My SOTD this afternoon is the special edition Central Park Conservancy scarf designed by Toutsy in 2007. This special edition carré specifically celebrates the restoration of the Minton Tile ceiling at the Bethesda Arcade and features landmarks including the Angel of Waters Fountain and the Manship Gates, with a backdrop of the Manhattan skyline.

Like Balade en Berline, Wlodek Kaminski pictures another historic carriage in his Coupe de Gala. This particular carriage was commissioned in 1894 by the Chinese empress Cixi and was created for her by the Parisian house of Mülbacher. The original was ornamented by a multitude of scrolls on gilded wood and embellished with jewels.

A beautiful gift, Bunnycat. You look great in pink.

Thank you so much Karenska!

Mr Bcat outdid himself! Gorgeous triangle!

Thanks xcs! He did! (Though I do happen to know there are a couple more in the stash coming up... :groucho: )
Why is it that you can look so good wearing a scarf this way?? I tried this, and I think I might be mistaken for either a beggar or a peasant.

The colors are lovely on you and go great with your hair! (If I tried this I'd have to be dressed to the nines to even hope to pull it off...)

Bunnycat, that is an outstanding gift, and you look lovely!

Thank you so much, Living.la,vida.fifi!

I'm glad you like it, Karenska. Thanks!

Thank you kindly bobkat!
View attachment 4625273 On topic, Aux Portes du Palais, in beautiful pastel colors. From an unknown source quoting Hermès’ scarf description:

A deep understanding of Indian culture, art and mythology inspired the designer to create the scarf Aux Portes Du Palais. Each detail, character, animal, plant and architectural element is deliberate and richly symbolic. The large doors signify the threshold between two worlds: the known and the unknown. Fruit-laden trees bursting with flowers represent the Buddha in Indian folk art and symbolize fertility.

The lotus flowers, the flower of the Buddha, represent spiritual blossoming. Emblematic animals, revered and present in all Indian traditions, are also present: the elephant – ridden by Indra, the god of storms and rain – brings peace and prosperity; the horse is the symbol of wisdom and formal beauty; the cow, a nourishing mother figure, is the very image of non-violence; the tiger represents the energy of nature… The four dancers next to the trees narrate the legends of the gods and stories from everyday life using graceful gestures.

In the corners of the scarf we see examples of the protective drawings women paint on their homes. The frieze surrounding the scarf, in the style of Indian miniatures rich in colorful decorations, is a tribute to the delicacy of Indian art, expressed in fabrics and temple decorations alike.

And off-topic, but no less fun (at least for me!), my Christmas present from DH, The Savana Dance! I adore this 70 vintage silk, my very first. The colors and design are just incredible. I have looked for it for more than two years, either in this cw or the fuscia/black. I am also in love with this format and silk. A treasured Christmas gift that I will love wearing. Au contraire. The trick is to wear sunglasses with the scarf tied under the chin. Jackie-O style.
