How about using leather filler to fill in the gaps and then topping with black edgecoat? I did that to corners on a bag last year and it came out great. I sold the bag, or I would provide pics. When the leather filler was dry I used an emery board to sand into shape. Then I topped with edgecoat.
What kind of filler did you use?

It was a small tube under $10. I didn't want a big jar. I just looked on Ebay and nothing rings a bell. I don't think it was a brand name, but it worked great. 5 or 6 little samples of paint came with it too. It dried up so I threw them out. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.
It’s just called edge filler? I’ll check it out, thanks.

Because I have repaired many 'edges', I can tell you what I use: Vernis Edge Paint from Rocky Mountain Leather; it's a French product and it works extremely well. I repaired the handle 'cracks' on a BV Cabat with no-one the wiser. :) I get the 2 oz bottle.

You'll also need a tool to apply it - I purchased this from Tandy Leather:

Altogether, it's like magic, swear-to-god.

Pretty sure I have the Vernis in black, I'll need to get the little paddle though, thanks!

Hello ladies!
I just recently took my taupe Balenciaga out this past weekend to use and noticed that the leather is now very dry. I believe I bought this bag back in 2011-2012? Does anyone know how I can re-moisture this bag? I've read that some products can actually darken the color and I'm worried it about ruining this cold which I love so much.
Any advice is much appreciated!

Leather Honey is great and your bag looks very dry. It will darken the leather. You can always try it on tag in side to see how it works. Apple leather conditioner is a good option and won't darken the leather dramatically.

I'm new to Bal so my experience is more general. I've used Apple Care cleaner and conditioner on my bags and my wallet. It won't do any harm and won't change the color or darken it. But what I've found is sometimes it will freshen up the leather but the effect is temporary. Can't hurt if you want to be conservative and make sure you don't darken your bag.

It may depend on which season your bag is. Bal added a protective coating on the bags in 2012 and I’m not sure you can condition through it all that well. I like Leather CPR because it softens as it conditions. Apple Care shouldn’t affect the colour whereas Leather Honey may.

I use Leather Honey for my dry Bals. Initially they darken a bit but once it soaks in they return to their natural color. And I have the same color.

Thank you ladies for all your suggestions! Really appreciate the help.

I found my receipt and I got this bag in February of 2012. I think I will try the Apple Care first and see how that works and then Leather CPR or Leather Honey.

Fingers crossed!
