As a fellow Brit I have to say how surprised I've been by how much I've cried since the passing of our Queen.
today I wept buckets when they removed her Orb Sceptre and Crown from her Coffin.
The end of an Era.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
God save the King.
it must have been so hard for him getting through today.
The only thing that helped me today (I am a Yank) is the thought that the Coronation will be coming next year, and it will be over the top (hopefully).

The pageantry of this funeral had me in tears the whole time, and the attendance of the Citizens and the respect shown--such an incredible way to say Thank You to Her.

That’s the moment I completely lost it :crybaby:
For me it was the moment her crown orb and sceptre were removed from her it felt like stripping her of her title after 70 years I couldn’t bear it - I so loved watching her coronation when she left the orb behind in the golden state coach and had to scamper out for it with a huge smile on her face - rest in peace your majesty we will never see your like again you will never be bettered

Why is this funeral being described as the last great funeral?
The media kept saying that today.
Won't future monarch's follow the same patterns and protocols of mourning and funerals and burial??
Yes, but even if Charles lives another twenty years and is well-liked, you will not see the turnout that we have seen over the past week and today. I'm American, but it truly is the passing of an era. She was "the Queen" for all of my life. I've seen comments online about officially naming her Elizabeth the Great. It has to be difficult for Charles knowing what a tough act he has to follow.

Virtually all the world's leaders dropped what they were doing in order to come to her funeral. The only other leaders that have that sort of reach around the globe are the Popes, and none of them ruled for 70 years. I doubt that the next Monarch will be as beloved worldwide.

It will be the last state funeral on this scale we see in our generation. Nobody else is likely to reign for 70+ years as she has, and therefore there will never be a shared grief like the one we've seen as the entire world united to pay their respects.

Edit: sorry, just saw that others already replied.

She was our Queen but also our mother grandmother family and we will love her forever I have no love for Charles

Even a Metro station in Paris has been re-named "Elizabeth II" for today:

A metro station in Paris has been temporarily renamed to Elizabeth II on the day of the late monarch’s funeral.

The metro station alongside the Champs Elysees avenue in the French capital was changed from George V to the former monarch's name on Monday as her state funeral took place in Westminster Abbey.
