I'd appreciate any input on how to work with an SA at the SF location on Post Street. I stopped in last week for the first time at this location and browsed scarves toward the front of the store, mainly to see the washed silk scarves, walked back for a while and browsed there in the men's section. The SAs were quite busy and I wasn't sure if I should approach one first or one of the security people. I wasn't really looking to buy anything, so I didn't want to waste their time.

Is it better if I call first to set up an appointment?

Wish I'd snapped a photo of the window display to share - will try to do that next time!

You can actually ask any of the sales to help you out. If they are all busy, go to the associates at the cashier and ask them to refer you one. Weekdays are usually less busy compare to weekends. But if you can only stop by on the weekends, making an appointment beforehand would help, just let them know you don’t have a regular SA. I have noticed they hired a few new SA recently, I’m sure the new SAs would happy to have new clients.

Are you able to make an appointment with your SA before coming in so that he/she can give you the attention you would like?

Hi everyone
I've seen and loyally sought out one particular SA in the SF store in the past four years since I moved to SF. She's helped with a few purchases here and there, albeit they have been small items - anywhere between $300-5000 per shopping trip. Truth be told I buy most of my K and B bags from the Paris stores (under my husband's account as he tends to be the one to go to the stores while on business and buy on my behalf so the big ticket items are under his name, his history) and I took a two year sabbatical from H while pregnant. I'm back to re-establish my relationship at the local SF store, but have found that each time I'm there, my SA is usually busy with another customer who is making a fairly big purchase (think B or K or another handbag, plus several other items). I can't fault my SA for giving them the attention they need but, on numerous occasions I have been approached by another younger male SA who has been really nice, attentive, remembers each time I come in, and exactly what I'm looking for in terms of items. Truth be told, I connect with him more than the original SA.

How do I 1) make the switch to this male SA without offending the other SA who is made aware I'm in the store but unfortunately cannot pull herself away, and without causing any friction between the two SAs?
2) is the above a really big no-no even though I have a much better connection with the male SA? His name escapes me but he's lovely (young Asian male - if anyone wants to PM me his name so that I can at the very least greet hm by first name next time I see him I would really appreciate it.
3) Does anyone know what happened to the old director Tony? I ran into an old associate of his who is now at Goyard and mentioned something about him having transferred to a store in NV or AZ?

Thanks so much!

Have you tried going in during the week in the morning/ early afternoon? I found the last few times I went around those times there were plenty of available SAs.

Hi there. I went through a similar situation a few years ago when my first SA left and I had to find a new SA. Thankfully I was familiar and friendly with most of the staff and found someone new to work with. I was with her for a couple of months and she was/is lovely. The next time I went in, she was off so I just ended up working with another SA who I actually had more of a connection/bond with. I've been with her ever since. So, to answer your specific questions:
  1. I just made the switch, no muss no fuss. It was very natural and I didn't make a big deal out of it. If you're genuine and positive, I don't think anyone will take offense. But credit goes to the SAs who to me are true professionals. If there was ever any friction, I (especially as the customer) never knew about it. This is as it should be.
  2. Switching to me was not really a big no-no. I also don't notice/pay attention/subscribe to a lot of the strategies or game playing that you may read/hear about. I just go in to buy want I want and try to enjoy the experience.
  3. Sorry, I don't know about the old director. I'm not dialed in that way. I did meet the new director though and he seemed totally cool.
Good luck!

Even if you're just browsing, I think you should make your presence known as @Momo_rose suggested above. It gives you an opportunity to maybe get someone's card and perhaps to call or email to set up an appointment for a future visit.

I’m curious who the sales manager is at the SF store. I picked up a hinged bracelet yesterday (will post pics later) that my SA set aside for me because she wasn’t available, so a very tall white gentleman helped me check out. He had a commanding presence that made me feel like perhaps he might be the sales manager there, but I didn’t want to assume.

The very tall fellow is not the SM - I have forgotten "very tall guy's" name, but he is very friendly and helpful. My SA is often busy and even whenI tell him that I am waiting for her, he happily pulls things out for me to look at. I think he would make a great SA, even though he is rather new, because he is so friendly, helpful and nice. I see him spending time with folks to make sure that they select just the right scarf, for example.

Thanks! My SA encouraged me to visit the store often so that the sales manager also gets used to seeing my face. TBH that’s a bit too much effort for me with my schedule, but I was just curious.

If he's really tall, probably Paul. He's my SA, I think he handles the menswear usually.

Welcome to the orange side! Here are my suggestions:
  • Go the store that is most convenient to you
  • Find an SA that you can connect with and will accommodate your style
  • Stock is always going to be a mystery, but SF is the larger store albeit in a temporary location
  • Buy what you want/love/need
  • In my experience in SF, there is no ballpark number as I've been offered B/K/C's with zero to low spend before
  • Good luck and have fun!
Do you have anyone to recommend? Gonna be visit there in few days later

Thank you all for your replies!
I went in last week to speak with my old SA, but found she was already with someone else. So, I asked for the name of the other SA who I was interested in working with and voila! Several items and an update to my profile for a future K or C request... got his card... and I'm going back to see him again today (to pick up a Kelly that was worked on by Dominique, and drop off another B for spa services, but also to grab another shawl... and maybe another Evelyne. Sheesh, I have a problem!) Must. Stop. Or not.

BTW I found out that all my purchases in Europe (Paris store purchases mostly - I have purchases from as recent as 2016-2017) do not show up on my profile, so I'm literally having to start over here in the SF store. Bummed about it, but that's okay. They also couldn't pull my husband's old profile up from Madison NYC store either, but then again he hasn't been there in many years so I wonder if perhaps after awhile your US-based history just goes away.

@cocomlle I'm the same way; I don't like the strategies or the game. I buy what I want.

@obcessd it's definitely Paul. And he's always lovely.

You may have visited the store already...I think everyone in SF is great, you can’t go wrong.

I’m glad you got your SA sorted. Don’t worry too much about your profile/history. You’re obviously an H enthusiast so just enjoy the shopping. Another shawl and maybe another Evelyne...yes please!!! :graucho::yes: Be sure to post pics!
