I received the RCM gel polish starter kit with the portable led light. I followed the instructions and after wiping off the tacky layer some of the polish came off on the lint free wipe and the very tips of my nails all the polish came off. Do you think I need to stay under the light longer then what the directions says? Or is the portable light crappy? Thanks Guys :)

The portable light doesn't cut the mustard. The drying times are as long as regular UV bulb lamps, and the LEDs aren't rated for too much use. The best lamps are the professional ones, but the Sally Hansen light from their gel color kit (not the gel strip kit) will cure gelish in 30 seconds. The lamp is only rated for about 5000 hours, which is more than sufficient for personal use. The professional lamps such as the Gelish 18g or the OPI Led Light are rated for 50,000 hours continuous use -- way more than you will need as a manicure only takes 2-3 minutes or so per hand.

I'm glad it wasn't me. I was thinking maybe it was because my nails are curvy and that the light wasn't hitting all around. I will use a better light next time. Thanks :smile1:

Has anyone used Base and Top coats from RCM and Gelish? Apparently they are made by the same people so are they the same formula just marketed differently?

I'm having problems with removal with my current system so thought trying a new system might tell me if it's my application or the product but can't decide what I should try.

Yes I've used both they are the same and work well :)

How do you make a swatch with gel polish? I use Red Carpet Manicure and would like to swatch it.

Are you swatching them on the plastic nail tips or display sticks? If so, no base coat needed. Just color and cure, repeat according to number of coats you want, then brilliance, cure, and wipe of the tacky layer with cleanser or alcohol like you do with mani. :-)

Thanks for pointing out no base coat...I have been wasting my precious base coat on my swatch sticks, lol

On Friday I did my first RCM Mani using White Hot. After 3 days I've got major lifting and some chipping. I've never experienced this so fast and so bad with any of my other polishes. Has anyone else had this issue with RCM? I'm hoping this was just a bad bottle. As I've got 8 coming in the mail.

RCM does not work for me at all. I have 3 colors (barely used!) and had big time problems with each one. I tried to do a mani for my sister with one of the colors and it didn't work on her nails either.

I know that many people have great success with the brand so I'm chalking it up to bad "chemistry" between me and RCM. :smile1: I'm going to try and get in on the next exchange round but if I can't I already offered to donate the polishes to the box. I hate to see them go to waste!

I should be receiving my order this week so I'll have to test a few before I decide their faith. I'll be joining the next exchange too. So if its a problem ill trade or put them in as freebies too.
