For those that own the aluminum versions, do you ever find it to be too heavy for a carry-on? I have the salsa deluxe which is much lighter but the look and feel of the topas is so amazing!

my boyfriend and I travel with two different Rimowa alum versions as a carry on. They are awesome for a 7 day trip. I do not think my classic flight is heavy at all.

He has the rimowa topas carry on (the larger domestic sized one - NOT IATA which means it is not International travel approved but they let us on with it anyways) and I have the classic flight carry on.

My classic flight carry on is made of much thinner alum and is smaller, I think I fit almost 40% less in volume inside than his does. But mine is much lighter but makes a ton of noise when I walk with it on a hard surface. His topas is better constructed and makes less noise but can be quite heavy compared to a salsa carry on with the extra aluminum and things packed inside.

Below is all our luggage we took on our first 3 month stay in Japan/and visiting the rest of Asia last Spring. Ugh, the Rimowas treated us well and kept our things safe but it was such a huge pain lugging all 4 of them with duffle bags city to city. When we went back in the Fall for another 3 months, we only took the sport trunks and split one duffle bag.

I feel like the brand deserves its own space on TPF somewhere (maybe contemporary?) because this travel forum is really about traveling "the hobby / practice," and not so much about travel brands.

I would love to see Rimowa in Action... What is your latest Rimowa Purchase, maybe even an AT Rimowa!!

And those people who have caught the Rimowa bug KNOW it is an addiction. And, they are bags, too!

Yes they are an addiction! l covet my Rimowa's as much as my Chanel's. I collect vintage and new ones :] I love that unlike with handbags for the most part, I can share this interest with my boyfriend.

Every time I see someone with a rimowa at that airport, I feel like we have this instant connection. And sometimes there is an exchange through a slight nod of approval from afar that means " Hey, I like your taste, have a safe flight and have fun creating a new story with that luggage"

Fabulous photos!! Gorgeous pieces!!

I agree, I adore the look of rimowa luggage and now can't help but notice when other people carry rimowa luggage too lol. I do baby my rimowa carry on and always cringe when I accidentally scratch it. [emoji13]

My husband and I each have the IATA carry ons and the 26" salsa deluxe luggage, and we love all the pieces. We've only used them a few times so far...The only thing is that I'm still trying to get used to using hard case clamshell luggage as opposed to my old samsonite fabric luggage which seemed easier to pack things in.

Does anyone have any thoughts about how rimowa compares to tumi luggage?

I looooove my Rimowas! I have a carry on from the Salsa Air Line, a normal Salsa (72cm) which I share with my BF, since it's really big and now I think about buying a topas in the size 68cm!

My boyfriend has 2 Rimowas! The tops sport and salsa air line as he travels a lot due to his work! He travels really a lot! But He never complains about her Rimowas! Must be good then [emoji16]And I heard it is sold out everywhere!

I have the Topas carry-on and I love it. Most of the time it's on the ground anyways so the weight isn't an issue at all. When I do need to lift it, it is of course, heavier than the Salsa/Air/Deluxe lines, but that's only for a very short period of time.

I have a 22" Salsa deluxe and its amazing

Carry on or checked luggage? Do you fly Eco or Business Class? And how long are usually your trips?

thanks for the responses. I'll probably be flying economy and for a 2/3 day trips so definitely want to stick to carry on also. I don't know if I'd feel comfortable putting a rimowa through baggage. lol
