I was looking through my scarf drawer this morning, thinking that I don't have a lot of "cute" things in it. I tend to favor very graphic designs or classic and traditional motifs* and I had a sudden insight into why that is...

As a small 5'1" woman, I've been called "cute" all my life. And as a 12-year professional, it's quite irritating. While I adore cute things, I try to avoid wearing them and I go for the most serious clothes I can muster. I think this also explains my penchant for androgynous dressing (with trousers, button-down shirts, blazers, and lace up oxford shoes) and my lack of jewelry (aside from a minimalist watch).

Still, Hermes does inject whimsy into everything. So most of my scarves contain a good dose of something quirky. Here's one of my favorites with "pink sprinkles" on it. With the weather warming up, I might need to put it away for the season soon.

*side note: Alice Shirley might be an exception. I've suddenly and inexplicably been binging on her designs
I so relate to this, dear @FugitiveRouge ... we are very nearly the same height (I'm an inch shorter). Like you, I gravitated toward the geometric H scarves during my professional life... I also tipped toward the bright, contrasty colors like my red, white & blue Feux d'Artifices. Or the very classic H designs with a lot of gold in them. Now that I'm in a different phase of my life, I'm finding that I lean toward the softer colors and the less contrast-y designs.

Alice Shirley is one of my favorites, too, though I do better with her scaled-down designs (Dans un Jardin Anglais, f'rinstance) as opposed to the oversized ones (Zebra Pegase).

Whimsy is hidden in this scarf with such a serious and uplifting theme: the carp swimming upstream to leap the gate to transform into dragons. The drawing style is traditional and not comical. I chose a dramatic cw that makes the river look like a churning flow of lava. And then, when you look closely, you find five cartoony dragonflies hovering here and there. And my favourite carp is gazing hungrily at his "appetizer". Makes me wonder if this is the H meta method of reminding us to pause and smell the roses as we climb the ladder of success.
A Contre Courant

What a gorgeous FI with those glorious pinks!

Gloriously OT, mods please delete if inappropriate - don’t know where else to post - just visited H at Heathrow. When asking in English but pronouncing the name of the two scarves I was interested in in French, the SA just stared at me, I then showed her the names written in French. She then took my phone with the written names to the head honcho, however none of them had any idea of which scarves I meant. She asked for pictures and only then managed to identify the scarves. I find this quite bad management as they are selling luxury goods at premium prices. She admitted they had no training in French and had no idea what the scarf names meant. Sorry, rant over:smile:
So sorry about that! I’ve been sucked and disappointed at some of the things I’ve seen at Hermès lately

Lovely, xincinsin!

Fabulous fifi!

That FI is charming, Cookie!
Thank you!

What glorious CWs of these designs!

Every little inch of Grand Prix Au Faubourg is immensely whimsical. The two figures that always make me laugh: the horse wearing the skirt and the guy lying on the ground with his legs on the bench. I keep asking why???
:giggle: I feel the same!:giggle:

Not only the Cats but all the other fairytale characters! Such a great and quirky design!

Naah, it’s Puss in Boots, isn’t it:sad:
BOTH Puss ‘n Boots and the Cheshire Cat are there!

Pierre Marie designs often have fun and quirky details.

Such fun, comical, tiny vignettes everywhere! Reminds me of the game board of Le Toir de Monde and Madison des Carres and so many others...

I love the Indian astronaut! In fact, I bought this scarf because of him - the first Indian in space! And the aqua striped shirt - how fabulous is that?!?!

A new scarf and one that's quite special, Pegase Paysage for Saut Hermès 2019, which I excitedly wore and forgot to photograph sans wrinkles! :amuse: There are only 2 cw's - this blue with turquoise, and a pale pink with yellow and red. It's a carre wash, too! Soft and velvety and does not (to my mind) look/ feel like an old, much-used scarf, which was my "objection" to the other designs in carre wash. Never say never with H!!

This design looks interesting. If you don't mind, may I ask if you would be able to post more mod pictures of it tied in few different ways please? Considering if I should add this or not. Thank you in advance.
