My SOTD is my new cw11 of Jaguar Quetzal. This started off being a CCP but has ended up being a duplicate. It started as a CCP on my very first JQ: the beautiful blue/brown/black. This was an early and beloved Alice Shirley in my collection but she and I have parted company on good terms. We had many joyful outings together, a beautiful complement to my then younger, brunette self. (Old mod shot pre-grey hair and lipstick adventures below.) I decided to find another, brighter JQ and last year I found cw02, a red/blue/green one-- quite dramatic for me. Even so I was in scarf lust with cw11 and kept an eye out-- y'all know how that is! In December I found cw11 but I simply cannot part with cw02! My beloved blue has found a new home with my beautiful 30 year old niece, who is just beginning her own designer adventures. So this may be less a tale of CCP than just the evolution of my love for a wonderful design... (and twins with @Nomad and @Awillow and @bunnycat, I believe!)

For a hot second, I thought you had increased to 3 (like me) but you have indeed been slightly more circumspect. I feel you on the changing color needs as time goes on...I'm there right about now and planning on doing some heavy thinking on some stuff. I actually adore your lighter hair shades now.

Dear Scarfies, my xray results came back negative on fractures and I am so very grateful. But I’m still in alot of pain (snarky  here). Resting up and taking good care. Healing will be slow. I want to thank everyone for their heartfelt concern, good wishes and support. You all are so lovely, beautiful friends. I hope to be participating in a couple of days. Regarding this week’s theme, I don’t know how I can keep any resolutions that involve toning down the purchases . Right now I’m in love with several from the new season, contemplating a CSGT from last year, made my first purchase for 2023, A Real Deal :graucho: , and of course, there are the grails to look for . I’ve said it before but will say it again. Temptation, thy name is Hermès :girlshocked:.

So glad to hear it @Karenska (though obviously not the pain part). Rest up and I hope you feel much better soon. I am sure the extra time in bed, or on the sofa, will be extra challenging for any resolutions… the temptation for online shopping is real (and possibly panacea!). More time for a grail hunt, methinks…

“Should I Stay or Should I Go” is a wonderful theme song, @Coco2606 . Thank you for sharing. It nicely sums up my dilemma today. It was two years ago, as I was sitting on a cold winter’s day in my lake cabin looking out at our lake all covered with ice fishing huts, that I found that La Vie du Grand Nord actually has ice fishermen on the scarf. I presume this is a unique feature to this particular Hermès design, as ice fishing is uncommon in most parts of the world. Anyway, I found and ordered this brown colorway on the spot.

Now, the brown colorway is not a favorite so I’m thinking of putting this scarf into the CCP. But first, I did a little research into what colors are available. I discovered a thread from 2010 devoted to this design, and it was so fun to read all the excited comments as various colorways appeared in boutiques around the world. It seems that the purple was a particular favorite, but the brown was beloved as well as it shows the animals in their more natural colors.

My resolution is to hunt for another colorway of La Vie du Grand Nord this year. Should the brown stay or should it go? I think I’ll have to wait and see.

La Vie du Grand Nord is my Scarf of the Day. This scarf about Life in the North is especially appropriate as we dig out of fifteen inches of snow today.

Stay! Definitely stay. I love this cw, RBH. So many beautiful colors can be paired withit. Brown anchors its other colors but it doesn’t dominate it. Good luck with your snow removal and please stay safe :hugs:.

Sotd.
Resolution is to wear more of my most loved scarves. So much of the time I am wearing a scarf to see if I love it enough to keep it. I also want to add that I bought the costumes in pink and told myself I am keeping it “even tho” it has a lot of bright neon colors. Well what do you know…so does this kimonos.
Another resolution is to wear my scarves more since I just can’t in the warmer months. I might get 5 wears in for 3-4 months of heat. So in keeping with that resolution, today it “feels like” 35 degrees and I am cold. So I popped on my new oh so love Fleece, Sweatpants, my coziest and warm purple Ugh boots and my silk haha. I am a sight, but I am happy haha.

Love this combo. You look amazing. I got some purple shearling slippers at Christmas and have been happily wearing them with scarves around the house :)

Keep! This one checks all the boxes: it is a beautiful design, visually splendid, well balanced for colours, ties beautifully, goes with your wardrobe (and jewellery), is flattering on you AND it is has a subject that is meaningful to you! Also, it has polar bears and huskies, in natural colours, which is a big selling point for me, though not objective.
Of course, keeping should not preclude you searching for a duplicate of this beauty ;)
Stay safe and warm, dear RBH!

Definitely the right choices, worthy additions and this may be my SOTD quote of the week:
the evolution of my love for a wonderful design...
Such a beautiful sentiment!

Resolution 5: let it go!

I think I've found the perfect anthem for the cruel dilemmas of the sorting collector. If my scarves could talk, I'm sure they'd be singing the Clash lyrics... (And I'd rather have that tune in my head than the Snow Queen... sorry if I polluted your eardrums...)

Until recently, the idea of rehousing a scarf was unthinkable for me. Nevertheless, the recent inventory is positive in that it makes me take a step back. So does @momasaurus ' courageous approach.
Anyway, I first considered the "butterflies in the stomach" effect that absolutely defines the favourites. Instead of wondering who should go, I prefer to select those I want to cherish (I have a lot of love to give). Finally, here is the pile of "slightly less loved than the others". I'd love your opinion.

I have to say that once the boxes were opened, it was like the first day again!
So should they stay or should they go?
SOTD, which almost went in the pile of all dangers and then I remembered that it looks great on black and goes well with this mohair jumper.

First… I need a moment to get over the fact you have a Baobab cat in there…

…okay. I‘m going with team “keep” for this one (a surteint?). That dusky blue is beautiful on you. It reminds me of the lovely Cavalcadours in a similar palette. It is lovely with the purple jumper and extra kudos for texture-matching: I think the soft on soft combo is actually part of why it works so harmoniously!

All your scarves above look like they’d be great on you. The Selle Dignitaire (?) might be a little more challenging with its cool grey and tangerine, but I recall there’s a lot going on in the middle of that design, which makes it quite different when styled. And if you get first day joy when you look at them, well that’s the biggest sign of all to keep!

I thought your experiment to find an equivalent for new-scarf temptation in your current wardrobe was inspired. If you find something that fills a similar niche but that you like better, then consider releasing the one you like less. But if they’re still bringing you new-scarf joy, I say keep ;)

Good to hear you didn’t break any bones, Karenska! I guess you should buy that CSGT from last year because you need something to console yourself with - no painkiller more effective than a new Hermès scarf ;-).

Liebes kleines Füchschen, you wrangled this Tapis Persans beautifully. Love the knot, and it looks great over the green.
Thank you so much; I‘m still surprised it mostly stayed in place.
SOTD - En Liberté
Had a doctor’s appointment, so I actually got dressed.View attachment 5684085
This looks great with your blue shirt. The pattern is varied and it ties beautifully. It’s probably one of the scarfs that look vastly different depending on how you tie it - a perfect excuse to buy a scarf, by the way, because you can always tell yourself „I‘m getting several scarfs for the price of one“.

Thank you very much @Lellabelle for taking the time to examine the situation so thoroughly.
The baobab cat, that's right, is a truly paradoxical scarf.
- I love the work of the Ardmore collective (see The Savana dance).
- I love the colours, especially the gradient from gold to mauve. I had a hard time deciding on this one.
- I love the contrasting red border
But I don't wear it much. Maybe because I don't know how to tie it properly yet. I should watch in archives if I can find some idea...
SOTD is " Couvertures et tenues de jour " surteint. I'm going to take @LKBNOLA 's advice and try it out in summer with other coloRs.
"Selle de dignitaire" makes my life a bit difficult (it's my only cool orange) but it looks wonderful on white or kaki linen in summer...
Congratulations on the blind test and thanks again for your compliments!

Edit: I only just realised that my profile picture is the Baobab gradient... The holidays have really put my brain to rest!

What a unique and beautiful scarf! The drawings! The border! Best of luck hunting the cw you prefer, but this brown may be hard to part with also! It’s harmonious and subtle, it has its own rhythm. It looks good against your purple blouse. It can also match nicely mustard-coloured fall sweaters, soft-brown (coffee-and-milk) woollen cardigans or dark brown sheepskin coat. I would say: keep it!
