Sliding under the wire as we conclude this week’s theme, many thanks to our delightful host, @Cookiefiend, and all of your truly beautiful FOMOFs! Here are two examples of FOMOs for me. I first saw Encadre CS giant triangle on ebay; the vermillion/natural/cobalt colorway, and I was really smitten. But I held off, in part, because I thought “A simple color block design? Why?”. But I kept looking at it and, of course, it sold. Lo and behold, Encadre GT appeared on the US website in that gorgeous colorway and others and decided to take the plunge. But which cw? Well, I decided that the chocolat/blanc/rose was the best choice and I’m very happy I chose that one. All the other cws eventually sold and I had that nag, nag, nagging regret about the vermilion cw. Last summer it appeared on H.com, and so, with some of my US Census bucks, I scooped it up! FOMO, for sure. So I am thrilled to have two cws of this deceptively brilliant design. I can’t tell you how wonderfully calming these scarves are and how lovely they are to wear. They are truly top treasures in my H collection.

What a beautiful tablescape! I can taste those hamburgers, cold salads and corn-on-the-cob as I write. Strawberry shortcake, too! Sousa’s famous “The Stars and Stripes Forever” immediately pops into my head and fifty festooned soldiers march around up there in their crisp uniforms with their brass and woodwinds.
Happy US Independence Day, dear ScarfLovers, and welcome to this week’s theme, Americana: Kermit Oliver and Designs with a US Connection.

Kermit Oliver (b. 1943) is a celebrated and award-winning painter from Refugio, Texas. His visual style, which he describes as “symbolic realism”, reflects his Texas heritage and his love of nature, mythology, history, and religion. His painting “Tobias” was included in the 2016 opening exhibition at the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and his work may be found in the Museum of Fine Arts Houston as well as in the MOMA and the MMA. I find his paintings intense and arresting, full of emotion and empathy, and I can’t wait to see them someday up close and personal.

I could not find an image of “Tobias” but here are a few examples of Mr. Oliver’s art, including a self-portrait.

Mr. Oliver’s fertile relationship with
Hermès began in 1980, and over a 32-year period he created 17 magnificent and iconic designs. Pani La Shar Pawnee, Kachinas, Faune et Flore du Texas, and Madison Avenue are a few. My very favorite, which I have yet to acquire, is Les Mythologies des Hommes Rouges. Here is my fav cw of this magnificent design.

Happy Fourth of July and happy weekend all. Going for the red white and blue with my new to me Modernisme Tropical. Thank you TRR for losing another scarf I ordered, then showing this one plus offering free shipping and a site credit. A design-I-wanted discount red scarf for the holiday! Safe and happy gatherings to all who celebrate...
