DH and I headed to NYC today from the hinterlands where we normally reside, and checked out some Rodeos at Saks 5th Ave.

The men's floor had the men's black Rodeos, and they are gorgeous. Beautiful supple leather. Here is my 6'3" hubby with the XL. It has the thin strap on top and is a lot of bag.



Here is the SA showing us the Large which has the detachable canvas strap. This is his favorite way of carrying a heavy bag on the subway.



He says Balenciaga will be releasing a whole variety of colored straps this summer to allow customers to personalize their bags.

Thanks for the intel. The men’s bag is a nice size IMO.

Though I must LOL because it’s been a year since they introduced the Rodeo line and it was promoted from the beginning to be personalized. A pre-holiday service to stamp the clochette didn’t materialize. I managed to get a “qwerty” charm but that seems to not have been produced at scale.

I’m not holding my breath for the straps (but I do love my Rodeo M).

Dang I purchased the large rodeo back in December but I wish I could get the men’s version just for that thicker strap and lower price!

I use my rodeo as a work bag and stuff my laptop in there and the thin strap is definitely not the greatest for that haha. I also wish the flaps stayed down and didn’t come creased up I prefer the look so much more that way if they stayed down!

It might be coming in men's. I was asking the SA today, and he agrees the vegetable tanning is so beautiful where the natural leather shows it's individual imperfections. This is your saddle leather. It's going to be popular, I predict. The black leather is thick and beautiful but has a very homogeneous surface.

The higher price of the large vs men's is not for the top handle but for women.

Absolutely true. The SAs at Saks today agreed the men's pricing runs less than the women's.

I love the Rodeo bag, but the leather in store feels a bit stiff and not slouchy like in many of the images. Would love to hear peoples experiences over time with the bag. I'm probably leaning towards medium, the large may be just too big. It's a big investment so I want to use it forever and know that I love it!

I haven’t used mine that much (probably like 2 dozen times in the last year) but I would say it’s nicely slouchy. It’s the medium size. I think the smaller sizes feel stiffer because there is less softer leather surface area compared to the stiffer seams.

I agree with Bagnut. The slouch is pretty good on the medium and Large. I have a mini that doesn’t really slouch but I’m not sure I’d want it to. I don’t think tiny bags are intended to slouch. Don’t know about the small, but they’re still a good size and probably would slouch.

I have a small rodeo and it is also beautifully slouchy. The small isn’t really what I consider a true small bag though 😊. I have used it maybe 10 times since I purchased and noticed it has gotten softer, which I hoped for.
Like Deco said about her mini rodeo, mine isn’t really slouchy in that size either. But I’m also not sure the mini would really look good “slouchy”.
I’m sure the medium will be beautiful once the leather is broken in ❤️

I have the large Rodeo and it wasn't as soft as the images when I first got it. It was hard to get it to hold the drop at the front. But with a few uses, the leather softened and now it is beautifully soft. I have used the bag a lot more than most of my other bags.

Hi, I am also wondering about the softness of the leather on the Rodeo medium. I just received my second one, and the leather is stiff and dull, not lustrous and buttery looking like photos. I also ordered one in small, and the leather is exactly what I imagined- soft, buttery, slouchy and with a lustrous sheen. Anyone else have experiences with the leather quality in medium Rodeo ? I wonder if Balenciaga changed the leather from the earlier editions.

The black is the Rodeo medium with stiff leather. The tan is the Rodeo small with buttery slouchy soft leather.
