Hello, everybody:smile1:
I post here for the first time. Does anyone know the name of this scarf?
It's a gavroche size, in silk.
If I could get the name, it would be a great great pleasure for me.
Many thanks in advance!

This scarf is "Cavale Joyeuse" by Ljubomir Milinkov, 1998. Interesting color way!

It would seem from my experience that any box is a "good" box, even if it shows signs of wear. I think they probably don't want to hand out new boxes in exchange because that would be almost impossible to handle. I DO imagine that if you are a regular customer at a store they would do that for you...

COLORWAYS

It has been asked by many if there is a thread for color ways; seems to me we need one (there is a very active one for bags). Does anyone have any idea about how to start one?

Thanks, Jahna

Hi all....

I have an Aux Champs carre scarf and I'm trying to figure out if it's an original issue (1970) or a re-issue (1990-1). I've been referred from a tPF moderator to some great websites for research, but have not found my answer on those resources.

How have other people learned if their particular scarf is an original issue or re-issue?

Advice appreciated!

Sallymandy, your best bet is to look for the catalogue showing the re-issues (or maybe someone reading this will either have the book or the scarf.

Sallymandy's original post with links to pictures: on "Authenticate" #6673

Good luck. dating is very hard.

Here is that scarf on HSCI: http://piwigo.hermesscarf.com/index.php?/search/6407

and another place: http://www.luxury-scarves.com/en/10_database/colorway.php?ID=180

but neither is your color way. Maybe someone else can help. Anyway, bookmark those resources too!

Thank you, Jahna! One of your links does have my colorway. So, let me ask you a general question. Are there usually differences between the original issues and the re-issues? Let's say mine is a re-issue. Will I see noticeable differences between it and a photo of the original? Because mine looks like the photos of the originals that I've seen, but I don't know if that means I can say it's definitely original.

Does that make sense?

Oh! Sorry, I guess I wasn't looking closely (no coffee yet that early).

There are many experts who can answer this question, but a couple of cases in point:
Look at this "Memoire d'Hermes":http://piwigo.hermesscarf.com/picture.php?/1272/search/6420

See the note on the middle right? I think there was a copyright issue with this so it got re-issued with a "picture" (see scarves to right or left). I believe the note is 1992 and the "photo" is the re-issue.

Please someone correct me if I am wrong here.

Another example: L'Ocean vrs L'Aquitane:

http://www.luxury-scarves.com/en/10_database/colorway.php?ID=1227

Same scarf, two names.

There are many many examples of this sort; it is what makes Hermes such an interesting (and expensive!) hobby. No one has all the info, but it is great fun to keep learning.

Short answer to your question, it is hard to tell the original issue from the re-issues except by the seller, serendipity, or it belonged to your Grandma... LOL

Good luck, Jahna

Dear Ladies,

I now own this beautiful scarf named "Profile" (M. Guillemot) issued initially in 1974. My question for you is, has Hermes re-issued this same design since 1974? If so, anyone has picture(s) of the newer version that I may see?

Thank you!
Rose

Hi Rose, I heard this design (also sometimes called Sellerie) was reissued in 1984, but haven't confirmed it. Here are some good sources for research. http://hermesscarf.com/wordpress/designs-by-artistyear/ and http://piwigo.hermesscarf.com/index.php?/search/7828 and http://www.luxury-scarves.com/en/10_database/index.php
