Hi Scarfies, hope you all had a lovely Christmas! My collection has been boxed up and is in storage, awaiting a new phase in my life. So I have only the stragglers on hand: the mostly second hand finds that arrived without a box. But back to the theme! To a historian like me, everything is history. I love my scarves because they are an extension of a long history of adornment, of sericulture, of trade and commerce and, finally, of art. Please forgive my contribution - it is my little joke. I knew when I saw this scarf that, hands down - no question about it, I had to own it. It’s nothing new - it’s the Wedgewood scarf. In Wedgewood Blue. OK I thought it was funny...

Something serious first: Reverie Pompeienne issued in 2002 to benefit the archaeological digs at Pompeii. I'm very glad that this is one of the few shades of brown I can wear and that it is by fave designer Toutsy. The artwork is highly detailed and one day, I'm going to dissect the symbology and research the sources.

And now some frivolity. H issues scarves for events which aren't big on the historical scale, but gee, they sure are pretty!
Flamingo Party for H Miami opening (@Living.la.vida.fifi has the other delicious cw of this)
H en Bias in orange and more orange for The Gates art installation at Central Park
Trophees de Venise in black and gold issued for opening of H boutique in Venice
And the hot pink Parures Oceanes celebrating 30th anniversary of the H at Palm Beach.

My amazing SO bought me a beautiful cw of Regina with a matching very soft sweater for Christmas. I wore them both immediately! I love wearing my scarves this way. They provide a pop of color, feel wonderful and stay perfectly put all day!View attachment 4623778 View attachment 4623779
I love Regina (mine is navy), and this CW is lovely! Looks pristine also.

Well done! I inherited some Wedgwood Jasperware from my dad, and I love it. I never did find the scarf in this perfect CW, but mine is a lovely light raspberry.

Gates has grown on me. I left it aside for more than a year after acquiring it because I thought it was too orange (ironical coming from an H fan  ). A few weeks ago, while happily digging around on the internet, I found the cw description: Capucine / Ecaille / Saumon.

Known to me as Victoires et Scenes Militaires de la vie Napoleon, this lovely is one of two scarves framing vignettes from Napoleon’s military history, created in 1948 and 1949. According to Fontan’s 3d, this is the one from 1949 aka “Victoires B,” although my seller indicated 1948 (“Victoires A”).

WWII ended just a few years before the 150th anniversary of Napoleon’s 1799 coup to take power in France—framed on this scarf as “XVIII Brumaire”. In the drawing of “Le Sacre,” Napoleon crowns his consort as it was considered too arrogant to crown himself in the original painting of the coronation by Jacques Louis David. The painting hangs in the Louvre, a fascinating story unto itself. The balance of the vignettes relate several victories, defeats, and other events—although not always completely and authentically. Well-worth further reading.
