for me. Sadly...mohair is a huge problem though...

Wonderful job mimicking. I love how the sweater pulls out that peep of pink in scarf

Perfect! Love the top color with it. Lightens the scarf up beautifully

I love this one!! Had it in my cart so many times. Looks amazing with your blazer

Someone come pick me up off my floor please. :faint: stunning parade

I absolutely love your pique gav. My fav cw! And your plisse is so fun and colorful. And the whole camel to dark line to periwinkle border to hem on sequences is beautiful

Ailes ailes ailes. Amazing design. Brilliant highlight of hem in first tie.

perfect matching top. This is such a happy happy colorway.

Stunning against the black and with Lippie

I am loving your take on shopping closet and so successfully. I love your closet look even better

I always look forward to seeing this ecosse on you. I actually found one finally and ended up not getting it because I always thought it was gray but technically it’s like an olive right?

Omg! Love him on your shoulder. And inspiring on the purple

One of the best designs

Cameos are the best haha. You ( and others) are making noire chorus very difficult to resist

It’s stunning against the gray. A real statement
Thank you! You know you want to!!!! :graucho:
Here it is @Cookiefiend and @Nomad-- from my post during the holiday week. I cut and pasted this from the old thread.
"I am celebrating the start of Chanukah tonight, but I love all mid-winter festivals. Today I am sharing a new to me Fleurs d'Ecosse which splits the difference between Chanukah's blue colors and the red we associate with Christmas, merging the two into a lovely tartan plaid, which would make my Argentine-Scottish grandparents proud. I own this lovely scarf thanks to our own @Snausages, so it also celebrates the joy of scarf friendship as well as all the seasonal delights!"
Fleurs d'Edosse.jpg'Edosse.jpg

I love this scarf! Just look at that border@Nomad! And thank goodness you got that wool off-- I react that way to certain blends-- no fun at all but you look very chic...
Fantastic colorway of this!

TY @Nhare - I’m a sucker for pink

@Lellabelle this is 100% a keeper!

TY @Coco2606 - will post a flat photo of Pierre which I often refer to as the weirdest scarf ever

That Sintra is amazeballs - I’ve never seen that colorway! And that’s one reason I vote no on the Annie F double face: the colors you have already in your closet (and wearing two scarves intertwined is delightful!) and you’ve got the hem covered with Sintra.

Twinning on the first Galaxy @ajaxbreaker and in love with the second as well as that Arctique!

These are all fabulous scarves @Pirula and the outfits and knots are icing on the cake

The scarves are nice @Karenska but Minette is definitely a scene stealer and she looks lovely in her gav!

@LKBNOLA ty for the hem love and holy schmoly that Ailes!

That is such a pretty colorway @Redbirdhermes and a perfect match with the top. Love the pops of green

That yellow and black are beautifully dramatic @lanit

TY for the compliment and hello to that stunning Ecosse! Love those colors and now I’m on the hunt

Like Karenska and Minette, Bobby is upstaging your amazing scarf @Teaforparrots. Is he giving you side eye for a reason or is he always cheeky?

@EtsyBoss wow that colorway is fantastic! Red and khaki are such a great combo!

TY @bunnycat - and again, more beautiful scarves upstaged by kitties! Snickers would love to show off the green hem of CS and Pickles is envisioning himself as one of the dream creatures in SD

TY @Nomad - it’s funny but the dogs on Woof Woof really get lost in the Pegase but the hem makes my heart skip a beat. Love your border and can’t wait to see your WS (looking for inspo on what to wear it with beyond red)
If I could trust her to not bite the scarves....I would let her play along. Sir Pickles just wants another treat!

TY @Nomad @Cookiefiend and @LKBNOLA for the Pierre Loti love. Here’s a flat photo - you can see why I refer to it as the weirdest scarf ever. I love things that make the uninitiated think ‘Hermes did THAT?!’ which is yet another reason I love Jan Bajtlik

Anyhow, Pierre Loti was an eccentric naval explorer known for his wild diaries

I can hardly wait to be your twin on the green colorway! it comes out of the SGV reaaaaallll sooooonnnn....

Three beauties fit to be on an Hermès scarf design.
Thank you kindly Maedi...

For Sir Pickles, life's not all about sittin' pretty. After a night of hard partying and Formula One races around the living room with Fiona and Snickers, I give you all...Drunk Pickles... :roflmfao:

And also from this week- Chorus Stellarum with the fab lime green hem (that is not showing up well in my pic...)

Plus, a cameo with Miss Snickers.

And because I couldn't leave him out. It wouldn't be fair since Snickers got a photo op.

Sir Pickles awaits tribute on his throne. (PS- I love how the pillows match both Pickles and the bench... )

All hail Sir Snickers and Lady Pickles! :king::queen:

Warning, mega multi-quote ahead… sill catching up!

oh, we see them, don’t worry! Your thoughtful knotting just enhances their beauty and I am in awe of how successfully you are able to select and execute just the right knot to do it, without looking fussy or contrived.

I honestly think you have this covered in your closet @Coco2606 and @Lellabelle too with that Space Derby/Rendez Vous example.
Thank you for the feedback. It helps enormously.
I found it really interesting as an experiment and I will definitely try this again to help manage new scarf frenzy…

Ailes ailes ailes. Amazing design. Brilliant highlight of hem in first tie.
OMG. That’s some high-quality punning right there! I’m dying :roflmfao:

Cameos are the best haha. You ( and others) are making noire chorus very difficult to resist
Yes. You all are. And I’ve resisted so hard!

@Lellabelle this is 100% a keeper!
thank you @Snausages! This one isn’t going anywhere! It’s one of my treasured space derby’s, styled to mimic the new season rendez-vous galant. Glad you liked it and it’s good to see you here this week :)

YES! hooray for weird! I think most of my absolute favourites fit in this category… Bajtlik, Nomura, Bienvenu, Shirley’s animal series (lions and wolves and bears and Dino’s!)

Twinning with @Redbirdhermes and I think many other Silken Sisters with Costumes de Fete - the border is absolutely dreamy

This one shows the blue base color a little better with an extra animal thrown in for good measure. Meet Isadora who will be four in March. She’s our funny, adorable, active Portuguese Water Dog.

Well, helloooo, Isadora! You Isadorable ;).

Sending virtual belly cuddles and scritches (and cuddles to all our extended TPF furry, and feathery, family members as well !)

It's that your knots are so aesthetically pleasing and obvious to the onlooker that you're tying to bring out the design. All around fabulous.
Beautifully said!

haha - that is the sleep of the wicked, for sure! What a beautiful little misch-maker :)

We didn’t have any rain today, so I wore perspective cavaliere with a narrow petrol blue border and a pink hem. It’s a very subdued scarf. When I started collecting, I wasn’t so confident with color and patters.
Quiet scarves often turn out to be extremely versatile, and have good longevity. A good neutral is a staple ;)

Attempting my very first SOTD post. I cannot figure out how to take a decent me in my scarf selfie, so I am giving myself a little grace for my first post.

In keeping with the happy hems theme, I wore my only design with bicolor hems (I have this in 2 formats). Unfortunately, you cannot see the hems in the photo! Ha! Failure all around!

But here she is. Millefleurs du Mexique, 140cm in mousseline. She is very floofy and I struggle with a good knot. Suggestions welcome!

****

Edited to add photo of how I retired it into a headband using an off- brand chaine d’ancre style ring.

Welcome to tpf! There are many members here who are an absolute whizz with moussies, I’m sure they will inspire you

Not on theme today but H - compliant, nonetheless. I have been absent. following the trend noted in a past weekend WSJ wearing cotton and non-H silk neckerchiefs (for men, the term "scarf" seems outré to the prevailing wisdom of the species). But it is nice to be back home to the H - 90's. Sous le Cèdre.

Going to try to do more than like your posts this morning after my Zoom meeting. Wearing the graphic wonder Les Ailes de la Soie-- another example of a great hem plus border combo. Tied two ways to let her strut her stuff: tight pleated knot to show off a sassy black hem (inspired by @Nomad's mod shot of yesterday) and long Rando tie to show the border... Happy Wednesday, Scarflandia!

To stick to last week resolution, here is the comparaison between closet/new scarf. Both have contrasted hems. What do you think ? View attachment 5689136

I’m sure if you laid the scarves together you’d notice variation in shade, but at the price point for double face I’d say not different enough to warrant Le Jardin des Peintres. If you love the design would another cw satisfy you?

Ailes ailes ailes. Amazing design. Brilliant highlight of hem in first tie.
Love your pastel cw of it @Nomad-- yes, an amazing graphic wonder-- busy and clean at the same time. Amazing artistry to pull it off.
I see 2 on eBay like @LKBNOLA's. I've been considering but just not sure about that being the right colorway. I am hoping to find one with green in it or at least several colors that really show off how intricate tartans are. With Scottish ancestry and also on my husband's side too... he wore his father's kilt to our wedding with bagpiper and all the groomsman too... Scotland runs strong in our house! I know I'll eventually end up with one (I have to!)
We will all keep an eye out @EtsyBoss-- mine is not my actual family clan tartan but I am happy to honor the spirit of the house. Plus they are all beautiful! Are you also looking for Scotland? That one comes up more often, I think...
@LKBNOLA ty for the hem love and holy schmoly that Ailes!

Just beautiful on you-- stunning knots for the border and an inspired move to pair it with the bright blue. It tones it down and lets the border shine @Snausages.
I may need replicating help, too
 I will tag you too @Maedi.
You definitely need one!! It can be so hard to tell accurate colors in this design because the dots in the design create colors that pictures often don’t capture. And I just found out that it might have come in a 140!?!? I would need to do some more research to know it wasn’t a fake but I am very very intrigued by this find

I am on the search for more of this rusty orange at retailers because I love it. But this sweater isn’t all season obv. And I have a surprising amount of scarves to go w this purple color including my cyclamen costumes :happydance:
View attachment 5689521View attachment 5689522

I just can’t handle how amazing this design is. Your second tie w the flutter tails is perfection! And the blue top is perfect
The rust and the cyclamen/purple are both great on you @Nomad. Very very complimentary to your coloring.
This one shows the blue base color a little better with an extra animal thrown in for good measure. Meet Isadora who will be four in March. She’s our funny, adorable, active Portuguese Water Dog. View attachment 5689538
Well as a devoted PWD owner (though mine are cavorting in Portie heaven) I could not love this more @CedarWaxWing and oh, btw congrats on the scarf. Can't tear my eyes from Isadora tho...
It's that your knots are so aesthetically pleasing and obvious to the onlooker that you're tying to bring out the design. All around fabulous.
Thank you for being so sweet and reassuring @Maedi. When I was a neophyte at scarf buying, I only ever considered the aesthetics of the design flat so I have been catching up and enjoying the enormous possibilities that different folds and knots allow...
 Poor DH! That's too bad about the allergies! Thank you and I know you like Sir Pickles, but there's another side to him as well.... Wait til you see Drunk Pickles.
 It will be 45 years this August @bunnycat so I think I will have to keep DH-- that return window has closed! And drunk Pickles is too funny-- it reminds me of my new puppy Scout who is just "plumb wore out" and by day's end looks like he's sleeping off a night of hard partying too...

View attachment 5689490
I absolutely relate to this @Nhare! Besides my CCP program, I also re-homed some subdued and very lovely, useful designs that were safely in my comfort zone before I began to really collect by artist and design. A few now grace the necks of my young nieces and daughter giving them quiet confidence and style in their workplace! Meanwhile I am just getting bolder and louder
oh, we see them, don’t worry! Your thoughtful knotting just enhances their beauty and I am in awe of how successfully you are able to select and execute just the right knot to do it, without looking fussy or contrived.

Thank you so kindly @Lellabelle. It is nice to hear my knots aren't eclipsing my beauties! And two years ago when I was firmly wrapped in seaweed and being pulled under the waves, @xincinsin mentioned her intention to resist the undertow of the new season thread. It is very hard-- dare I say even futile at times, but your exercise in closet shopping/comparing is a big help. New Scarf Frenzy sounds a lot like a malady I suffer from: Acute Scarf Acquisition Syndrome...

Todays scarf is one I used to wear a lot but hadn’t seen much action recently, I’ve fallen in love with Graff by Kongo all over again.

It does have a fairly wide black border which is hidden today.

Great colors in the center of this one @paula24jen-- I love the black bordered one-- even folded away! (And thank you! credit goes to @Cranley Place on You Tube for her "Pocket Posy Knot" and to our own @blydia for the Rando. Both are on the how to thread I think).

Yet again with some archive pics - I'm a sucker for a yellow contrast hem! If the bright shot of sunshine doesn't make you happy, what will
