This is a gorgeous scarf, the colours are so soft, pretty and feminine. Pairing it with the chevron pattern is unexpected and marvellous.I am going to catch up later, but sharing my newest iteration of Faubourg Tropical!. Like the planet Dagobah (thank you @Redbirdhermes for furthering my woeful Star Wars education) one of the countries where I grew up had a rain forest and it was always magical to go-- we felt that we had landed in some mysterious "otherwhere"...

This is gorgeous, absolutely wonderful whichever way you tie it! And since it has all the colours of the rainbow it has a celestial motive, too.Back home again in Indiana with a beautiful memento… I’m gonna tie it in with the theme ‘cause it’s totally outta this world.

A beautiful design in a great cw and it looks great with the pearl necklace! You are right, the Ewoks would feel right at home in it.Those adorable Ewoks lived on the planet Endor, a forest planet. Alas I can find no Ewoks in Maitres de la Foret

Pythéas is wonderful, the mosaic border alone makes it a standout design!SOTD to do errands, Carrêve. Love this beauty so much.

And scarf mail from a few weeks ago, my favorite cw of LVdP, and on theme because PYTHÉAS would need the heavens to chart his course!

You own the „original“ Faubourg Tropical! Jardin de Leila is so very beautiful and your cw is super elegant. Moorish gardens are real marvels, no surprise they inspired this wonderful design.I'm an original trilogy fan. You could say Star Wars set me on my career path. It awakened in me an interest in all aspects of TV and movie production. While my friends were reading Cosmopolitan, I was devouring American Cinematographer. Although I never did become a visual effects specialist, I did end up joining a media company.
Stars Wars: A New Hope begins on the desert planet of Tatooine. Luke meets Obiwan Kenobi when the latter scares off some Tusken Raiders. The heavily cloaked nomadic tribe are reminescent of our desert dwellers, although Banthas are much more scarier than horses!

Today I'm taking a deeper look at various Star Wars planets, and giving a few of my picks for scarves that remind me of these places.
My favorite Star Wars planet has to be beautiful Naboo. There were so many choices of images for this planet, but I'm going with these amazing waterfalls. In this image young lovers Anakin and Padme are enjoying a picnic in a beautiful meadow, and it's no wonder that they fell in love in such a place. The falls remind me of Hermes on the Beach, but scarves with prairie plants, insects and flowers will work as well. Some examples are the beautiful Au Coeur de la Vie, Au Bout du Monde, or L'Ile Deserte.
View attachment 5393964
The Sands of Tatooine. Again, there are a lot of images of this planet, but this view of travelers on foot approaching Jabba's Palace reminds me of La Femme aux Semelles de Vent. Of course, Hermes on the Beach has lots of sand as well. Another scarf with travelers that reminds me of the slow travel on Tatooine is Sous le Cedre.
View attachment 5393965
The Ice planet Hoth. Cold weather scarves such as Gronland and Au View du Grand Nord come to mind. Here we have Gronland.
View attachment 5393966
The Jungles of Dagobah. The jungles of Faubourg Tropical make it an obvious choice. Wild Singapore is an excellent choice as well, as Singapore not only has jungles, but its own Yoda statue.
View attachment 5393967
The Cities of Coruscant. The Battery New York is my first choice. But, any city scarf works as well.
View attachment 5393968
The Oceans of Kamino. I like De La Mer Au Ciel, but again, there are lots of scarves depicting ocean water.
View attachment 5393971
The Canyons of Utapau. Here I'm wearing my Les Canyons Etoiles bandana. From the canyons to the stars. Absolutely on theme.
View attachment 5393972
The Forest moon Endor. This looks so much like Into the Canadian Wild. Another woodsy scarf is Acte III which has a woods on stage, as well as a moon, and it hits the theater theme for the week.
View attachment 5393973
And finally, for Star Wars Mandalorian fans, we have the lava fields of Nevarro. I'm matched it with this volcano spewing out lava in Cosmographia Universalis.
View attachment 5393974
I'm wearing Into the Canadian Wild today, with its stars, forests and butterflies, and thinking that I'm glad that the Rebel Alliance defeated the Galactic Empire in the Battle of Endor.

A gorgeous scarf for a lovely lady. I love how you found an image of Tatooine with the pink sky that matches your Space Derby.
But did you say racing? And Tatooine?

Say no more. Love your scarf!
Horses are integral to Hermes, and to many of their scarf designs to this day. Many alien beasts in Star Wars are ones that are either ridden, or used as pack animals similar to horses. I thought I would focus today's discussion on these particular alien beasts in Star Wars. Note the interesting tack being used on the various alien animals. Feel free to wear your scarves showing animals being ridden, or those with horse tack, which has been adapted here for riding these aliens.
The first Star Wars movie came out in 1977 (and was renamed to A New Hope on rerelease in 1981) and featured a Bantha, which was ridden by the Tusken Raiders on Tatooine. Wookiepedia tells us that the Banthas were portrayed by a female Asian elephant named Mardji, who was provided by the Marine World Africa USA amusement park. The lower photo is of a Bantha being ridden by Boba Fett in The Book of Boba Fett live action television streaming series earlier this year.
View attachment 5394648
Here is a Tauntaun being ridden by Luke Skywalker on Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back. A tauntaun's thick skin helped them to survive the icy conditions on Hoth, where temperatures at night could reach -60C.
View attachment 5394649
Fathier racing on Canto Bight was used for gambling in the casinos. Fathiers could run up to 75 kilometers per hour across various terrains. They were tall animals and stood 3 meters high at the shoulder. They were seen in The Last Jedi.
View attachment 5394650
A Blurrg, from Arvala 7, is here being ridden by the Ugnaught Kuill on The Mandalorian. The Mandalorian himself was frustrated trying to break a young Blurrg for riding. The process was similar to breaking a horse.
View attachment 5394651
View attachment 5394656
Orbaks are native to the planet Pasaana, and are shown here from The Rise of Skywalker. When riding an Orbak, a rider could steer them by directing their tusks, while a separate beast collar kept the saddle in place and allowed the rider to maintain control should the reins break free. I read an interview with actress Naomi Ackie (right in the photo below) who took months of horse-riding and archery lessons in order to be able to shoot arrows while riding without holding the reins.
View attachment 5394652
This is a very cool photo of riding the Orbaks during an attack by the Resistance in a ground assault atop the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer Steadfast, the flagship of First Order Allegiant General Enric Pryde in The Rise of Skywalker. When the movie was first released these creatures were immediately dubbed to be space horses. This definitely reminds me of Space Derby.
View attachment 5394653
Obi-Wan Kenobi is here riding a varactyl in full stride in Attack of the Clones. These animals were strong enough to navigate the often vertical landscapes of Utapau. This huge saddle makes me wonder if it was meant for a much larger rider than Obi-Wan.
View attachment 5394654
Here is Obi-Wan Kenobi on Tatooine leading an Eopie. This is a screen grab from a trailer for the new Kenobi series coming out in late May. The Eopie looks almost like a camel, and is well adapted to the harsh environment which makes them very useful for carrying luggage or people across the desert. Compared to the Banthas ridden by the Tusken raiders, Eopies are far less likely to grab the attention of onlookers, which makes them a good choice for a Jedi in hiding.

My scarf today is Acte III, Scene I with its theater stage containing a forest reminiscent of Endor, Bottom whose head has been transformed into a donkey making him alien indeed, and the moon shining above.

You have a very impressive scarf collection and I love how much I learn and relearn about Star Wars. Thank you so much for taking the time to write your information-packed posts!Today is May the Fourth, or Star Wars Day. May the Force be with You!
A Star Wars movie is distinguished by having a war using spaceships between the stars. Many of the movies open with a battle scene in space and starships flying all about. Revenge of the Sith has a notably colorful opening space battle sequence.
View attachment 5395487
A starship with a hyperdrive can skip around the galaxy at faster than the speed of light. Now, that is the way to travel!
Here is a small starport on the volcanic planet Navarro, with a few starships parked just outside the city. This reminds me of some of my local airports.
View attachment 5395491
Yes, that's me from a few years ago with our flying club Piper Lance. It goes considerably slower than the speed of light.
The starships in Star Wars are many and varied, but the Millennium Falcon, flown by Han Solo, is arguably the best known.
View attachment 5395494
Here I am wearing my Millennium Falcon t-shirt along with Tigre Royal Fleuri for a game at the local ballpark.
View attachment 5395496
On Star Wars Night at the ballpark, you can see many Star Wars characters milling about. Even our baseball players are renamed for the occasion.

The Space Shuttle was a spaceship, capable of flying in orbit and returning to Earth. It is pictured on Reves d'Espace.

Dreams of Space certainly fits our theme for the week. It can come in many forms. Here is Prince Harry on the set of The Last Jedi. He is clearly thrilled to be getting A-Wing flight instruction from Luke Skywalker himself.

My scarf for Star Wars Day is a new-to-me Sous L'Egide de Mars which celebrates the armor so prevalent in Star Wars. In addition, I've added my Mandalorian Mythosaur skull pendant.

Happy Star Wars Day to all, and May the Force be with You!
Happy Star Wars Day, dear scarfies! May the Force be with you!
In honour of my nerdiness, let's talk about the famous speeder bike sequence in the forest of Endor. It was filmed using a Steadicam, a piece of equipment that was revolutionary for its time (yes, I get excited over broadcast equipment the way others get excited over a Birkin - the cost is about the same)
Film video is shot at 24 frames per second. For the speeder bike sequence, the cameraman walked through the forest capturing video at 1 frame per second. Once the footage was played at normal speed, we get the astonishingly dizzy fast trip through the trees. The Steadicam (object of my affection- swoon!!!) uses an arm and gimbal rig to hold the camera steady when filming on uneven terrain. The actors were then filmed on a speeder bike in front of a chroma key background, and then the two or more images were combined using optical layering.

My actual scarf today: Dress Code - using the more wildly coloured side with aliens and humanoids. And wearing one of my many Star Wars Tshirts.

In the first movie (episode 4) there was an x-wing fighter buried in the swamps of Dagobah, and Yoda used it to teach Luke how to use the Force to levitate it out of the water.
Kermit Oliver’s Vie au Sauvage isn’t as dank as Dagobah but I’m envisioning an x-wing plane just below the surface.

Beautiful @de vent and I am a recent twin on that gorgeous bronze "Pivoines" -- love your styling of it.

Thank you dear RBH!That speeder bike sequence in Return of the Jedi has aged amazingly well. As I was rewatching the movie at home on my big screen television, I had to keep telling myself that I really didn't have to keep ducking. Thank you for some more background information, and what a wonderful scarf to tie into the theme.
I never connected Dagobah with La Vie Sauvage du Texas, but of course you are correct. There could indeed be an X-Wing in that swamp. I recently picked up this Kermit Oliver design, and I'm looking forward to wearing it during flowers week. Wonderful scarf tying, also. You are on a roll this week! Thanks!
Of course! I was hoping that Exposition Universalis would make an appearance this week. Absolutely on theme! Thanks!
All perfect, and congratulations on your Mythiques Phoenix, a truly mysterious alien bird! Thank you, Cookie!
Wonderful choice and a beautiful scarf, LKB! I have a short essay on Star Wars garments coming up, but it didn't go as far as it could have. I found that I simply don't own the scarves that would be on theme.
Love it, xincinsin!
Riding elephants, like riding horses, is definitely on theme this week. You look lovely! Enjoy your new-to-you scarf.
Star warrior, riding, weapons, tack, exquisite robes, so so many tie-ins to our theme. Thank you and such a beautiful scarf.
Thank you, littlefoxes, this is such a special, special design.Pythéas is wonderful, the mosaic border alone makes it a standout design!
