Yes! And thank you-- especially coming from you, our Pearl Maven-- these were my MIL's double strand set. I cherish them and used to wear them almost every day. I had also a triple strand from her mother and I had the jeweler split it into three strands with birthstone clasps for her three great granddaughters. They received their heirloom pearls on their 18th birthdays. We made small extra links so that each strand would be slightly longer than a choker. Pearls are like nothing else. As you so beautifully show...
As a person who adores pearls, please let me chime in with the Pearl Love. What a great idea to make heirloom pearl gifts for family, Lkb. Each of you (@LKBNOLA, @Katharina Luise, and @Redbirdhermes) wear your pearls with elegance, grace and great style. Panache, indeed!

Forgive me Scarflandia for I have not posted in weeks! Life has been getting in the way (many of you can relate to ill parents, visiting relatives, the passing of a beloved pet, the addition of new pets) and once a day gets away from me it’s impossible to keep up beyond hitting the like button. Le sigh.

Things are settling down and my heavens I have enough fodder to post several new-ins every day this week (three cheers for retail therapy!).

I started the year adding L’Ivresse, DUJA and Premier Chant

Dear Snausages, I was so busy when I responded to your post that I only managed to comment on your beautiful scarves, so let me say right now that I am sending you comfort for the burdens life has been dealing you :hugs:. Yes, retail therapy has its place in our lives. So does the sheer beauty of our silky treasures. And dang! That L’Ivresse is one happy cw!

Happy Sunday, dear Scarfies, and thank you, Fifi @Living.la.vida.fifi, for your lovely Advent celebration of purple scarves, so many colorful beauties, and to everyone who showed off your treasures this week. I think of this week’s theme as a continuation of the last, as Fifi expressed it perfectly, “The joyful season beckons us to be a little more festive, merry and bright and what better way to show it than with our beloved silks.”

Jingle Bell Rock: Festive Scarves to Rock Your Holidays!
Welcome to the start of this sacred and peaceful time for all of us, a time of reflection, celebration, merrymaking and light. Hannukah, the Festival of Lights, begins tonight, December 18, with the lighting of the first candle of the Menorah. Today, the Fourth Sunday of Advent marks the start of Christmas week. Wednesday is the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year, but also the beginning of a ‘new year’ of lengthening days. December 26 begins the African festival of Kwanzaa, or “First Fruits”. Each commemorates the shared promise of rebirth and renewal for all living things, and we welcome this time with joy. So let’s don our festive apparel, our sparkly jewelry, and of course, our beautiful, celebratory scarves as we begin our holiday season!

Festive SOTD, La Comedie Italienne by Phillipe Ledoux. Depicting the Commedia dell’Arte and all its reveling stock characters, I find this gem to be perfectly lovely for celebrating.

En pointe, also, because today is the 130th anniversary of the debut of Tschaikovsky’s iconic Nutcracker ballet. It premiered December 18, 1892 at the Imperial Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg.

Ivan Vsevolozhsky's original costume sketch for The Nutcracker (1892)

In the cast is a character called Mother Ginger whose skirt contains adorable Polichinelles, or little Pulchinellas, a Commedia dell’Arte stock figure of some importance . Here is their dance from New York City Ballet’s 1993 Nutcracker film. Macauley Culkin, already a star, was also a student at the School of American ballet, and was given the starring role of the Nutcracker Prince. Enjoy!

My Nutcracker display, complete with Sugarplum, pointe shoes, and a photo of the composer who made it all happen.

Thank you so much dear Karenska for hosting our holiday week  There was so much gorgeousness to see and so much inspiration! And a big thanks to all of you fellow scarfies for taking the time and showing scarves, jewelry, christmas and Hannouka decorations, cakes and everything else  I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxed time despite the terrible weather conditions in the US and Canada. :hugs:

Save The Best For Last: Your favorite purchases this year, new or vintage

Happy Sunday and a very Merry Christmas, my dear scarfie friends!

I wish you all much health, joy, and blessings this holiday season and a bounty of silken treasures in the coming year. I wish to thank our dear @Karenska for hosting a fabulous week of holiday favorites. And, my apologies for being absent for most of it as my week began with a series of unexpected challenges which put a halt to all of my holiday preparations. Through it all, I was finally able to get home and table ready for the holidays. Here are a few festive images which include the chocolate streusel coffee cake we are about to devour.

So, here we are wrapping up 2022 on SOTD with what is my favorite week on the forum for we finally have a chance to tally up all our silk acquisitions of the year and share our favorites. I personally plan to show all of the scarves that entered my collection in 2022 and, if you so wish, I invite you to do the same.

This year I purchased a variety of twill 90s, giant silks, 70cms, mousselines and CSGMs. I also purchased one giant triangle and tried a new-to-me format: the maxi twilly. This was a year of discovery of new designs, experimentation with new formats and fulfillment of a few coveted Grails.

A trend in my collecting habits that I noticed is that this year I gravitated towards adding multiples of a specific design. I also noticed I had a versatile year that incorporated wide varieties of formats and styles.

I kick off the week with my favorite 90cm twill design from the 2022 collections: En Liberté. This fabulous piece, especially for the dog lovers, is incredibly versatile and wearable. I purchased the first CW below in the summer, and was delighted to find the aubergine CW this morning under the Christmas tree.

This year one of of my all-time Grails entered my collection: the marvelous Doigts de Fee in this coveted CW.
View attachment 5677176

Speaking of Grails, this year I was able to find an extraordinary mousseline that I had almost lost hope of owning: the exquisite changeant La Rosee
View attachment 5677179

Since I live in a tropical climate, I have abstained from purchasing CSGMs lately, but I did add two long-time favorites to my collection this year. I had plans to wear one of my classic holiday scarves to Christmas Mass this morning, but we are having a cold front as the temps have dipped into the 40s, so it is the perfect opportunity to wear one of them: the magnificent, festive Early America. Not a holiday design, but one that I find appropriate for the day.

I am looking forward to this fun and exciting week as we recap our treasured acquisitions of 2022 and share our recent marvels. I expect nothing short of a dazzling parade. And, as always, I encourage all to share our actual SOTDs. It is a great honor and pleasure to host this wonderful week as we ring out another silken year together
A wonderful introduction into this week of showing our favorite purchases of 2022 dear Fifi! This is not an easy task because I bought a lot! The H-virus really got me :giggle:

A very happy Christmas, 7th night of Chanukah or holiday to all the scarf friends, sisters, twins, multiple twins, future twins and scarf-lovers that make up this wonderful community of silken friends. I am so grateful for your warmth, kindness and generosity and wish you all health, happiness and many orange boxes in your futures!

Yesterday ended up being a day trapped indoors with the ice storms we’re having, and no H: we stayed cozy in cheery red plaid instead! Keeping with a Christmas tradition, I did indulge in a little vintage Nuit de Noel extrait, along with our Christmas eve dinner. Pics below:

And, for @LKBNOLA, @Teaforparrots and all our other bakers, here’s the cake I spent half a day baking the day before. Not a festive cake, per se, but traditional for us: I make it every year as it’s my husband’s favourite. It’s a recipe I developed over the years, that’s somewhere between a carrot cake and a passion cake, with a few additional elements thrown in. Like Nola’s it’s made with oil instead of butter, and generous quantities of rum soaked dates, pineapple, pistachios, pecans, walnuts, carrots, cardamom and spices. Covered in a cream cheese icing and layered with ginger jam. It takes most of the day to prepare, but it’s worth it.

In honour of the day, I am making more of an effort today. There was some orange under the tree, so this may be a multi-scarf day! For @LKBNOLA, @Maedi, @Karenska and all the other Clair de Lune sisters and twins, here’s how I started this wonderful Christmas Day:

And here is how I am enjoying the middle of it, thanks to a lovely gift of a pristine, new to me, Laboratorie de Temps, a longed-for grail for me with its beautiful blues.

And, I managed to match my manicure with both scarves (a happy accident)!. a deep purple with pink and purple micro-glitters and a gold hologram confetti top coat. It makes me think of a sparkling cosmos, and is very apropos with CDL!

Thanks to @Karenska for hosting festive week, and to @Living.la.vida.fifi for a spectacular introduction this morning. I am floored by those stunning pictures and silks! I hope to reply to the many beautiful and inspirational posts and pictures over the next few days. Sending my thoughts and we’ll wishes to all of you in this wonderful silken community in the meantime.

PS: I have no idea why some of hese are posting sideways today. Or why there’s a duplicate pic below? I don’t seem to be able to fix it, either. Weird.

Oh, this is a post full of wonderful things, Lellabelle :hugs:. Where to start? It sounds like you had the coziest of Christmases, and being ensconced in plaid and candlelight, with a little liqueur and delicious confection with loved ones sounds like a perfect holiday to me. Your tree and table are so festive and is that white village on the table a music box? So pretty.
Congratulations on your lovely silky gifts! CdL is a great design, as we all love and know, and your cw is so special. So is your stunning Laboratorie de Temps - :faint:. Your manicure is  and those beautiful perfume bottles promise glorious scents, I am sure. (For Christmas Eve and Day, I wore L’Heure Bleue, a parfum I reserve for very special times.)

Dear Katharina, you are so welcome and thank you for your lovely message. :hugs:

Today I'm modeling two scarves that I was thrilled to be able to add to my collection during 2022.

First, the yellow Space Derby. I already have the navy blue Space Derby, and it is staying in the collection. I rehomed my pink Space Derby early in 2022, so I guess acquiring the yellow makes this a part of a CCP. The variegation of the colors and the number of colors in the hem vary considerably with this design, and the yellow is one of the most stunning. Which I noticed when I saw @Living.la.vida.fifi model hers, and thus it went onto my wishlist.

20221227_114347.jpg

I thought that Dans un Jardin Anglais was forever out of reach, but never say never. When this beauty arrived in the mail I finally understood why this design is so coveted. All the colorways are gorgeous. Hermes got it right with this scarf.

Thank you for a wonderfully festive week, @Karenska, and welcome to Christmas Day and to help us ring out the old year, @Living.la.vida.fifi. I am looking forward to your compilation of 2022 scarves with great anticipation.

I was delighted to find this most special Madison Party scarf a few weeks ago. It is perfect for days like today when our temperatures are below zero Fahrenheit.

View attachment 5677253

But my scarf of the day is one I found under my Christmas tree this morning. Chorus Stellarum in green.

View attachment 5677254

These scarves were both hard to find given that I live several states away from the nearest boutique. I do appreciate the sellers who, for reasons unknown, decided these scarves were not for them.

Happy Holidays to all!

Congrats dear Redbirdhermes to your beautiful finds! The green CW of Chorus Stellarum is so gorgeous!

A very Merry Christmas Day to all my beautiful TPF friends! And a very warm and grateful thank you to @Karenska and @Living.la.vida.fifi for hosting last week and this. I am thrilled to share a grail for me that also is 1) a crossover scarf from Holiday Week (and even from Purple Week!) and 2) this completes my collection of four De Passage Scarves. I will post the set as part of this week's theme as two of the four came to me in this calendar year. I hope that whether you are celebrating the 7th night of Chanukah or Christmas Day, you found an orange box in your pile of gifts much like the ones on my scarf!
Editing to add the title! This is, as @Redbirdhermes noted, De Passage a Moscou.

This is one of the most beautiful scarves I have ever seen dear LKBNOLA! Congratulations to this addition to your wonderful collection!
This makes an absolutely stunning plisse! You look beautiful and radiant @Katharina Luise and I love the jewelry you wore with your Christmas Eve outfit.
Thank you so much dear LKBNOLA :hugs:

Gorgeous dear Snausages! Each and every one of them!

As I was looking through my scarves this morning I realized that because of my complexion and color preferences, nearly all of them could count as festive scarves! I selected my weekend in space scarf to go with the fabulous earrings that were under the tree, and because I could probably use a weekend space holiday to recover after Christmas :-;

Beautiful scarf and I love your earrings! You look gorgeous dear Teaforparrots!
This is such a festive, beautiful combination. Gorgeous pearls and earrings to complement the scarf beauty. Frohes Fest! And thank you for your kind words.
Danke liebe Maedi! :hugs:

I love everything dear Lellabelle! Scarves, decorations, cake and I am impressed by your manicure!

So true! Sadly, as of this year the Limburger cheese I used to give my father every Christmas as a taste of his homeland is no longer available anywhere near me. I’ll always be able to make Lebkuchen or stollen though. Making sure to toss my scarf somewhere safe before entering the kitchen of course…
Laughing at your joke, but sad that some of the traditional foods you love aren’t available, TFP.
Your joke reminds me of Friday stopping by my dear Aunt Mary’s home to deliver gifts for her grandsons where she was making our family’s traditional zippoli. Ours is not with powdered sugar, it is with anchovies. It is delicious and you try to eat just one . But I was wearing my Cosmos plisse and became very concerned with the aromas wafting around and threw my coat and scarf in the car. (I decided not to add a stop to my cousin’s home on Christmas Eve in addition to going my sister’s for the evening as I felt I shouldn’t overdo it, what with having been ill in December; hence the gift delivery.)

I am going to do a "highlights reel" this week. 2022 was a year in which I completed my CCP program and also did some of what @CedarWaxWing calls "backfilling" from prior seasons. I continued collecting by artist, concentrating on Virginie Jamin, Pierre Marie and Dmitri Rybalchenko. But I also was lucky to add two Special or Limited Edition scarves: Voitures Exquises in honor of Queen Elizabeth and then more recently, the 100 cashmere silk souvenir scarf for the opening of the new flagship store on Madison Avenue:

Today’s SOTD with double Space Derby, incorporating my new twilly which was under the tree.

This is my first attempt at combining, which doesn’t work as well as I’d hoped as the reds aren’t quite a match but I’ll keep playing around with them.

View attachment 5677834
It works quite well, Paula. Congratulations on your sweet twilly.
