Rolex, Jeager or Cartier?

Jaeger then Cartier gets my vote. I love the history and quality of workmanship behind the JLC. Very classy. And I really like that Cartier model. Pass on the Rolex.

I vote for the JLC. Not to offend anyone, but I think the quality inside and out is better than what you will get on the Rolex and Cartier. Rolex and Cartier both make great watches, but the finishing and the movement on JLC is a step above IMO. I also like the fact that it is, as someone put it on this thread, "under the radar." Most people don't know what JLC is and I think that makes it all the more special. I have a Reverso and I wear more than any other watch in my collection. I like the fact that it has two faces and can be worn on different occasions.

I have a s/s Jaeger Duetto Duo very similar to the one you show, and I absolutely adore it. One thing I will say though, it's by far the heaviest watch I own.

Something else to take into consideration: the look of round watches is very different from the look of rectangular ones; personally I don't wear round ones.

Thanks tortoiseperson! Mine is also the Duetto Duo Reverso. I agree with you, its not the weight --its slightly thicker than the other watches. But I love it so much it doesn't matter.

To me Jaegers are more of a watch for watch enthusiasts. It was given to me by a man who is a total watch nut (we chose it together). Rolex to me is somewhat the LV of watches. Many people love them and consider them iconic but I prefer something a little more, as you say, "under the radar". That's not to say I don't love my Cartiers but the ones I have are more classic than fashion-led designs.

I love that the day face of my Reverso is based on the original 1930s design (the watch came with a little book explaining its history). This one has a single movement (tells the same time on both faces) I'd imagine that those with two movements for different time zones might be a little heavier still.

tortoiseperson you're spot on! I'm surprised with the almost landslide support for the Rolex here, goes to show how successfully they are with their marketing. :)

To the OP, it really depend on what you want. JLC have a much longer history and is a much more prestigious watch manufacture than Rolex and Cartier. Rolex and Cartier are like the Gucci of watches - luxury for the masses, almost everybody wants and have one. JLC, while not equivalent to Hermes (that's more like Patek Philippe), is more like the Chanel of watches. The downside is that JLC is not as recognisable as the other 2.

Wow wow wow, I am surprised to see so many replies after I left this thread 2 months ago. Sorry for keeping silent for awhile :D

It was indeed very difficult for me to choose. So? which one? JLC won my heart more  I got the same model as Saligator's.

Before that, I've narrowed down my choice to JLC and Rolex. While I like Cartier Baloon Bleu but imo it is not as classic as the former 2 watches. I didn't give myself a chance to try on Rolex because at the point of time, I was too excited to buy a new watch. I didn't want to wait till another month to go to the city to try on the Rolex. While I haven't really given my hubby a "go" answer on the JLC, he surprised me by bringing it back home for me :yahoo:

Like Saligator, totoiseperson and hellokatiegirl, I agree with what you said and I am absolutely lovin my JLC. I bought a white alligator leather strap to interchange with the S/S bracelet. :graucho:

Check out the pics of my JLC.

BUT, that's not all..... 2 months later... (to be continued)..
