Ladysarah, is this the palm scarf from AW 2019? It’s really sweet.
Would these ancient ladies of Crete be dancing?(Les Secrets de Minos)
I have a new, small 45 Square that screams out Christmas from every angle. The scarf’s called: Sea, surf and fun. Have a nice day!
BTW, I’m sorry to everyone who had quoted me the last few days. My apologies for not thanking everyone, I was supper busy. Now I have time but I can’t find who had quoted me. Please forgive me.![]()

I always love your creative thinking about our topics. And these scarves are wonderful!•••○⊙● DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY ●⊙○•••Dancers and dance-related themes appear in many H scarves. There is a multidisciplinary field of study "Ethnochoreology" which studies the role of dance in social and cultural history. Dances can be sombre religious celebrations or intimidating war rituals or enticing courtship displays. They can range from the delicacy of ballet to the flexibility of street dance to the drama of native dances. Dancing can be more than earthbound. You could term the gymnastics of Cirque de Soleil a dance, or say the same about synchronized swimming.

My favourite dance scarf is Les Danses des Indiens. There is a vibrancy about the image that makes it almost 3D for me.

In 2012, H did a series of 50s-inspired American sock hop parties around the world. The scarf released for those events was Swinging Silk. I like the neon rings round the dancing couple. This is a recent buy and I haven't even worn it yet. In my fave size 70cm.

Acte III is based on Shakespeare's play A Midsummer Night's Dream. This play was also the inspiration for George Balanchine's first full-length ballet. There is a film of the performance, recorded in the mid-60s. I watched it at one of the many film festivals I frequented in my youth. Fairies are a perfect subject to transplant from drama to dance.

And now for a more metaphysical interpretation of dance. One of the aspects of the Hindu god Shiva is Nataraja or Lord of the Dance. His celestial dance encompasses creation, destruction and all that happens in between. While Shiva has not appeared on H scarves, I like to think Mr Bones in C'est La Fete embodies much of the metaphysics of the dance of life and death. This thread explores the symbolism in the design and I'm looking forward to the next incarnation of Mr Bones in SS20.

"Dance" is a very evocative word. It calls to mind symmetry and grace. We use dance-associated words to refer to flowers and leaves twirling in the wind and the elegant swoop of birds in the air. And in many an H scarf, horses are prancing in a dance choreographed by nature and augmented by humans. This is Ballet Equestre.

This is so pretty! I don't think I've seen it before.Hermes gives us numerous beautiful horses dancing their way into our hearts. My favorite is Cavaleria, 1958, attributed by Fontan’s III to R. Bollinger, although only a few seem to be in step.
