Playtime in other countries today. My SOTD is the delightful wonderland of Russian toys Zabavushka. First outing although I bought this years ago. Also first attempt at the Octopus knot

In the middle of the scarf is a toy soldier. He reminds me of the tale of the Steadfast Tin Soldier who is set adrift in a paper origami boat. Origami can be used to make pretty toys. Some of them are very ingenious "action toys". Try folding a pecking chicken! My origami scarves: Cocottes de Soie and Metamophose d'Une Carre.

Meanwhile, over in China, a deadly guessing game plays out in Turandot. The princes who fail to answer three questions forfeit their lives :hrmm:

In Japan, the exquisite decorative temari balls were once made of scrap cloth and used in handball games.

I used to play pick-up-sticks with a handful of brightly coloured plastic sticks. H has a luxe equestrian-themed version made from sycamore wood and elegantly painted to mimic showjumping poles. The sticks appear on the glass table in Faites vos Jeux and in this cute small cashmere scarf Mikado.

I can't have been the only one to have played with these as a child:

I really did not expect to like Aaaaargh! but I am in love with its greys. And the red (not really visible) is a perfect match to my dorky Kate Spade fox gloves, so it was meant to be. Also, T. rex!

No, you are not the only one to have played with plastic dinosaurs as a child, @FizzyWater . I loved them, too! I adore your Aaaaargh!, and I am also considering purchasing one. i am still torn between two colors, though. It is a tough decision. I may just end up getting a coveted 140 silk or cashmere/silk shawl, instead.

Hahaha.... Such a dedicated student!

So creative!
And beautiful - but that goes without saying!

Ohmigoodness! That’s awesome dude!

Well played Holsby, well played! :giggle:
Thank you so much!

In case anyone likes to play the horses (I’m really stretching here...)

This is so beautiful! And, you really are the Master of the Fifi Knot... You always makes such fluffy ones! BTW, this CW of the design is going on my wishlist... Gosh, this is such a hard one to find!

Your Noel is gorgeous!
Thank you so much!

Score two for Texas shivering souls.....Silk Mix as temp dropped 40 degrees in six hours....it ain't fancy, but it’s warm.
On the toy theme: coming of age in 1975, the apex of adulthood was acquiring the necessity of an apartment and a stereo system (e.g., toy). Silk Mix just keeps spinning the hits!

Such a cool design! And so interesting tied

Ace iii? Does Oberon playing a prank on Titania count?

Texas cold part 3.....

Went to the store to get some cat food like this....

The front blew in just as I got back from the store (like when I left the store, it was fine and in the 5!!! minutes it took to get home.....brrrrrrr.....

A hour later when I went out again, I was dressed like this...(Flamingo Party and a coat got added on...at least I stuck with a party format... )

Of course the Shakespeare scarf counts! It’s the reason why Hermès features it in their Games year! And, love how you tied both scarves together... That really works! What CW of FP is this one?

Scrumptious! You are giving me ideas!

A very dedicated student indeed!

It's such a great design. I have two packs of Tarot cards which I bought just because they were sooooo beautiful.

Not a stretch at all - I understand people with $$$ for big boy toys will buy racehorses, football clubs, and what have you

I took your advice to heart and bid on one... (It was the Superman that got me  )
Thanks so much!

This is great! I have a Faites and knew about most of the games, but I completely missed the sticks! Thank you!

Perfect and so clever!
Your Octopus knot is amazing too - I haven’t managed this yet in spite of the many tutorials!
I'm hopeless at the Bova knot - not for lack of trying. Maybe I'll give it another go today :P

You can always count on Gattoni for fun and games!

I can't have been the only one to have played with these as a child:

No dinos in my Barbie house, but I did buy DS1 plenty of Ultraman kaiju :giggle:
I might still spring for an Aaaaargh! After that Eye of Sauron connection, it's preying on my mind

This is great! I have a Faites and knew about most of the games, but I completely missed the sticks! Thank you!
Oh, do show! I don't recognize half the games. Mum was more of a gin rummy gal, than board games.

For me, making art has always been the greatest play time activity. Les Tresors d’un Artiste presents a 19th century painter’s traveling case from Emile Hermès’ collection filled with watercolor tablets, brushes, sealing wax, charcoal, goose quills and a myriad other tools for artistic adventures

The illustrations of Early America replicate the traditional American folk artform of paper cutting, or “carnivet” as well as “marbeling” techniques. I enjoyed both so much growing up...

I am a maze lover and always try to find and walk them wherever I go.... from Chartres Cathedral to Hampton Court to Villa Vizcaya.... While showing such a fun activity, the illustration in Paridaiza also reminds me of those tiny hand-held maze games that were found inside cereal boxes

Thank you fifi! The FP is a pareo (huge! 150x180). I don't know if it has a colorway name, but it is currently still available on the Canadian website. (and there was one on the bay recently for a good deal....)

OMG... OK, I had totally overlooked the pareos... It is stunning! Amazing colors... How do you like the cotton muslin fabric? Is it easy to wear?

It's pretty easy to wear. It's the purple on it that got me. It is not like the cotton/silks though, less drape. But a good option for a cold building in summer and wraps easily enough for winter too. The narrower 36x60??? pareos might be easiest as a scarf/pareo transition piece. There are some cute ones on H.com right now. (including a cute flamingo one....)
