Resellers getting Chanel items first and selling for premium

Sorry but I wholeheartedly do not believe you read the initial post nor understand how economics works.
OP doesn't want "the market to meet her budget", she is simply looking for a seller to match her price range, and this is, in its most basic form, how "economics" works. Buyers and sellers come together to exchange at prices which they both agree on. Sure her price range might be lower than the market average, or what the majority of sellers are requesting, but that literally doesn't matter because her post didn't ask, nor was it directed towards people who are selling their bags for a premium.

Ps. your "but I certainly wasn't on a forum asking people to sell me their bags for less, especially a group of consumers who know market price" sounds like you're shaming OP for simply trying to find a seller in her price range.

You missed the part where I said it's not hard to find a price within a budget meaning below retail. It just takes patience and flexibility. But in those groups in particular I don't think it's going to happen from those type of women who know the value of their items. It will more so happen with a casual Chanel owner.

I read frustration in that facebook poster's question, but I think the responses to basically "stay in your lane" are unwarranted.

I've certainly sold my bags for what I paid for them locally to an interested buyer. I am not dealing with the internet crazy just to get a bag sold; I'll just keep it. She's free to think that reseller prices for older bags are ridiculous. That doesn't make her poor and sending her to Fendi because the resale is low is just tacky.

If anyone wonders why the replica market is hot, it's gatekeeping behavior like this.

Chanel is gatekeeping with their prices

I mean someone on Insta is selling a M/L Black Caviar GHW 17 Series for 7500.00. Granted from what I can see the condition looks great, but still 17 Series is like what 2013? How many price increases since? I get the bag has a higher resale value now but don't act like putting it down by a couple of hundred bucks below retail when you paid probably 3,000.00 less for it is a deal..lol.

I saw the Japanese sellers doing the same especially with new old stock. They have really caused the preloved market to jump the shark.
People pay that much for select series bc of threads and opinions about the "best season" caviars, the best reds, the best pinks etc etc
I think it's nuts but hey--I just don't pay for it. Others will

This is how inflation works. $7500 isn't doing buyers much of a favor by any means but at the same time you'll be hard pressed to find a classic (non-seasonal) bag for even just a few hundred over the original purchase price. Look at how all the "vintage" 20-30 yr old bags are priced. I wish I bit the bullet and paid $1500 for a bag back then. The slap in the face is when FP (and possibly other resellers) offer a purchase price to the original seller of way below original price yet they jack up their list price by double or triple.

This is all insane! The prices are out of control. I have been reading this thread for a few weeks and wow!

A few things, I know FP charges a lot and may offer a lower payout, but they have to pay for store fronts, a website and employees. I can understand them charging more as they have much much more overhead than a rando facebook reseller.

There is no need to shame anyone looking for a deal. I have sold new Chanel items under retail on FB groups. Not everyone is a pro seller on there, but I admit I have not really been active there lately. A quick look shows me that it does seems to be full of sellers much more than before. It used to be us Chanel lovers wanting to chat about new releases and sell things quick! I also see bags and slg's sitting for months if it is an older bag and priced high.

I am currently looking for a bag I sold years ago. I sold it for 1600 and I can not find it under 4k in terrible condition. it was a seasonal bag. I do not want it that badly. There is always something new I have in mind. Hello VCA!

No one needs bags, this is fluff in our lives. Supply and demand. Right now demand is more than supply, but that can change at any time. This is enjoyable and fun . I understand the passion we have for bags, but everyone should treat others with respect, including this thread. This is not bread and milk being rationed and sold for more. If you wanna to pay and can afford it, why not? I also understand it is those that pay the insane prices that keep them going up. Thank god it is only shallow ****!

I wouldn’t call them pro-sellers, just greedy scum that prey on insecurities and desperation of some people.

You made a good point about FP, and sometimes I go on there planning on buying certain limited edition speedies. But when I calculate how much the seller will make after paying the company 30% of the money made from the same, and I see that the seller will make as much if not more than what they seemingly paid for the bag originally … I can do without it.

And most of the time those bags are dirty… why would I pay that much when they didn’t even bother cleaning the bag?

one reseller on here tried to convince me that if I could spend $5K on a bag, what’s another extra $2K in the resellers pocket? And this lets me know that they’re not selling to people with money to burn.

When we go with the understanding that: it’s just a bag, I won’t justify paying over retail for it just because it’s “hard to find”, I’ll find another bag better suited for my budget that looks great.

These resellers will disappear.

Horrific! Where is she located? This looks like she got it all straight from the boutique.

I’m not sure to be honest but I believe somewhere in Europe. If you look at her past sales in her highlights… some of them are in Russian though. So who knows lol.

But how is she buying all of these things? Some Chanel boutiques don't have all of this stock

I would assume that she has people working for her that go to the boutiques to source the items? Or she has connections with a lot of SAs and has the items shipped to her. I’m pretty sure she’s a VIP because I think she said it at some point. I’m not completely sure to be honest.
