I recently purchased the Givenchy Wing tote and wanted to share my thoughts since it appears to be a new style that is still under the radar. I ordered it in gray from Neiman Marcus (gray is exclusive to NM and BG; it’s also available in black at other retailers). The bag is all leather, and is comparable a Neverfull GM (it’s a large, open tote that is slightly smaller than the NF GM). It comes with a detachable zippered pouch.
Pros:
•Very sturdy, well-made, and stands up on its own even when empty (it’s not flimsy like the YSL leather shopper, but it’s not as stiff as the Mansur Gavriel tote).
•Attractive exterior design with triangular, architectural motif that adds some visual interest and elevates it above a typical leather tote.
•Fun graphic logo interior that adds a bit of a punch without detracting from the sleek exterior.
•Interior pouch, despite being relatively small, manages to fit a large smartphone (e.g., iphone 7/8 plus), keys, and a slim card case.
•Fits a ton of stuff! It easily fits a 15” laptop, a large (very stuffed) purse organizer, and my lunch (with room to spare). The straps are wider and feel sturdier than the straps on the Neverfull, so carrying a laptop is definitely doable with this bag!
Cons:
•I wish the shoulder straps were just a tad longer. I can definitely carry the bag over my shoulder, but it’s a little snug when I’m wearing a thick winter coat. It’s not a deal-breaker for me, but I figured it’s worth mentioning as it might be an issue for others who prefer longer straps.
•The long strap that attaches the pouch to the bag is permanently affixed to the inner lining of the bag (rather than to the pouch), so the pouch doesn’t have a wrist strap of its own when you detach it from the bag. I wish Givenchy had made the strap like the pouch for the Neverfull (detachable from the tote and useable as a wrist strap).
Overall, I am very pleased with this bag! It’s beautiful in person—the construction and finish are superior to other similarly-priced premier designer totes that I looked at when shopping around for a new bag.
