My very best wishes to everyone for the New Year to all SOTD regulars, occasional posters and newcomers alike  .

The SOTD 2021 thread is now open and ready for business:

The new theme commences tomorrow (3 Jan - whenever your time zone gets there) but there's no reason why you can't post earlier if you want.

Thank you, Fifi. My scarf collection is a direct result of the pandemic, and having a pile of money from cancelled activities, and lots of time to search for scarves. I am a collector by nature, but I try to actually wear my scarves. Selecting a scarf and an outfit to share with all of you daily has brought me great joy.

To date, there are 90 90 cm silks, 2 CSGM, 7 moussies, 5 70s, 2 bandanas, 3 45s, and 1 100 from the men's collection. 31 were purchased new from Hermes, with 12 from the S/S 2020 (including 4 Les Artisans!), 9 from A/W 2020, and the remainder from earlier years. 22 scarves were purchased used from eBay, 24 used from TRR, and the remainder from various other vendors. I have paid over current scarf list price for just three scarves, Jaguar Quetzal, C'est la Fete, and Noel au 24 Faubourg, and the total overage was less than $500.

I haven't sold any yet, because I need to wear them for a while to see which ones I tend to favor. At this point I seem to have enough scarves to cover the various scarf wearing themes, although some of them will require a bit of creativity. (I know I can always choose to wear what I like.) I like the idea that these scarves tend to hold their value, unlike the pearls and other jewelry that I collected in prior years.

2020 has been a most unusual year, and I was generous to myself as far as scarves went. I fully expect to exhibit more restraint during 2021.
I am so impressed by your ability to hone in on designs you like. I started collecting over a decade ago and it has only been in these last few years I have started to get a sense of what works best for me. I’m amazed that you were able to find your style so quickly! Congrats on a plentiful year of scarf collecting!:flowers:

This was one of my fave buys of the year: Cosmographia. I resisted long and hard with many H-excuses like "the unicorn/sea serpent is too small". The true reason was because none of the cws suited me. Then I wuz enabled by the inimitable @lanit who showed the San Francisco CW and I :faint:

I think 2020 was the year when I finally accepted that there was no such thing as too many red&blue scarves  (goes with denim  )

Cosmographia, tied here to show Mr Kelpie.

Gorgeous with chambray

First, love your changeant and Zenobia and we are Cosmos twins except mine is a 'slinky'. Now for your gifts. Yowsa and wowsa, dear Bunny!! Congratulations, they are both stunning. I love them both but your glass-beaded blurple is fantastic. A double-sided moussie - I have never heard of such an exotic princess. But I have never seen, handled, or tried on an Hermes mousseline. (Must rectify that ...).

Thank you kindly! Yeeesss----- You must definitely ride the moussie train at some point!

Thank you for the wonderful introduction to Oscarf week, Fifi. All of my Hermes scarves were acquired during 2020, so they are all in the running for an Oscarf Award.

I like colorful scarves with interesting designs, and I tend away from horse bit, military, colonial and hunting themes. However, I have been inspired by many of you to look at vintage designs as well as neutral colors, and that leads me to my first Oscarf Award of the week.

Yesterday's scarf mail brought me a scarf from 1948 by Hugo Grygkar, which makes it my oldest scarf, as well as being older than me. Chevaux de Cirque celebrates the horse as a circus performer. I love the large ostrich plumes and I can almost hear how the bells jingle in rhythm as they trot around the ring.

My Most Vintage Award goes to Chevaux de Cirque.

Oooooh- congratulations on this wonderful treasure! I love seeing the really vintage ones! (Even though I know most of them would not look good on me at all, I can admire them from afar....)

:faint: I bow to you! Oh scarf queen!

Love this deep green on you moma!

All Cosmographia are  for me!

Scarf mail today!! Acte III, in a nice bright colorway. Can’t resist showing her off, even in my bum-around clothes (just my regular clothes at this point). Thanks to FoxyTrini and Karenska for the mod shots, they were so helpful!

Congrats on the lovely Acte III laurenad!

That is the battle cry of a true Scarfie. "No such thing as too many ______&_______ scarves". In my case, it is pink & purple, but the color combinations other posters here rock are truly amazing--Some I would never think of. Isn't there some pair of colors that excites each one of us? Embrace it.

 There's no such thing as too many kitty cat scarves....

I acquired 6 scarves this year, including one 70cm which has yet to arrive. First up is the "Cutest and Least Practical Scarf" award, which goes to BdG Nano. Cute, not practical, not sorry.

 I love it! I have a few oddities categories for this year too.

Hat Trick, what cw is the one on the bottom? I don't think I've seen one that very much. The patterning reminds me of L'art du Sarasa, which I have 3 of. I wonder if the same artists did both of these scarves?
Thanks for posting.
Catherine Baschet did the three in the photo. Collections Imperiales is the name of the pattern. But no idea on colorways. Love the one you are referring to! I have it but sadly have never worn it :-0. Darn covid! And totally agree on the similarity to Aline Honore‘s L’art du Sarasa. I love mixing of patterns like these two. Also reminds me of pattern mixing on Ex libris kimonos.

I bought 50+ scarves this year, of all sizes. (Does this sound like a beginning of an AA meeting?)

I will be sharing during the week, but my most favorite ought to be the one I got my husband for Christmas — red/navy cashmere and silk one. Because I am allergic to cashmere, he knows I cannot steal it, so it’s true love :)
