When I was looking for bags 2 months ago, I told my SA how furious people were that we couldn’t get any bags but if I went to IG at that very moment, the resellers would have the bags on their pages. She said, “don’t worry. Chanel is already doing something about it. It’s not going unseen.” And I do hope they do some freaking thing about it. Annoying

Wouldn’t it be funny if some of the people complaining about resellers getting first dibs on unicorn bags are amateur resellers who are just starting their “reseller journey” and don’t have the same connections that these pros have?
I don’t think Chanel’s new strategy will be enough to curb resellers, but hey, they gotta start somewhere.
I truly believe there are SAs that are practicing reselling for a profit themselves.
Ive said this many times before, the only way to get rid of this practice is when us as the buyers will practice some self-respect and not be willing to pay above retail for a BAG … it’s just a bag. If we don’t get it this time, we’ll get another pretty one in the future. Fashion is constantly changing.

Absolutely agree! Retail is already very expensive and this is supposed to be luxury treat! I felt ok with reasonable finder fees for rare items, but resellers blatantly buying up everything and flipping for big profit is unethical.
Someone asked on an fb group if anyone would be willing to sell an older classic flap for the price they paid for it + shipping and fees instead of a $1-2k markup to match the current price. The comments under it are all very rude. They called the op “tacky” and told her to buy a bag from another brand that would fit her budget.

I was actually just scrolling through the comments on that particular post and honestly people are so vicious and disgusting. There are comments under her post with 50+ likes, essentially calling her disrespectful, cheap, and making fun of her etc. I really wish Chanel actually did something about resellers because the nerve and entitlement they have is ridiculous.
*lots of people also compared the rising price of Chanel bags, to rising house prices lol. I'm so sick of resellers trying to justify their exorbitant prices by any means necessary.

I don’t understand why people need to be so belligerent!!!! That in fact, speaks volumes of their inner lives and lack of professionalism. All the girl can do is ask. She has that right. People can be quiet and ignore her requests if they are unrealistic. I think the message will actually be more powerful if people just let it sit. Now, they start “screaming” and attacking the girl …. Why does that offend them so much??? What are you so offended that someone is asking for a bag at cost? If you have your clients and you are secure in your space, move on ….. strange to say the least. These people need some serious therapy

Someone could say "it's just a bag" about anything anyone buys on this forum. at some point if you can afford to pay 5k for a bag another 1k may not kill you so I think it's very weird to say that people who buy from resellers have no self-respect. That is a bridge too far.
It's not impossible to find but it's silly to ask someone to do that just so that YOU the consumer is happy.
However I would not pay that much for an old flap.
I don’t know….. I still believe the girl has the right to ask. Let’s be logical about it: she can ask anything she wants. Will she get it? We don’t know. My problem is the personal attacks and how offended these re-sellers got with the thought of someone threatening their existence by daring to ask such a question. Their existence is also is poison to retail. They found a way to insert themselves in the middle of the good exchange between the brand and the customer and they screw up with whole thing. But I can’t blame them alone. If they exist it’s because they became part of the “food chain”. Some are feeding them what they need. Otherwise, their existence would be unnecessary

I have Chanels, LV bags, Dior bags and sometimes I think about how it’s ridiculous I paid that much money for them but they make me happy … but I’ll never justify paying $1K above retail just because it’s “hard to find” …
