Good question. I didn't plan on switching to Stanford, but after my SA retired, I was in SA limbo (and safe on Ban Island for once ). I visited Stanford and it was a smidge more convenient and better parking of course. I felt comfortable and welcome there since a couple people came from SF and knew me. I think they were trying to woo some of the in-betweeners from SF and who doesn't love to be wooed. For me, it boiled down to the stronger SA connection and I had it with a few more SA's in SF than Stanford...I had a history with them. So, that coupled with going into the City for that shopping experience, better stock and the remodel - all helped to inform my decision.

What are you considering between SF or Stanford? Aside from the SA, is location a factor, stock level, parking, weather (Stanford gets so bright and sunny in the afternoon!)?
I have an SA in Hawaii and I thought I was going to make it my home store due to tax rate and frequency of visit but we had some life changes and didn’t end up going there as frequently as originally planned.

As a result, I think I need to start looking for an SA closer to home. I live in East Bay so either location is almost equally inconvenient, although parking is a great bonus w Stanford. Given that I was willing to travel to Hawaii for my hauls I think inventory/assortment is probably most important to me. I have a C and a few silks but would be looking to start investing in my collection soon (hopefully w a B I can use for work!).

Any reccs? I’m going to be in SF next Friday and thinking about stopping by the store there. I’ve yet to see both the new SF location and the new Stanford store, and have no prior purchases locally (I guess I’d be starting from scratch then?)

It's been awhile since I posted partly because my SA retired and then I dabbled switching to Stanford for a bit...but I've made my triumphant return to SF with a little (or a lot) of enabling from @honu! We went on a Saturday, but right when the store opened so it wasn't busy. We had lots of "fun" with our SAs, more than should be allowed.

So, here's the bag dump:
  • One of those boxes is super heavy and not really cardboard (or really dense cardboard?)...some of you may know what this means, but it's my first foray in this category so when I saw the box, I was like "whhaaa?"
  • It was supposed to be only one twilly box, but "Twillys Don't Count"
  • Note: pesky cat was not part of the haul

  • Mosaique au 24 Platinum Box
  • Chaine d'Ancre Punk Necklace...in a super heavy box!
  • Jungle Love Rainbow Twillys (rose vif/encre/blanc - H063369S 04 and gris/noir/blanc; H063369S 10)
  • Murry, not content with all that ribbon, went after the twilly box lid...it rolled off the bed and onto the floor, and now the poor twilly box lid is not mine anymore

Welcome back to SF! Also twinsies on the twillies. We all know that twillies don't count.:lol::lol:

Ha ha ha, nice rhyme!

Just be careful and don’t leave anything in your car, either in SF or PA (I’m sure you know this already.) Car break-ins are out of control. Last time I was at H Stanford, the car parked across from mine was broken into and shopping bags were taken. (Here I was, lugging a bunch of orange to my car!)

There have also been store invasions (thieves storm in, grab whatever they can get, run out) at Nordstrom (handbag dept) and the Apple store.

Thanks for the heads-up. I’m going home to SF and visiting the PA boutique next week. Though I’m aware of these break-ins, it’s still very jarring to read.

In terms of stock level, I'm wondering which location would be more advantageous. Would Stanford be more of a "big fish in a little pond" type of situation, since I'm guessing this store would cater to more locals, versus the one in the City which would get a lot of tourist traffic?

I think for stock level, it would be SF especially after the remodel and it being considered flagship level (from what I'm hearing). For Stanford, there's a lot of "big fishes" with Tech and old money. If the store does really well sales-wise, I assume their stock levels will increase. It's been open a little over a year so time will tell.

If you're going to be in SF, definitely stop by the store and check it out. All the SA's there are great! I suggest visiting both locations so you can get a feel for them and see which you prefer...Town vs. Country if you will. However, if inventory/assortment is your priority, then stick with SF. I wouldn't discount just shopping and possibly connecting with an SA (at either location) that you might find an amazing rapport with. It makes the experience so much more enjoyable. Good luck and pm me if you have more questions.

Oh stop enabler! ;) When we getting our tatts?

Haha. Why thanks! I'm glad you noticed! :P

I know right! That cat! :annoyed: I need to accidentally bump into you at Stanford again. Hope all is well. :hugs:

Unfortunately I’m very familiar with car break ins and muggings - I was mugged and beat up in the Marina on my way to work a few years ago in SF, and we’ve had the smash and grab happen to our car parked in an SF apt bldg garage (silly thief took an empty lunchbag, definitely taught me never to leave anything in the backseat again). Always good to have the reminder as now that I live outside the city, I take it for granted and am always surprised to hear about the crime.

I am so sorry that happened to you!

I’ve lived in large cities for most of my adult life so it was bound to happen eventually, sigh.

In slightly better news, dropped by the SF location briefly on Sat w husband and baby. I’m guessing it’s still in it’s temp space? It was quite small and narrow. Someone (maybe one of you!) was being offered a k25 noir epsom leather in the center of the store, right in front of the bag display so I found it really difficult to browse or get help, with everyone standing around and gawking. I also wasn’t wearing any of my H and was dressed rather casually since it was an unusually warm day and I had the baby w me. Do you think that matters in attracting SA attention? I am always quickly helped in the HI stores where I normally shop, but I’ve never had the same warm reception in any US stores I’ve visited.

I didn’t get to shop for any of the items I was looking for so I’ll give them another shot, maybe without baby and husband. I think I’ll also check out Stanford just for kicks.

That's quite an interesting experience. I wouldn't be able to move my eyes if that kind of offering happens right in front of me.

I shop at Stanford and most people shop there regularly don't dress up (but they already have their SAs). Still every so often I see a croc B and can't help but point it out to my SA and the usual response is "oh that's a walk-in customer".

Correction - Now that I'm thinking about it more, I think what was being offered may have been a mini Kelly - it was teensy! Is that possible? Are they making the tiny ones, the 15 cm?

The mini Kelly is the 20cm I though? Fits nothing more than a phone.

Yes the client being offered the bag was trying it on and it was teeny. It looked more like an evening bag size, that would only fit a small phone and lipstick. I may have heard wrong that it was a 25 initially, I was trying really hard not to be one of the gawkers haha! I wonder if this bodes well for the stock at SF.
