Resellers getting Chanel items first and selling for premium

I came across this consignment/reseller website (www.ayainlove.com) and the prices are almost double retail..like this Coco Handle from 21P selling for over $7K! They have lots of bags marked as "sold" so there must be people buying this..I'm new to Chanel and started purchasing bags last year but can't believe how hard is to get a bag from a recent collection.

Yes she is from Australia, she is selling everything over retail (also note that Australia Chanel retail is the highest in the world at the moment! US and other countries are atleast 10-12% less compared)

I don’t think this person is telling the truth that all current season hard to find bags are from their clients to consign with them. I happened to inquire about a hard to find bag with her a few seasons ago, and she specifically said that she had bought TEN of the same bag, and she had bought them to resell! I have screenshot to prove.
Bingo! She is caught red handed!

The other reseller’s audacity to make up stories of how she obtained those bags here last night is beyond me, lol.

Hope more greedy resellers get to be exposed!

This is interesting, thanks for sharing.
Would you mind explaining what is "Camellia level client" and how can one become that? Is there a minimum amount you need to spend every year to reach that level and does it have to be at the same store?
I’m not sure what the criteria is now or if they still even are adding new camellia level clients. But when I originally gained that status, it was because I had a history of buying across the brand at a certain annual spend. Meaning you have to buy not just accessories & bags. There had to be a significant spend on RTW & high jewelry.

It says "we" - perhaps this person sells them on behalf of other people who then consign it with her? Just a possibility, I have no idea, but it makes better sense than one person purchasing 4 bags in the same color. Like someone else in the thread also said, it could be totally fake, like maybe some resellers just have 1 but say they have more to create a price war/frenzy over it and make them look like they have access to hot colors and items. Unless they can post all 4 together
They all say “we” to make it sound like they have an actual company with employees. When in actuality, it’s just them.

I would like to drop some names of sales associates who I KNOW contribute to this problem. It isnt hard to tell which SAs are behind the fire that fuels the reselling business. The pictures are identical. Theirs a handful of SAs, esp department store ones who unfairly sell the htf bags to these resellers.... its obvious.
I’d love to know who! DM me!

I saw this thread and it piqued my curiosity. x IG deleted my account suddenly last week for unknown reasons but I have worked hard for seven years to build my business. I got my start here on TPF actually as I used to help out in the Authenticate This Chanel Thread. I am a legitimate Personal Shopper.

There are some misunderstandings in the world of Personal Shopping VS Resellers and you need to know the difference:

1. Authentic Personal shoppers will charge you a fee such as Retail plus PS fee, instead of one huge markup resellers charge. As a buyer you should understand the retail plus the additional fees. Is the item coming from the Boutique or from inventory, there is a difference. And is it coming from the person you are talking to, or another party? There are limits on what can be purchased legally from Chanel. Currently, you are able to purchase two bags a month.
2. Is there transparency? Do you have the receipt, and do you know the purchaser name? There are people who need to purchase items in other names and the 'fee' you pay might be high because as a reseller they are paying someone else to buy it because they are banned due to abuse of the system or other. Not getting the receipt with a new purchase is a huge red flag.
3. Are you paying tax? It might seem awesome to avoid paying tax but do you realize that is not really legal? If your PS/reseller is having the item sent to a tax free state and shipping to you, you are supposed to pay tax on it. From what my clients tell me, these PS who are not paying tax are charging as if they did.... If no one paid tax, where would that leave us? If that PS is found to be committing fraud, what if you are discovered in the process? One of my clients did not realize she bought without tax from another PS but paid as if she had paid full tax: the PS fee was quite astronomical. When she needed to exchange it due to a flaw, she ended up paying tax again and that cost her a fortune. The original PS told her the $1500 supposed tax was part of 'the fee'. And then she paid another $1500 to get her bag 'exchanged'. I find that appalling.
4. Is the price too good to be true? If your shopper/reseller quotes you retail as the total, don't you wonder how they are making their profit? You really should, as Chanel does not discount items and no one works for free. If you get a receipt with a employee discount rung on it you know its wrong and you need to speak up. Yes, one of the PS mentioned on this forum often has done this and been banned at the stores yet she continues on.... I know there are shoppers now who have 'connections'. Those connections might save you money but I assure you, there are no legal discounts with Chanel or the other brands. I get offered things all the time 'below retail' My response is "no thanks".
5. You are mad because it seems some resellers have access to alot of inventory? I understand that completely. I know for myself, I do not make a habit of hoarding and selling at very high prices. Occasionally, I have a client who buys and sees what others are charging and rightfully so thats what she wants to ask when she decides to sell. Or I might have one piece that I sell, but My business model is to locate per client request and charge a fair price . We are not all equal. There are PS and resellers out there who break the rules. As long as people buy from them, they will be successful. I consider myself a professional and I'm here to help, not take advantage. There is a difference. Yes, some resellers insist on the model to source low and sell at very high prices. Items can be sourced from all over the world, but how do you truly know an item was ethically sourced, and what does that mean to you? To myself it means it was legitimally sourced and I feel good about how I got it. For now, I source all my own items from US, and I know the origin.

As a legitimate Personal Shopper I can't begin to tell you how frustrating it is to know these things are happening. If you want to report people at least be sure of what their practices are and understand their business models before you report the wrong individuals. It is not a easy job, and sourcing Chanel items has gotten to be quite challenging when trying to follow the rules.
I just want to say something about Gail. Not only is she one of the very very few legitimate, ethical personal shoppers, her business model is significantly different than the others out there.
I’m not promoting her business because I don’t need to but I just want to echo that not all personal shoppers are created equal and not all are “resellers”.
There have been a lot of IG pages suspended lately but it seems that the worst offenders are still doing business as usual.

Is there a separate post where you name names? I can’t find it.

You aren’t getting our point. Whether u buy the bag or not is nothing of concern. We want whoever is buying the bag ONLY to flip it reported. So we are buying bags and reporting the serial number so they get banned and will report your page as well so that there is less opportunity

It’s a little different with H to me Bc the price u pay for a reseller is about how much you would’ve had to spend anyway to build a buyer profile for the bag. Plus you are choosing your color, hardware etc. Chanel doesn’t require all that so to me it’s a little different

If it’s a brand new bag in season it’s reselling just like a ticket scalper. It’s against Chanel’s terms of service and both u and your supplier need to be banned
But at least if you buy things at hermes to get the opportunity to buy a bag, you own those things. You pay a reseller the same as you would have spent buying additional items, but you don’t have the additional items.

Do you think the SA knows their pictures are being shared. Maybe we should let the SA know it’s being shared?

I would like to share my support here for Gail (IG: looking_for_luxe) as well. She is not like the morally questionable resellers and personal shoppers that are being discussed here. She is very ethical, only sources per client request, and charges a flat fee. She does not upsell items at insane premiums or hoard HTF pieces in order to turn a profit. Gail does not take advantage of anyone, and she is incredibly honest and transparent. Every item that she sources for you goes on your own purchase history. There was even one bag I was looking for, but she told me that it was not constructed well and found another one for me. I highly, highly recommend her and cannot say enough good things about her.

I personally have chronic health issues, and due to the pandemic and being high risk for COVID (and a bad outcome from COVID) I have only been to my local Chanel boutique once in all of 2020 and 2021. I have actually only left my house around a dozen times since the pandemic started. Even if I was not high risk, I would still have difficulty with making and keeping a scheduled appointment because my health issues flare up and I am unable to predict when I will feel good enough to go out.

I have never really connected personally with any particular SA, despite having made purchases with several, and I have never found any SAs that are very responsive or will look very hard to locate the items I am looking for.

I have also had bad experiences with other personal shoppers and resellers and I have experienced things like the PS sending the item to a sales-tax free state and yet still pocketing the sales tax, or refusing to allow a return/exchange if the item I purchased had a problem.

Without Gail, I would not have been able to purchase any of the pieces that I have since the pandemic started, and honestly Chanel is one of the few things that brings me joy nowadays.

LOLOLOLOL you kill me. BRING IT! You have no ground, no basis and have no idea who I even am do you?? What an incredibly ridiculous thing to come post on here, actually believing you have some merit? Or ground? That only underscored everything everyone says about you, not the opposite.
How could you @XXLAM88 (from TimelessLikeAudrey) post something like this threatening legal action,

this is a forum and people are allowed to voice their opinion,

It is against you Chanel should take legal action.
