DaisyShadow,
Love your malacca beauty with your batik cheongsam. And your gals bangle is gorgeous too. Matches her kebaya so beautifully. For your grandma (in-law), it's so nice of you to get her a Jade bangle. I know we r all wary of color polish bangles from UJ especially after the scare I had. Did you manage to talk to her about it? She knows that I'm 'active' in this thread cos she asked how I came to know about her and I said some ladies from this thread recommended her.

JKP,
Sorry to hear that you r not loving your new eBay bangle and cannot be sure if it's grade A or B. It's always better to return the bangle in this case (since you can) and use the refund to buy something else that will be better suited. Our journey in acquiring new Jade pieces is not easy, but that makes what we have and those new ones coming even more special as we hv put in so much effort. Cheer up babe. ;)

Petals,
Omg! I love the green marquis pendant & ring. Very nice. Looks so modern yet traditional at the same time. And your kitchen. I'm drooling. It looks like some thing out from those posh home deco magazine. Will be so nice to hv that much space to cook in and hv the family hanging around the island. Beautiful.

Dynasty,
I love love love your triplet lavender beauties. If you did not explain, I would hv tot that Emerald came from the same boulder as peaches & violet.

NYC Princess,
Your blue bangle is very nice. Such a soft sky blue. I don't worry about stone lines as I find it contributes to the 'natural-ness' of the Jade stone. Wish I can something like that in future.

This thread is a treasure with all the info and pictures to learn about jade qualities. I love it.

Thanks for the site link Faithgrace7! I wish I could see jade like this everyday.

Modeling pictures of Baby and Lippy! Conditions are outdoors, overcast, sun going down. I really like the look of the two thin bangles together. Not as pretty sounding as 2 of my thicker jades, but this is a very, very feminine look and a good balance for me since I'm so short with short forearms.

I can see where this would look absolutely divine with better color/grain/translucent jade.

Baby and Lippy look very pretty

Thanks 3jems. Moonstones are my birthstone, so by almost 40, I've collected quite a few. Moonstones are like jade in that prices have soared in the last few years. They used to be more affordable, and now the supplies really are dwindling. So if you see a good moonstone at a descent price, grab it! One has to be careful not to confuse moonstone with rainbow labradorite, which is a close relative, but much more abundant. They look really similar though.

I like the clarity of the moonstone. Somehow when I look at it, there is a feeling of femininity & softness. Oh dear. Looks like collecting moonstone is an art form too. Really not easy these days to find nice gems without getting conned 1-way or another. But I'll keep this in mind in case I come across nice moonstone pieces in future. Always good to learn more. Thanks for sharing Claire. ;)

3jems, your right about the gem market being rife with fraud. It's incredible! finding a good quality untreated, unheated sapphire or ruby is very hard. Emeralds are also heavily treated. Heck, even topaz, zircon and diamonds are treated. The best way to learn how to avoid getting scammed is to hang out on Pricescope for a while. That site is full of hard core gem, jewelry lovers and professionals. There is so much info. there and they build up anyone's gem IQ tremendously.

Congrats on your new additions. Baby & Lippy look so pretty stacked together. Good choices. Definitely no worries about color polish on those bangles.

NYC princess, GORGEOUS!!! She's just beautiful! I can see that she's blue, but like so many blue jades can morph into green and lavender shades given the light. Ugh, i just LOVE that bangle!!!

Thanks, Silver Mom!

That's so true. Much as I love sapphires, rubies & emeralds, I've not yet dare venture into those waters. At least for diamonds, I can rely on the GIA cert. Think I'll need to check out the Pricescope web you hv recommended as I've been thinking of getting some gem pieces (other then diamonds as I've got too many diamond pieces already).

3jems, you can go to the colored stone forum on Pricescope. They have lists of recommended vendors, they can help you understand ideal cuts, find precision cutters, understand hue, tone, tint, secondary color valuation and saturation and all of that gem jargon. They know who is doing what in the industry. You can post pics of gems and jewelry that you are thinking of and give you extremely professional opinions before you buy that other sales people will not tell you. Great, great resource when you are ready to venture into those waters.
