Thank you for the wonderful introduction, Karen. I will be pulling out my two KOs later this week. I have more of his designs on my wish list for sure. In the meantime, I was able to identify a few scarves in my collection with a connection to the USA.

Today, I'm hosting a small holiday gathering at our lake home. Introducing my Beverly Hills mousseline, in a bright watery colorway. I adore mosaic scarf designs.

Two traditions in the US on the Fourth of July - picnics and fireworks.

What a beautiful tablescape! I can taste those hamburgers, cold salads and corn-on-the-cob as I write. Strawberry shortcake, too! Sousa’s famous “The Stars and Stripes Forever” immediately pops into my head and fifty festooned soldiers march around up there in their crisp uniforms with their brass and woodwinds.
Happy US Independence Day, dear ScarfLovers, and welcome to this week’s theme, Americana: Kermit Oliver and Designs with a US Connection.

Kermit Oliver (b. 1943) is a celebrated and award-winning painter from Refugio, Texas. His visual style, which he describes as “symbolic realism”, reflects his Texas heritage and his love of nature, mythology, history, and religion. His painting “Tobias” was included in the 2016 opening exhibition at the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and his work may be found in the Museum of Fine Arts Houston as well as in the MOMA and the MMA. I find his paintings intense and arresting, full of emotion and empathy, and I can’t wait to see them someday up close and personal.

I could not find an image of “Tobias” but here are a few examples of Mr. Oliver’s art, including a self-portrait.

Mr. Oliver’s fertile relationship with
Hermès began in 1980, and over a 32-year period he created 17 magnificent and iconic designs. Pani La Shar Pawnee, Kachinas, Faune et Flore du Texas, and Madison Avenue are a few. My very favorite, which I have yet to acquire, is Les Mythologies des Hommes Rouges. Here is my fav cw of this magnificent design.

Beautiful intro Karenska! I love that you posted some of his paintings. The self portrait speaks on so many levels, my Kachinas twin!

Aw, thanks so much, dear Bunny  - we are twins on a few! I am so glad that members are happy that I posted some of Mr. Oliver's non-H work. I am fascinated with his paintings and he has a few self-portraits and they are beautiful. I agree with you on this one. Many of Mr. Oliver's paintings feature a monkey. I am curious as to the significance, which I hope to understand with better research.

Happy Fourth, all. I will be lurking for awhile but liking and loving your beautiful silks and mod shots when I can. Our skies will be full of fire(works) tonight, so here's a tiny scarf with its own fire in the sky to go with my red, white & blue outfit.

Beautiful and informative introduction as always and your two Kachinas are breahtaking! I look forward to seeing all the examples this week. Happy Fourth to you!

The second eEncadre is Perfectly fitting for today, Karenska - thank you for your introduction and showing some non Hermès work of this painter !
Oh, thank you, dear Agrume :hugs:. I am glad you liked my intro and the addition of non-H Kermit Oliver. Yes, the Encadre is so special to me, I just adore it. But triangles are really my very personal fav format; they just work well on my frame. The 140s are a lit-tle too much silk, although I adore them, too. Heck, I adore them all !!
