Rolex Datejust poll: Roman Numerals vs Diamonds

I wanted to add that you should check out the older watches with diamonds vs. older watches with romans. I'm not sure why, but the diamonds must get dusty and thus appear duller over time. I always hate the diamonds on a much-loved watch but they do look great in the beginning. You could get it cleaned annually, but at several hundred bucks a pop for servicing/cleaning, I'd prefer the romans to keep it looking fresh.

Interesting I haven't thought about that!

Thank you all for contributing. Looks like diamonds are winning, though there are still plenty of Roman lovers!

Personally, I'm about 55% Roman 45% Diamond split, and the reason is that I always wanted a classic Rolex, and it doesn't get more classic that Datejust with RN.... But that diamond dial is just so damn pretty too... [emoji5]️

Has anyone seen the stainless steel dial and RN but with diamonds on VI? I know I only want stainless steel and not chocolate...

Haha, I was just thinking of that as alternative. But I haven't seen this dial in stainless steel with rose gold numbers?

The one I saw came in rose gold/stainless steel with white mother of pearl dial. Really gorgeous! You should make enquiries at your local AD. Rolexes come in many combinations and the dial that you want may well likely be available.

I was also torn between the Roman numerals and the diamond dial. I got a 31mm ss with MOP dial and a diamond VI. I think it was a good compromise, but I think it may only come in the 31 size.

Hi All,

I have finally decided to invest in a good watch and narrowed it down to Datejust 36mm in two-tone rose gold.
But I can't seem to settle on Roman numerals vs Diamonds!

I love both, so the dilemma is do I go for "dressy" diamond option or "everyday" Roman?

The difference in price is not significant, so that's not the issue. It's more so that I will be wearing this watch for next 50 years, so it better be perfect [emoji23]

Oh, and I'm 30 yrs old, and wear both cheap costume jewelry and expensive diamonds. Often together...

If anyone has modeling pictures, I will love you forever!
I tried them on, but it's hard to be subjective...

I have a similar dilemma, mine is champagne with diamond or Roman with MOP face!!

I prefer the diamond markers by far. Not so much on the bezel.
The diamond markers make the watch more elegant where the RN appear more sporty.
Mine has a black face with diamond markers and I absolutely love it.
