Visiting the forest moon of Endor today with the forests of Wild Singapore!

This look was also inspired by our recent color flips. I tried to bring out the green in this colorway.

Twins on the Wild Singapore. It looks amazing on you, and I especially love the green. Love all the wild animals on this scarf, and I'm sure some of them are there on Endor as well.

Picking up where @Pirula left off with Revenge of the 5th today. Because surely May the 4th shouldn't be partying on its own...

"These are not the droids you are looking for...."

Flamboyant Web CS100 (This one is headed to the SGV so I can await its release to me later in the year, but I had to get at least one pic of it for now...)

But earlier in the day, and recalling @laurenad 's mention of the cantina scene in Mos Eisley spaceport, I wore Animapolis, as almost anything Jan B reminds me of the craziness and chaos that Mos EIsley and the busy cantina would be.

Congrats on the Flamboyant Web, even if it is a bit of a wait before you can wear it some more. At least you know what the gifts will eventually be. There are enough alien creatures on Animapolis to make it easily on theme. So pretty, and love those creatures eyeing me.

Sorry what did you say?

You paid full price from H online and they said keep it for in effect 75% off?

How do I get this!!!

ScarfBloke.
Lololol! No, it was an eBay seller. I did the math and kept it because it’s a very very good price for a scarf in great condition - and it’s red! I think they probably just did not want to deal with an international return and any potential issues that could arise. First time this has happened to me.

Thanks rbh! It’s a no brainer to let him set this aside for awhile since it’s slated to be 95+ this weekend. I surely won’t need cashmere for awhile. (And .. . :crybaby: )

May the 4th be with you all, my silken space-mates!

Well, I gave up on my ’Taun Taun entrails’-knot of yesterday, and decided to try again today. I also found Fifi’s instructions for the octopus tie which, combined with Snausages’ super example, gave me the confidence to experiment a little.

Try as I might, I can’t get the entrails to look elegant (I’m finding it as difficult as to bullseye a womp-rat from a T-16!), but with a small modification, was able to make something half-decent that has held up all day.

View attachment 5396313

My minor modification was to start with a folded triangle instead of a rectangle. SOTD is Animopolis, which I hope has enough fantasy fauna to qualify for our trip to outer space this week ;). I’m loving it with the lilac sweater - it’s the first time I’ve paired these together, and I was inspired to try after our colour therapy last week ;)
I'm loving it with your lilac sweater too!

Today I am taking a look at three things that are part of Star Wars lore and how we might imagine them with our scarves. These are Lightsabers, Hyperspace, and Holograms.

Lightsabers
The highlight of many Star Wars movies is the lightsaber duel. This is the battle between good and evil, or in Star Wars lingo, Jedi versus Sith, or the Light Side of the Force versus the Dark Side of the Force. The nine movies forming the three Star Wars trilogies all have lightsaber duels. Here are some images from them and from Hermes:

From Left to Right, then Top to Bottom:

The Rise of Skywalker (Rey vs. Kylo Ren)
A New Hope (Darth Vader vs. Obi-Wan Kenobi)
Return of the Jedi (Luke vs. Darth Vader)
Traite des Armes (Hermes scarf)

View attachment 5396326

A couple of my scarves with swords or sabers are Daimyo and Au Plus Dru.

View attachment 5396329

Hyperspace
I love the idea of traveling faster than the speed of light. It is what makes interplanetary travel in Star Wars possible. The top image below is the view when a starship moves into hyperspace. Below it are two scarves that evoke this image, A vos Crayons and Magic Kelly. Other scarves that come to mind include Faubourg Express, Galop Chromatique, and L'Effet Domino.

View attachment 5396330

Holograms
The blue 3D holograms were how messages were sent a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.

We all have the first Star Wars movie we ever saw, and it can vary by how old we are. For me, it was the original Star Wars in 1977. I was fascinated, along with Luke, by the blue hologram of the beautiful woman with her desperate plea. "Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope."

View attachment 5396334

Who was she, and what trouble was she in? It wasn't until 39 years later when Rogue One was released that we actually see Princess Leia putting the message into the R2-D2 droid.

I was researching holograms in an attempt to find an Hermes scarf with this theme, when I came across these instructions to turn your cellphone into a hologram. I thought this was pretty cool, so here is the link.

Cellphone Hologram

And, here are some holographic images that you can play on your cellphone.

Holographic Images

I hope someone here gives this a try. I wasn't quite nerdy enough to do it myself. In any case, here is my choice of scarf for replicating the blue Star Wars hologram. Pani la Shar Pawnee blue dip-dye. You may have others.

View attachment 5396339

My scarf of the day is Pani la Shar Pawnee Dip-Dye Triangle.

View attachment 5396345
You just amaze me @Redbirdhermes-- your imaginative connections are astonishing-- I would NEVER have thought of A Vos Crayons or Magic Kelly until I saw this post and then I am just completely in "face-palm, of course" mode. And thinking of a dip-dye as a hologram is inspired. Love your blue Pani triangle...
I'm going to add on to @Redbirdhermes' topic of the day: lightsabers. But first, a trip to a neighbour and more nerdlore.

I walked over to the Lucasfilm building in Singapore today. It's a couple of stones' throw from my office. The shape of The Sandcrawler really does resemble the Jawas' vehicle in A New Hope.
View attachment 5396566
It used to have a Yoda fountain in its surrounding garden.
View attachment 5396567
But today, I found out that during the pandemic, Lucasfilm sold the building and, with the change in ownership, Yoda too has departed. Here are pics of his empty dais, and the lush greenery which surrounds the building and grows verdant in the central courtyard.

When we think of the sounds of Star Wars, what comes to mind is the soundtrack music of John Williams. A lesser known hero is Oscar-winning sound designer Ben Burtt who created many of the ambient noises or specific sounds we associate with Star Wars: the drone of the Star Destroyer as it relentlessly pursues the Blockade Runner in the opening sequence, the harsh mechanical breathing that identifies Darth Vader, R2D2's chirps and melodic notes, and of course the thrum of the light sabre as it activates.

Have you ever noticed the many colours of the light sabres? I have a pair of dangly earrings made for me featuring two Lego light sabres which I wear with my little Lego Darth Vader converted into a pendant

Oh, this is stunning @laurenad-- I would just love to see it flat. I have ever seen this cw of this beautiful design...
Gorgeous!!!! Cosmic Sparkles FTW!
 "Cosmic Sparkles"-- you are speaking a NOLA girl's language @bunnycat! Here in the Crescent City we glitter everything that isn't nailed down and even those items are not safe during carnival season! Have glue gun, will glitter is my motto...
Hmmm. I was going to return this scarf but when I put in for the return/refund, I was offered 75 percent of my money back - keeping the scarf. Playing around with it to see if I like it enough to keep it at the reduced price…
I do hope you keep it @Teaforparrots-- some of my favorite acquisitions are unexpected like that. As @Redbirdhermes said, the scarf works well on you.
Such a beautiful colorway of Clair de Lune. Believe me, if you watched all eleven movies, your Star Wars knowledge would explode. BTW, I have some images of the Queen of Naboo's amazing outfits on tap for tomorrow. ;)
We are twins on CdL, right @Redbirdhermes? I love how our seasonal choices often coincide. And I cannot wait for some Star Wars fashion!

Great colorway for this scarf! And it looks lovely on you.
Thank you very much to @Cookiefiend @LKBNOLA @bunnycat and @Redbirdhermes about De La Mer Au Ciel. I really appreciate it!
Thank you so much @citykitty24. I am in good company here-- plenty of twins and sisters! I love your very successful green pairing, not least because it really changes the scarf's emphasis and makes that gorgeous hem pop! (love your nails, too)

Oooo that is a great addition to your SGV @bunnycat! Always love a preview :winkiss: And I love your Animapolis and this cute tie that I always try to copy...
LOVE that scarf, LKB! What CW is that, if you don't mind? I wonder if it's still out there (excuse pun). I also love the way you style yourself and tie your scarves. I learn so much from everyone on here.
What a very lovely thing to say @CedarWaxWing! Thank you. :flowers: This is cw 08 noir/jaune d'or/bleu. I snagged it online after an obsessive few days of refreshing the H.com page constantly last summer. But it is out there-- I know of at least two fellow TPFers who acquired theirs from resellers. And I agree with you 100% that this is a generous and supportive community for scarf lovers.

I’m super late to the game but my first 70 cm came today!! I discovered this design and the CW super late and as soon as I saw it on IG I must hunt it down! Thank goodness my local store was able to locate one out of state! Love it!

While May the 4th celebrates the Jedi and the Light Side of the Force (May the Force Be With You), May the 6th is sometimes known as Revenge of the Sixth, after the movie Revenge of the Sith, and celebrates the Dark Side of the Force. (I know, sometimes it is May 5th, Revenge of the Fifth, but I like the alliteration of the 6th better, and besides, the 5th is already Cinco de Mayo, which my Latino neighbors down the street are definitely celebrating. I decided to let them have their day.)

I'm not all that familiar with the Sith, probably because they are scary, and I tend to avoid scary things. However, here are a few Star Wars Sith.

Lord Darth Vader is probably the best known Sith Lord. I would be terrified to run into this guy. It is clear others in the Star Wars movies are equally frightened of him.

DarthVader.jpg

Darth Sidious was Chancellor Palpatine, and his double identity wasn't known until it was too late. Killing these guys doesn't even seem to work as they keep coming back in spirit form and apparently more powerful than ever.

DarthSidious.jpg

And, my personal favorite, because he looks so darn cool, is Darth Maul.

Darth Maul.jpg

In any case, I expect that the upcoming Star Wars television streaming series Obi-Wan Kenobi will be an excellent education in the Sith. This show will focus on the years Obi-Wan was in exile on Tatooine watching over a young Luke Skywalker as he grew up. This sounds a bit boring, but throw in some Sith who are hunting them, and things could get a lot more exciting.

Moving on to some Star Wars costumes. In watching the first Star Wars trilogy, Episodes I - III, I absolutely fell in love with the stunning costumes worn by Padme Amidala, Queen of Naboo, and later Senator of Naboo. Here are a few of them.

Amidala Costumes.jpg

This outfit was inspired by a Mongolian wedding costume.

PadmeSenateGown_MongolianWedding.jpg

I wanted to spend a day comparing her costumes to our scarves, but my efforts quickly died when I realized that I did not own any of the scarves that I thought would be perfect for this topic. Some ideas that came to mind include:

Splendeur des Maharajas (so, so perfect here, since Padme is royalty)
Soiree de Gala
Siam
Costumes Civils Actuels
Cosmogonie Apache
Coiffes Normandes
Tresor du Nil
Tutankhamun
Turqueries en L'Honneur
Wa'ko-ni
La Comedie Italienne (also has a theater reference)
Costumes des Departments

You get the idea. I'm sure there are others. And, I don't own any of them.

Finally, wouldn't Passementerie with all those tassels be a perfect scarf for this amazing outfit?

Failing as I do in the Star Wars queenly costume scarf department, today's scarf celebrates the Dark Side of the Force. My scarf of the day is C'est la Fete, complete with skeleton and stars. All for the Revenge of the Sixth.

@Redbirdhermes You know so much more than I do about Star Wars, so I knew you would come up with something! Yes, I love all the animals on Wild Singapore. Very fun!

@LKBNOLA Thank you very much! The nail color is Essie's Mint Candy Apple.

I’m super late to the game but my first 70 cm came today!! I discovered this design and the CW super late and as soon as I saw it on IG I must hunt it down! Thank goodness my local store was able to locate one out of state! Love it!

Congratulations on tracking it down!

Great combination of sweater, scarf and pearls!

Thank you so much for showcasing Amidala’s costumes! My brother loved Star Wars as a kid/teen and I must have seen the films countless times. The quality of the second trilogy is certainly debatable but sometimes I watched them with my brother solely for Amdiala‘s costumes. They were absolutely stunning and highly imaginative. Natalie Portman wearing them didn‘t hurt either.

I am woefully deficient in Star Wars lore and knowledge so I am leaning hard on the obvious connections in my scarf drawer with a powerful assist from @Redbirdhermes' wonderfully creative examples. This has been posted before but here is my most starry and galactic scarf-- the beautiful Clair de Lune (fortunately there are comets, stars and cosmic dust sprinkled in every corner!)

Very beautiful, this is a lovely cw which is soft and has yet enough contrast to make the white stars pop against the blue background. The almost golden, sun like hem is a great addition to the celestial theme.

Good Morning! When my grandson was younger, he thought the bridles on my Brides de Gala scarf were astronauts or robots. He was quite insistent on that point so I'm going to run with his Rorschach impression to link three iterations of this design to our theme. First a flat photo so you can see that he has a point!

Fantastic post! I do hope the scarfies that have those designs you mentioned post some of them. I love your C'est la Fete with blue-- we are twins on this one but I have never tried this pairing. Straight into the "note to self" file! I loved seeing the photos of those amazing costumes for the Queen and Senator. Here is a fun photo of the headdress, wig and mask I wore when I rode in Mardi Gras 2020 just before the Pandemic. Do you think I could give Padma Amidala a run for her money?
