Today was an interesting day as I had to pack for a department move. Lots of dust and old papers. SOTD was another great Queen, Zenobia, with some very realistic jewellery.

Spectacular, and I love how you’ve tied it!
Something went wrong. In response to @Agrume’s poppy, I posted this. I hope no one minds.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,

That mark our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved and were loved, and now we lie,

In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders fields.

Le Monde Est Vaste. The maps are beautiful.

❤️❤️❤️ Thank you Karenska ❤️❤️❤️
What a charming birdie! Of course you had to move heaven and earth to find what scarf!

Thank you for sharing the Story Behind and the exquisite attention to detail on such a wee square - but you are right the smiles are really all I see
:hugs:
Your granddaughter is adorable, Cookiefiend. Musique des Spheres! Great chice. Good thoughts on Memorial Day. ❤
Thank you sweetheart! :hugs:

Happy Monday everyone, and I wish a peaceful Memorial Day to those in the US.

We’re having family over for dinner and it’s warm outside - so a wee gav is called for!
La Musique des Spheres - the H story goes as follows:
“The music of the Spheres - Marrying music and mathematics, Stradivarius, the incomparable-maker from Cremona, turned to ancient Pythagoras and his theorem to prove to us that art is not just simple artifice but really science. His ‘Medici Viola’, freely reconstructed here from the one made in 1690, produces for our ears a diamond tone which really is ‘music of the spheres’, born of the perfection on the circle. What a vertiginous geometry!”

Your lil cherub has a beautiful complexion, Cookie! I think she looks like you, too.

I also love this comment about an iconic design and an iconic instrument. I have the gav which is one of two that my husband wears as a pocket silk. The other is Dies et Hores.

So in messing up the original post with the poem and reposting, I neglected to add the author’s name. It’s Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae - a Canadian poet, physician, author, artist and soldier during World War I, and a surgeon during the Second Battle of Ypres, in Belgium. Rest in Peace, Sir.
