I saw that some Saint Laurent bags on selfridges are cheaper (much cheaper than the current price tag in the US right now)... is there a reason for that?

Did you add to cart and see what taxes and customs were added?
In general, it is cheaper to buy in Europe and the U.K. but once you add in the customs etc the saving is reduced.
I have great luck with harrods and selfridges in the past. They are normally a bit cheaper, and I wait for rakuten to be at 10% and then it's a pretyy good savings. I got a pair of gucci princetown mules last month for $660 including taxes/customs and then 10% rakuten cash back. So it ended up being a significant savings.
yes I tried to checkout to see what the final price was, even with everything added, the after tax after shipping price was ~$100 less than the before tax price in the US
Last time I bought a bag from NM I had to do a lot of calculations with the gift cards and buy more things to get a price equivalent to what I’d pay at selfridges... that’s good to know, next time I’ll just buy at selfridges
The only problem with them is "Please note that we will not refund the original delivery charge or any applicable local customs duties".
That is why I decided against Selfridges. I'd better pay more in NM but will have all my money back in case of a return.
This is exactly what I had in mind and what happened to me as well. Ordered from NM and had to return my puffer because it had diagonal scratches on the front. Had no issues and reordered with Rakuten still under the 10% cb
I'd buy it right now somewhere else as a new price increase is coming on May 1. Not sure if any wallets will be affected though. As for pre-orders, I pre-ordered shoes in NM, they were moving dates several times and then few months later they just cancelled it. I was so disappointed.

Another Price Increase Alert!
As unbelievable as it may seem, YSL is raising their prices yet again (I think that's the 4th increase we've seen recently), and the increase is pretty substantial for some of the most popular styles.
Here are the bags I already saw for more at NM:
Mini Lou Camera Bag Was $1390, now $1450
Mini Lou Camera with Black Hardware is now $1490
Lou Camera Bag was $1490, now $1550
Lou Camera Bag with Black Hardware is now $1650

Ssense.com and BG are also showing the old prices on most of these.
