Hi - Looks good from here ... or refer to it as your "invented" knot.

p/s: Something I noticed on instagram a particular lady would give a twist/turn on someone's knot and then copyright it as hers :smartass:

May the 4th be with you all, my silken space-mates!

Well, I gave up on my ’Taun Taun entrails’-knot of yesterday, and decided to try again today. I also found Fifi’s instructions for the octopus tie which, combined with Snausages’ super example, gave me the confidence to experiment a little.

Try as I might, I can’t get the entrails to look elegant (I’m finding it as difficult as to bullseye a womp-rat from a T-16!), but with a small modification, was able to make something half-decent that has held up all day.

My minor modification was to start with a folded triangle instead of a rectangle. SOTD is Animopolis, which I hope has enough fantasy fauna to qualify for our trip to outer space this week ;). I’m loving it with the lilac sweater - it’s the first time I’ve paired these together, and I was inspired to try after our colour therapy last week ;)

These are both so lovely! I’ve never seen the Carreve in action and

I just learned something new about Leila Menchari - thank you! Beautiful scarves and excellent tie in to the theme!

Ty! I love this design and must fight the urge to add more colorways.

TY! This is my attempt at the Octopus Knot that beleaguered @Living.la.vida.fifi keeps trying to teach me (I think there’s a tut on the show me how thread). Basically you fold the scarf in half (a rectangle) and drape around the neck so the tails are in front. Grab a CdA ring. Thread one corner up one hole and another corner from the opposite side up the other hole. Then take the remaining corners and thread those down through each hole.

I feel like I need a diagram to better explain this

Stopping in to say May the 4th be with you!

And may you all join with the Scarf Side of the Fourth.

Today with Parures de Samourais for a little Darth Vader armor action.

Thank you so much, bunnycat, for bringing your Parures des Samourais to the Scarf Side of the Force! I'm happy to see that design this week!

I am in complete and total awe of the Star Wars knowledge of this group and its ability to unearth Hermes supporting themes in their scarves! This week has been intensely busy for my business, so have had no time to be creative. I will repeat earlier mentioned scarves with two of my favorites, Axis Mundi, in a mouss changeant, and Acte III, where the moon cheekily eyes the world from my neck.

Perfect designs for this week, but even better is that you look amazing! Thank you so much!

I grew up watching Star Wars and Star Trek as my mom is a space junkie. I can’t emphasize enough the trauma a young child is at risk of sustaining when watching the Wrath of Khan ear worm scene. I have a fair number of scarves that fit these great theme but I love wearing Faubourg Party with this sweater. In thinking about it, the whole scene is a little reminiscent of a huge party at the cantina. Animals and humans mixing, loud music, and little pixelated stars!

Lovely scarf, and I love that Star Wars has cantinas with music. Very pretty scarf on you!

Okay, we have officially nerded out for this week. 'Tauntaun entrails' knot is something only a true Star Wars/Hermes scarfy would understand. Thank you so much, and you actually do look marvelous, and the design is perfectly on theme!

Star Trek the TV series never came to my shores, but my kids grew up understanding that if Mummy giggled over Red Shirts, it was because the Star Trek production crew recycled the Enterprise extras, so the same extra could "perish" repeatedly in different episodes (I'm told that this also happens in The Walking Dead :giggle:). They also understand mind meld

I am amazed at how many Star Wars connections everyone has come up with. Pretty impressive!

In the first movie (episode 4) there was an x-wing fighter buried in the swamps of Dagobah, and Yoda used it to teach Luke how to use the Force to levitate it out of the water.

Kermit Oliver’s Vie au Sauvage isn’t as dank as Dagobah but I’m envisioning an x-wing plane just below the surface.

I never get tired of seeing this design. Thank you for sharing!

A lot of people in the Star Wars films seem to swan around in kimono like garments, I have noticed so here is Ex Libris en Kimonos!

This looks great with denim. H scarves can be so versatile!

Then you will like this. None of my friends are both Star Wars fans as well as French-speaking, so it's a private joke when I wear this :amuse:

 That is fantastc @xincinsin!
Legende Moghole just arrived. O.M.G.!!
Oh, my-- Congratulations @Teaforparrots -- what a beauty.
Love this week! My SOTD was La Charmante aux animaux. With a star warrior depicted, and anyway, Sheherazade guides us in the vast universe of phantasy, so on theme, I think.

Beautiful @Agrume-- love seeing this beauty and a good tie in on the fantasy front too!
This is a gorgeous scarf, the colours are so soft, pretty and feminine. Pairing it with the chevron pattern is unexpected and marvellous.
I‘ve never been to a rain forest. But I‘ve been all alone in the midst of a forest a couple of times and the light filtering though the leafs and the sound of the wind in the branches or an eerie quietness in hot summer afternoons is a very special experience. I can only imagine how much more intense these sensations must be in a real rainforest.
Ah, you are so sweet and I love hearing of your forest impressions-- there is something magical about being in the woods alone and you describe it perfectly. Thank you @Thelittlefoxes.
Wonderful choice and a beautiful scarf, LKB! I have a short essay on Star Wars garments coming up, but it didn't go as far as it could have. I found that I simply don't own the scarves that would be on theme.
I hope you do share that @Redbirdhermes- with or without scarves it will be fascinating! You can always drop in scarf photos to illustrate your point...I guess I am eager to see it!
Your hitting it out of the park, dear Lkb! Really pretty and so great with denim.
Thank you dear @Karenska!

Your Axis Mundi is stunning @frenchgirl and I love your Acte 3 tie with the Moon showing!
Remember the scene where Luke is blindfolded getting a philosophical lecture from Obi-wan on the Force and practicing Jedi skills against a practice robot on the Millennium Falcon?

Waaalllllll....these guys didn't get that memo... :roflmfao: (They shoulda' joined the Scarf Side...)

Very funny- a real slapstick moment @bunnycat! Thank you for the belly laughs.

I am going to stay far away from any ear worm visuals and stick with the pixilated stars @laurenad!

This whole post was  @Lellabelle! The knot, whatever you decide to label it, looks great and your color therapy lilac sweater is perfect!

How beautiful in this colorway and in the CSGM format @citykitty24-- I adore this design...
Good morning, dear Scarfies! Things are very very busy right now, so I only managed to like and lurk. Wonderful colourful week last week, and I love this week‘s theme as well. Incredible preparations, @Redbirdhermes, thank you!
Here is my SOTD, knotted in a first attempt of Fifis Octopus knot - Astres et Soleils.

I am amazed, too! For a non-Star Wars person this is truly a case of cosmic vertigo! But thank you @citykitty24. During the pandemic I vowed to wear a scarf every single day and that meant some pairings I might not have thought. The take-away was exactly that: the versatility of an H scarf.

I am woefully deficient in Star Wars lore and knowledge so I am leaning hard on the obvious connections in my scarf drawer with a powerful assist from @Redbirdhermes' wonderfully creative examples. This has been posted before but here is my most starry and galactic scarf-- the beautiful Clair de Lune (fortunately there are comets, stars and cosmic dust sprinkled in every corner!)

Today I am taking a look at three things that are part of Star Wars lore and how we might imagine them with our scarves. These are Lightsabers, Hyperspace, and Holograms.

Lightsabers
The highlight of many Star Wars movies is the lightsaber duel. This is the battle between good and evil, or in Star Wars lingo, Jedi versus Sith, or the Light Side of the Force versus the Dark Side of the Force. The nine movies forming the three Star Wars trilogies all have lightsaber duels. Here are some images from them and from Hermes:

From Left to Right, then Top to Bottom:

The Rise of Skywalker (Rey vs. Kylo Ren)
A New Hope (Darth Vader vs. Obi-Wan Kenobi)
Return of the Jedi (Luke vs. Darth Vader)
Traite des Armes (Hermes scarf)

LightsaverMerge.jpg

A couple of my scarves with swords or sabers are Daimyo and Au Plus Dru.

DaimyoMerged.jpg

Hyperspace
I love the idea of traveling faster than the speed of light. It is what makes interplanetary travel in Star Wars possible. The top image below is the view when a starship moves into hyperspace. Below it are two scarves that evoke this image, A vos Crayons and Magic Kelly. Other scarves that come to mind include Faubourg Express, Galop Chromatique, and L'Effet Domino.

HyperspaceRevised.jpg

Holograms
The blue 3D holograms were how messages were sent a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.

We all have the first Star Wars movie we ever saw, and it can vary by how old we are. For me, it was the original Star Wars in 1977. I was fascinated, along with Luke, by the blue hologram of the beautiful woman with her desperate plea. "Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope."

LeiaHolo.jpg

Who was she, and what trouble was she in? It wasn't until 39 years later when Rogue One was released that we actually see Princess Leia putting the message into the R2-D2 droid.

I was researching holograms in an attempt to find an Hermes scarf with this theme, when I came across these instructions to turn your cellphone into a hologram. I thought this was pretty cool, so here is the link.

Cellphone Hologram

And, here are some holographic images that you can play on your cellphone.

Holographic Images

I hope someone here gives this a try. I wasn't quite nerdy enough to do it myself. In any case, here is my choice of scarf for replicating the blue Star Wars hologram. Pani la Shar Pawnee blue dip-dye. You may have others.

HologramMerge.jpg

My scarf of the day is Pani la Shar Pawnee Dip-Dye Triangle.

I'm going to add on to @Redbirdhermes' topic of the day: lightsabers. But first, a trip to a neighbour and more nerdlore.

I walked over to the Lucasfilm building in Singapore today. It's a couple of stones' throw from my office. The shape of The Sandcrawler really does resemble the Jawas' vehicle in A New Hope.

It used to have a Yoda fountain in its surrounding garden.
Picsart_22-05-05_22-00-38-839.jpg
But today, I found out that during the pandemic, Lucasfilm sold the building and, with the change in ownership, Yoda too has departed. Here are pics of his empty dais, and the lush greenery which surrounds the building and grows verdant in the central courtyard.

When we think of the sounds of Star Wars, what comes to mind is the soundtrack music of John Williams. A lesser known hero is Oscar-winning sound designer Ben Burtt who created many of the ambient noises or specific sounds we associate with Star Wars: the drone of the Star Destroyer as it relentlessly pursues the Blockade Runner in the opening sequence, the harsh mechanical breathing that identifies Darth Vader, R2D2's chirps and melodic notes, and of course the thrum of the light sabre as it activates.

Have you ever noticed the many colours of the light sabres? I have a pair of dangly earrings made for me featuring two Lego light sabres which I wear with my little Lego Darth Vader converted into a pendant

And the scarf which reminds me of light sabres?
