Xcs, great intro and oerfect for Thanksgiving week. I love your Mustangs and Tsitkas silks. Two that haven’t yet made it

For me, this week holds bittersweet memories. My father was an avid supporter and promoter of Native American tribes in our region and oromoted many Friendship Dances and gatherings when we kids were growing up. When he passed away while I was in college he had amassed quite a collection of Navajo and other tribal artifacts that we kids then divided up amongst ourselves. None of my sibs wanted the wear or keep the silver and turqouise pieces, so they eventually were bestowed upon me. Every Thanksgiving holiday I bring or wear one or two pieces with One of KOs silks. I especially am fond of Kachinas, Pani la Shar, Les Danses des Indiens and the Texas turkey silk. I’m posting archival photos while I take new ones this week if I can get a moment to do so. I’m so proud to have KO in my collection. I never want to release his designs. They evoke such strong memories for me.

Beautiful and moving sentiment:heart:....and as always perfect pairings!

Some things are constants and some change in our scarf journey. A constant for me has been that when I like a design, I get it in multiples... my first was Kachinas and Flamingo Party and then Samourais.
Something that greatly influenced my choice of CWs was seeing everyone’s wonderful posts here. I usually have a first impulse about my fav CW of a design, but then somebody’s modelings pics will offer me a different perspective.
One of my most recent purchases is the caramel Pivoines. I was happy with the blue and pink and then I saw @lanit wear this one and had to have it
View attachment 4598318

A constant for me has been my admiration for Kermit Oliver’s designs, so adding the Pani carré wash is no surprise. I wanted one of his designs in this format and was debating between this one and a Kachinas. Modeling by @cherryblossum influenced me.

My latest H purchase is this Cosmographia. I still love the blues and dense designs like Samourais

And here I am with dear @Joannadyne with Cosmographia in the bag and wearing a new format to me: giant silk Tapis Persans

Tried the new giant silk format in another brand and loved it, so agreed to purchase my friend’s Tapis Persans. I am ready for more.

Hey, what’s wrong with this picture?

Finally, I tried a CSGM... I swear I had such guilty feelings after purchase that I kept it in the box for over two weeks. But, even though I will hardly use it in my hot and humid climate, I decided it’s too pretty to return, plus it was a bargain in perfect condition. I fell in love with this one as worn by lovely @Pautinka, so here is purple Zenobie

Love the various scarves - but most of all, I loved the pix of two of my fave TPFers!! Thanks for sharing these!

Please send your Santa to my house, too:heart:
Hahaha! Let me see what I can do...

Thank you - it’s such a cutie!

Hahahaaa! Thank you so much!

These are marvelous pictures and how fun it must have been to meet @Joannadyne! You both look so happy!
Thank you so much! And, I spent such a wonderful day with Joanna... the perfect day!

I remember clearly buying my first scarf. It was listed by an e*ay seller from whom I used to buy high-end pieces from time to time. ‘Ooh that looks interesting‘ I thought, not having a clue. ‘Musique des Dieux - a theme that fits well with my interest in the ancient world’. The picture below is of my wearing it at a wedding that year, 2012.

I don’t look like that any more but as I have aged I have got better at choosing clothes. Thanks to the wit and charm of Brenda Kinsel I have mastered dressing on the outside to look like who you are on the inside. This is an interesting process! As I have aged and my colours have changed I learned to play up the contrasts. So less ‘wishy-washy doesn’t this make me look pretty’ and more Grrrrey with equal emphasis on the Grrr and the grey (hair, not outlook).

As an example of how this plays out scarf-wise, look at the contrast between what I wore yesterday, Garde Robe Pop, and the first scarf I bought in 2012, Musique des Dieux.

And a final comment, on colours of course (because I am a colourist), the only scarves that really haven’t worked out for me are the peach-toned ones I purchased primarily because they would suit my skin colour. I know the difference when I look in a mirror and I see a scarf that makes my skin glow but in truth the scarves that are successful are the ones that make my heart glow. With the exception of black which makes me both look awful and feel awful.

I did say I was a colourist..
Wonderful pics and scarves! And, please pardon my ignorance, but could you explain exactly what you do as a colorist? It sounds fascinating!

Such a warm and welcomong sight for sore eyes fifi! Congrats on your latest choices. All so perfectly suited for you. Terrific to see for and Joanna meet up and share a day of scarf shopping too. I have met so many marvelous scarfies and friends on tpf! Our secret society of passionate silk lovers always am adventure. DH always ask how I get to know so many people around the world across many cities, and so bonded in our love of scarves and when we yravel we never know who we might cross paths with! Enjoy your latest beauties; your collection is growing quite rapidly!
So very true, dear... I am so grateful that zi found TPF and have met such wonderful people here, all united by our passion for these precious silks! Joanna and I had a beautiful day together... You have been such a great inspiration to me... Thank you so much for that and for your lovely words!

Just wanted the silkies to see the SE edition SF Cosmographia Universalis scarf. It has arrived in the SF store and readily available. My first Jan B. Silk believe it or not. I was waiting for a possible mousseline or 140 but the 90 printed silk has some lovely perwinkle blues and aquas with a pop of red hem that makes it a gem of a combination.

More photos on my IG. Have a great weekend!

Amazing and so special silk!

beautiful piks! where is dear @Joannadyne ? long time no see?!?
Thank you so much! And, Joanna has been very busy lately... As a matter of fact, our little get-together was during a quick detour she took from work.

kittyvoo, I just love the way you think! The shared passion that crosses those boundaries........

What a sweet thing to say, bunnycat! We truly are much better because we participate in this kind community!

Momasaurus, I am rendered speechless by your words....but I need to confess something. Sometimes I whine. I think it so human to whine on occasion!

Your words remind me of one of my favorite designs, lxrac: Tyger, Tyger.

Living.la.vida.fifi, you have certainly received more challenges from diabetes than I have! Ever shake you fist at the sky and say "Curse you, Diabetes!" Lord knows I have! Thank you for your good wishes.

What a stunning neutral that Pivoines is, fifi! I rarely wear 90 silk twill anymore, but your picture is tempting me! What fun to meet up with a tpf friend, Joannadyne!

Oh, I am just bursting with curiosity here, kittyvoo! Can you private chat me with more info on a colourist career? And I would love to discuss high contrast color vs harmonious color.
The Pivoines in this CW is delightful... Thanks so much, dear... And, meeting with Joanna was amazing! For you and those living with diabetes, all I wish is much health and success in dealing with this challenging condition day-by-day.

Y’all look like you had a blast! And the 140 scarves suit you!

I love the changes in design purchases! A very different approach from before!

Gorgeous lanit!
Oh, we must certainly did... a fantastic day! Thank you so much!

Mountain Zebra/ CW13 (marron, noir, blanc)@ the Bay today.
Have a nice weekend everyone !
Ooooh, this is the CW I am interested in seeing IRL! When you have a chance and you wear it again, would you mind taking some closeup pics?

I love that first pic - such a cute shot!

The stories you tell of your life experiences are always a highlight of the thread, bobkat. Wishing you and your DH better health for years to come.

Twins on the Pivoines. It's a lovely cw!
And twins too on the hot and humid climate, and the CSGMs in the cupboard which I shall confess about a couple of weeks from now - winter and cashmere theme coming up, everyone!

Oh my! That was indeed an obvious progression in preference. And I like how you spoke of your heart glowing :amuse:
I must consider the effect of aging too. I was planning to get a nice candy pink dye job once I was grey enough, although neon green is also calling to me. Fortunately my work will allow me to come in rainbow striped hair if I so wish.

I'm drooling, lanit  Fantastic cw!

 There's a wealth of scarf topics if you click the orange tab marked SCARVES. Naturally that also leads to a wealth of temptation
Such a great CW and so happy to be your twin! Well, I’ve had some success with the larger formats so perhaps these are just the beginning, although I must acquire with great moderation in this climate!

:hs: THE WILD WILD WEST :btdh:
Kermit Oliver or scarves depicting cowboys & horses
This, mes amies, is a theme with nostalgic roots for me. I watched a lot of Hollywood TV in my childhood and The Wild Wild West was a steampunk/sci-fi/Western James-Bond-on-Horses TV series created before the notion of steampunk was born.

So, if you don't possess any or many of the around 20 designs which Kermit Oliver created for Hermes, do not fret. Feel free to run with the topic and show me other scarves with horsemen and equine friends. Or, in the wild wild spirit of that TV series, find a tangential connection, wear a bandana or do a cowboy knot - that counts too  !

I have a mere three KO designs. This is my favourite because of the lovely dark turquoise border and the highly detailed design which is a hallmark of KO's art. I'm wearing Tsitsika with Linares' Gibiers which has a similar cw border.

Another scarf which fits this week's theme without a doubt is Dallet's Mustangs. This one was issued for the H boutique in Dallas. A very spirited depiction of cowboys rounding up the herd.

Join me this week as we admire the magnificent art of Kermit Oliver, and explore the horses and riders for which the first H products were created.
Great intro to the perfect theme fir this week! When Thanksgiving week approaches, I bring out all of my KO silks. He has been one of my favorite H designers from day one. I just love your Tsitsika... one design I wish I owned! The border in this deep turquoise-teal is magnificent! And, here you also show another design which is on my wishlist and that has eluded me for years: Les Mustangs... So lovely!

Both Ladies look great!
Thank you so much!

That bronze Pivoines is spectacular on you!
Thanks so much!

Because if your telling the story of you dad and of your native silver collection, I always think of you whenever I get set to match my silver to my KO scarves. You have such an amazing collection!

Looks so beautiful on you!

For the longest time I avoided kermit Oliver designs, but this season I succumbed for this CW in the carre wash format.

Hahaha! Let me see what I can do...
Wonderful pics and scarves! And, please pardon my ignorance, but could you explain exactly what you do as a colorist? It sounds fascinating!

Great question although I may be in hot water here. By colourist I mean that I think in colour. Colour for me occupies the role music plays in many people's lives. I am retired (although still active) and more and more I find myself immersed in that aspect of reality that is real but without form. I have pretty much given up on value judgements around stuff being expensive, or conversations around whether things are 'worth' or 'not worth it'. For me participating in the colour-event of being dressed and out there in the world is an artistic event; not unlike a ballet, it's a technicolour response to the event of living.

But there is 100% no difference between me and ya'll reading this: this is what everyone does, every day. We reach for a colour combination that makes us feel optimistic, happy, calm, refined etc. and in putting it on telegraph these feelings (and hopes) to the world. It's not complicated or good or bad, it just is. I'm just aware of it so I call my approach that of a colourist. Also I'm basically tone deaf so I am kind of compensating!
