So interesting, I felt like it was smooshy- this all became a thing for me because I saw someone on IG with this bag tucked under her arm and I thought it was a big clutch but it was this bag....something about black croc, gold....and the slouch!! YAY you.

It is a tough call! Both are gorgeous. I have the green one on pre order but it may not arrive until spring of next year. We will see if I like that one but the embossed is a keeper for me. While it is too new to tell, I feel like it will be less prone to scratches than the smooth leather one.
agree- so is the large much bigger? I should have tried it on- didn't even think about it. Did you get from boutique? That is my other slight dilemma to get from boutique or Nordies. I was getting ready to buy another BV Andiamo in brown smooth until I saw this....very versatile compared to Andiamo (I have a small one and was going to get the medium in brown).

Yea, the large is much bigger. Medium looks great crossbody, large to me does not. I feel like someone has to be quite tall to pull off wearing the large size crossbody.
When I wore the large size with the attached shoulder strap, it felt really heavy and uncomfortable. Not sure if it is heavier because croc is slightly heavier and/or if it is just due to the size. Plus, at least in the croc, the bag was also wider, so the bag sat farther from the body which also made it awkward to shoulder carry.

Interesting. This is the second time I've heard the croc embossed leather is softer than the regular leather. I believe @averagejoe mentioned this about the Neo Classic Cities.
I'm a color nut, and deep reds and plums are my favorite. But you can't go wrong.

Congrats! The croc one looked great in your modeling pic! You must have grabbed one of the last (or the last) croc medium on the BG site. The croc-embossed Neo Classic bag I have definitely has soft croc, but it seems like it is also because the leather is quite thin. Maybe that's how they managed to keep it on the softer side. The description from Balenciaga indicated it was "extra supple crocodile embossed calfskin".
The leather on my Rodeo is nicer to the touch (actually feels like soft but delicate leather) than on my croc-embossed Neo Classic (feels a bit more plasticky but durable).
