Here's my hybrid Red Carpet experiment... used The Night is Young for the stripes (prepping for tomorrow's night 80's concert - B-52's & Berlin @ the Hollywood Bowl!)

This is over a previous mani that I did w/ Gelish & Reg. Nail polish - (Vegas Nights is the shimmer).

Yes you can use the TIO of Gelish over Red Carpet and also used my LED light. Cured it longer than usual though - due to the dark color (did 90 sec).

I love it. So you did each step for 90 secs? Did you use the Red Carpet light?

That is awesome! Have a great time!

I am heading to Ulta today, so we will see if there is anything I have to have!

Is the base princess tiara and vegas nights?

Thanks!!!!

Its actually regular polish -Sally Hansen hard as nails - Vibrant Violet Frost. Had it in my stash of nail polishes.

Its a "Gelly Sandwich" - where you use the gel base & gel top coat but normal polish in between -you just need to make sure you let the regular nail polish COMPLETELY dry - otherwise it will wrinkle after you cure.

Thanks - I had the purple polish mani on from last week (Taylor Swift's concert!) :D I just did another layer of Vegas Night's - to make it more sparkly, cured for 60 sec - then I added the Red Carpet - silver/black stripes using a toothpick - cured that for 90 sec (I read that darker colors should be cured longer) then I added the Nail Harmony Top Coat - cured for 60 seconds. I do it a little longer cure than what's recommended for LED times - just to make sure its cured!

I used the Better Light LED (got it shipped from China). It was about $100. With a true LED light - it cures quicker. I think the light that Red Carpet sells @ Ulta is more like a UV light and that's why the cure time is 2 or 3 minutes.

My set should arrive Wednesday so I will give it a go! I have never done this so I hope they will have instructions with the light lol

I'm excited for you! I remember when I put my first order in and was waiting! If you have a Sally's near you - I noticed in the Nail Harmony (Gelish) display they had instructional DVDs. You can also find how to do this stuff on YouTube (that's how I learned - plus reading through the bizzillion posts on this site!) LOL! Good luck and know that you'll get better each time you do it.

Thanks!!!!

My first ever swatches so they aren't perfect!

3 coats - 158 Drop Dead Gorgeous (Very pretty blue with a sheer undertone.)

2 coats - 154 And The Winner Is (This has more of a teal tone to it that my pic isn't showing! Gonna have to try different lighting.)

How long do you get out of a Gelly sandwich, if you don't mind sharing? I've got tons of nail polish colors that I miss wearing.
