For my own experience in another US boutique, I think I can safely generalize (to apply to SF) that whatever winning argument an SA uses to get a particular client a coveted bag offer varies greatly. In 2023, I was roughly 5X between bag offers and I ended up not accepting two offers. In 2024, I was maybe 1.5X and I got an MKII noir epsom. Perhaps tenure; type of spend; potential for future spend; and even low maintenance amiability may be factors too.

ETA: if a persons SA is overdue for the SM to allow her to offer a bag, that may be a factor unrelated to a client profile.

I picked Marriott because I have points I need to use, how about the The Westin St. Francis on Powell and Post, I think this is an older hotel

I think it definitely depends on what you are looking for too, if you are looking for a specific bag. I have not spent much this calendar year at all. I am .7 x spend, and I got the bag I have been waiting for for over a year. My SA told me it was the color/leather/hardware combo that made it take as long as it did. I wanted GHW and she kept seeing PHW come in.

Hi all, I am new to this forum and looking for a C18. Been on waitlist for 6 months but haven’t heard anything from SA at SF store. I don’t remember her name but she was an old lady and seemed to have been there a long time. Will anyone be willing to share a good SA contact at SF store that I can swap and I might have better luck. Thanks much for the help.

It’s a wishlist, not a waitlist, meaning you have to continue to visit and shop, preferably with one single SA, to create a relationship and a purchase history to eventually be offered a bag. Have you continued visiting and shopping?

Sorry. Yes, its a wish list. No, I dont stay in SF so haven’t gone back. Also haven’t texted back the SA either. I dont know the protocol. I have heard that you need to have purchase history but I am not into anything else other than bags so I am wondering what the options are. I do see some folks get luck with their SA and get without history. That’s probably very rare. Looking for guidance and help. Thanks 🙏

The only guidance anyone can give is to go in and shop or go to a reseller. You won’t be getting a C18 from the store without a decent purchase history and relationship.

Got C18 recently. I was told C18 is non-qb but still need to build a relationship with a good purchase history. The difference between qb is pre-spend won't reset. Since everyone’s experience is different even within the same boutique, there might be a lucky others being offered differently but that was not the case for me and my friend.

The best option is reseller as per @acrowcounted . Without a significant profile or purchase history, a boutique offer is unlikely to be approved by any SA’s SM. The SA does not make the final decision. There could be exceptions where a walk in newcomer got a bag, for example, if a bag is declined by a current client and available, but you would have to be physically in the store. This has happened recently with respect to B35s and Kelly messengers, but I have not read of it happening with a smaller bag like a C18.
