Thanks so much :smile1: I seem to be just like you :D Yes I did pull off the excess that was under my nails & I see what you're saying. I tried to apply thin layers but it seemed I was DRY BRUSHING at times so I added more.....
So can I FIX these chips? Or should I do a complete mani?

Thanks EVERYONE for all the help!! Please don't get TIRED of me:cool:

One really important thing is to look at your nails from many angles and in good light. In particular, look at them sideways against a light background to see if you have thicker product at the tips and look at them "down the barrel" to see if the product is evenly distributed and make sure you haven't gotten it under the tip. Look at how the light reflects off of them as you move them - you'll see where you have fuzzies or too much/too little product.

Okay... Visual confirmation of 8 of the new colors and they are not all dupes.

Tinsel town = June Bride
Haute couture may be MFL
My Inspiration is almost a dupe of jet set (no shimmer)

Swatches and more match ups when I get home and can look at multiple screens :-)

Thanks so much for your knowledge a lot better than the dots!

This is exactly what I need to remember to do. It takes me a long time to do my mani still and often rush to finish up. I do get a case of the guilts taking too much time out of the day for myself . By skipping the steps you mention I end up disappointed in the final result because I have fuzzies or distribution issues. It is worth taking the extra time to make sure everything is right. I will be doing as you suggested with my next mani

So jealous. My Ulta had NONE of the new colors when I stopped in today. I refused to buy anything else (which I usually end up doing...buying something else I think I "need") on principle!

Alright, will do:smile1:

The trick to using sogs is THIN LAYERS. Way better to do more thin layers than fewer thick ones. Do not apply like regular polish. Don't worry that it looks streaky on the first or even second layer, by the second or third, it will appear nice and rich. Same goes with the top coat. When you cap the edges, there shouldn't be any noticable difference in thickness from the other surfaces. It is just the thinnest amount from what is left over on your brush that touches that edge. If it gets a thick accumulation, or gets drippy, you are using way, way, way too much. Some cap the tips first so that any extra is pulled off as they polish the nail itself. Also, if you pulled off the chunky stuff from under your nails after it was cured, what you did was break the seal allowing water, oils, etc to get underneath, shortening the life of your manicure. I completely understand if that is what you did, as I do the same. If there are any imperfections at all, I pick relentlessly. Can't control myself a bit. So I take my time to reduce the opportunities for temptation by being more careful as to how to apply it.

I cap my edge before I apply the product to the nail. Then before curing, I run an orangewood stick under the nail to remove any excess product that gets under the nail. It is amazing how much product I remove before curing. With this method, I do not end up with product under the nail that can be picked off.

When I first started, I watched some videos where people turned their brush vertically to the end of the nail - like 90 degrees

This is how I do it. Everyone has their way that works for them, this is mine. By the time I've painted the nail, there's very little left on the brush, so I just take a quick swipe with the brush at a 90 degree angle along the tip. my nail then is like, in the middle of the brush. This would really only work if your nails are past your fingertips, otherwise you'd end up painting your finger too, LOL

Ok I think I got it.
So can I REPAIR chips or should I do a complete mani ?

I do if they are pretty small. Or if I only want to get a couple more days out of the mani. As long as i'm not wearing a color that fades anyway, LOL. sometimes I have gotten a lot of wear out of chip repairs, it all depends, and I really haven't figured out what it depends on unfortunately, LOL.

I buff my topcoat, fill in the chip and cure (i dont' bother with basecoat for really small chips. If they are larger ones I will). then i just re-topcoat the whole nail and am done with it. :) The lazy girls way of fixing a manicure, lol.

Okay to the best of my knowledge, this is what I know/think:

Tinsel Town = June Bride (know)
haute Couture = Elegant Wish (know)
My inspiration = Jet Set minus the purple shimmer (know)
I simply love your nails = pink smoothly (think)
Dripping I luxury = night shimmer (think)
What a surprise = reminded me a lot of Geleration Bird of Paradise just a little lighter (sorry I don't pay much attention to purples of any brand, so it may be a dupe of something)
Simply adorable = again I couldn't finger a dupe, but it was like a really opaque cream light pink (not a French color though, think more light Barbie pink)
One of the neutrals was in there too, but I had no idea what it was.

I was really bummed because at first look I thought that there was some originals, but I am really not sure. Obviously will be making a trip to return, hopefully I will have more info then. Funny enough, my store still doesn't have the 4 limited editions yet.....

That's too bad. I was really excited when you said some of them didn't look like dupes! LOL. I'll have to keep an eye out at my ulta's and check them out just to see what they all look like. I love looking at them anyway.

I really hope this is the case, but I am doubtful. I called two of my stores yesterday and they claimed they still didn't have them.

I am heading to Ulta tomorrow to see if mine has the new colors, If they do I will try and swatch and put them up. I dont live far from there headquaters and distrbution center here in IL so I am hoping that they have them in stock.
