Hmmm I didn't notice who the SA was that answered the woman because his back was to me when he answered her. There were several male SA's in the store that I saw --2 dark haired ones and a lighter haired one that rang me up. They all looked fairly young to me but then again, I did not see the face of the SA who was speaking to the woman. The SA that helped me was a young pretty female with dark hair and light brown eyes. I also noticed 3 other female SA's-- a blond woman helping the couple next to me, and 2 Asians, one of which appeared older than the other. Because I am only 5 ft tall, they all looked tall to me!

Thanks, I was referring to the SA that helped you....Yes, most male and female SAs are young in the Rome store: the older Asian lady is very nice, she's mostly at the scarves.

Omg! You got offered a croc Constance! Lucky you 'cos I would have grabbed it.

i know, i kinda regret that i didn't get the rose scheherazade croc constance
it was beautiful
but really it would not suit my daily lifestyle anyway
the stores in paris got pretty good inventories last month,
the sa in paris offered me 2 lindies 34 in cacao and grisT, souffre toolbox 26, and sapphire bolide 31
din manage to score any B though

Omg!! Rose Scheherazade is one of the nicest colors and definitely the loveliest pink in croc!! I would have loved to see it , even just as an eye candy.

Just got back from the H store in Florence. Aside from the fact that the doors are locked and you have to be "let" in, it's quite nice. It's larger than Venice and Rome but not as well stocked, IMO. There were not many bracelets at all, a small stock of enamels, a few Kelly Extremes, didn't see any CDC's. They did have the Fall 2014 scarves out but only a couple of maxi twilly's and very few regular twilly's. The Rome Hermes had the best selection of items by far.

Bags included a gorgeous croc plume in a red/orange (for display only) a bamboo lindy, bamboo victoria, etoupe picotin pm, orange garden party, a colvert blue SO Kelly, blue and purple double sens and brown berlingot. There was one gorgeous bag that I never heard of or saw that was barenia/canvas. It had a barenia flap with a gold bar, was about 12x6x2 and had a canvas body. I loved the bag and asked the SA and she said it came out last year but is very rare to see and was 3,350 euro. Does anyone know this bag?

The SA's were lovely. I was helped by a young blond female but the store manager, a slightly older man who rang me up was also lovely. There was a woman there asking for a B and another older blonde SA was telling her that they didn't have any and had no idea when one would come in. She was being very insistent but the SA's were firm repeating over and over again that they had none and didn't know when they would get any.

It was a lovely experience.

Hope this isn't off topic but does anyone know how I could claim VAT for H items purchased from the Milan airport. I've heard some nightmare stories but has anyone does this recently? Thanks!

I don't believe you will be eligible to claim any tax back for airport shop items since the prices are duty free already. Thanks for all your updates for these Italian boutiques. I can't wait to go back and shop when the euro depreciates.

it depends on which H store at the airport you got it from, if the H store is after immigration/ passport control, usually there are detaxed already. If the H store is located within the domestic flight side, you can ask for the detax form.

I think you mean items you purchase in Italy & you are flying out of Milan. The line after security is longer than the line before security. Arrive 2 1/2 to 3 hours prior to your flight. The good news in all of this is that global, premier as well, has offices at the airport that will process your refund right away. No waiting 3 months for a credit card refund. It will be on your card in a few days.

Thank you pursevixen. That is exactly what I meant but didn't articulate correctly! I will try my luck at the line before security and pray it goes well. I've heard terrible stories about claiming VAT at Malpensa so keeping my fingers crossed.

Updating this thread in case anyone else is curious about claiming VAT for H purchases at Malpensa. I went to the customs line prior to check in at Terminal 1 near counter 12. There was no line. I brought my purchases plus my luggage. The customs officer didnt look at any of the items, he just stamped my paperwork and then I went to the next counter which is the Global Blue counter.

I handed my stamped paperwork. They asked if I wanted cash or credit. I chose credit and it will be refunded in 5 days. Painless, easy and quick despite the many horror stories I read online about claiming VAT at Malpensa.

Bottom line- don't be afraid of purchasing H items in Italy as VAT claims are easy and you do save some money in the end :)

Is there a difference in the refund amount between cash and credit?

sometimes they'll deduct a service fee for each detax form, 2-5 euro per se;
for Credit card no deduction of service but you need to take the chance of the exchange rate because it fluctuates. And they never credit the card back in Euro, either GBP or your local currency.

The gorgeous barenia/canvas bag with the gold bar that you saw is called the Sillage. I was thrilled when I saw it just sitting out on display in the Nice store last summer. I had never heard of it or seen it anywhere before, but it was unique and practical and modestly priced (for an Hermes bag), so of course I grabbed it! It traveled back nicely in my carry-on. I had to research it when I came back home. There is very little about it anywhere and I still have not seen another, but it's super nice and I plan to bring it with me when I travel to Italy this spring. Did you get it too? Are we twins on this exclusive bag? :smile1:
