It will be good if we can post our Yukon Snow Bangles once we have received ours. Allan's work is very good. I do hope Allan sends it out soon. I am so eager for its arrival.
Yes, you guys should post your beautiful bangles. We would love to see them daily. It brightens my day to see all the beautiful bangles and how they grow and mature and change daily. Please post often.

3jems, does this mean the colour is on the exterior since it's not 'injected'?

Hi DaisyShadow,
Yes. The color is on the exterior only. Just a surface polish using color powder. Nothing done to the inside of the bangle so it's still considered Grade A natural jadeite. Cos the polish is on the surface, after wearing the bangle for some time, this polish will wear off and can see color fade.

Hi Ladies,

I'm back. Seems like my Jade journey has lots of turns and twists. Sorry for the story... It's gonna be long winded. Here goes....

Today I met up with UJ about the bluish green bangle I shared about. Had lots of fun viewing all the Jade bangles, trying out a few and resisting temptation. She is so kind to even share with me on how to differentiate between dry and moist Jade, coarse grain versus fine grain, etc. It was a good Jade learning session. At no point did she hard sell or push me to buy anything. Very friendly & knowledgeable seller. End of the session, I decided to get the bluish bangle.

As usual, I will bring the bangle to NGI for tests (my husband insists on doing this for every new bangle). Was quite a long wait, many customers today. When it came to my turn, the teacher (老师) commented :" your bangle is natural Grade A. But it has color polish." I was confused. Huh?? Color polish? So I double asked him, does that mean it's grade C? He said :" No. It's natural Grade A. Nothing done internal. Just that during the polishing of the bangle, the polishers added some colored powder. After some time, this color polish will fade off."

Oh dear. So I quickly contacted UJ with the findings. She was surprised that the bangle had color polish. Apparently, some polishers do use color to enhance look of some bangles. Usually she can detect it. Except on this case, this bangle managed to escape her scrutiny. She was very apologetic and refunded me the money in full. I'm so appreciative that she has done so and I believe this was an honest mistake. So, after next week I'll be meeting UJ to return the bluish bangle and I may get something else instead. ;)

Anyway, just to share, these are some pics of the bluish green bangle.

P/s: has any ladies here ever come across or heard of color polish for Jade? Pls share your experience.

This is the first time I heard of color polish. I wonder what the bangle colour will be after the polish wears off. I think I will need to bring bangles bought from uj for ngi testing. Did ur husband say anything abt this?

Wow, never heard of color polish. So grateful that you are sharing this knowledge with us. Can you also tell us what she said about dry and moist, coarse and fine grain and anything else she taught you. You are so lucky that you went to have your bangle checked. I will ask the jewelers I know if they have ever heard of color polish. Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for sharing with us.

Luckily UJ already refunded me the money in full plus NGI verbal fee although the bangle is still with me. She said it's ok to refund me first and then I'll return the bangle to her when we meet after next week. Based on her quick refund and apologetic sms, he feels that this could be honest mistake. Thankfully... I was so scared he will ban me forever. :D

As the bangle has natural bluish green base, I think after the polish wears off, maybe the color will be lighter and not so bright? I also wondering what will happen. But I don't want to test it. Rather get my money back. Lol.

Yes it is better not test it.. I suppose uj will be careful with checking her stock.

Hah. I think most of us here have never heard of color polish. I'm happy to share this experience with everyone. Just wished my Jade adventure will be more smooth after this snake year has pass. Lol. :D

Ehhhh... For the Jade knowledge session, I try my best to explain. Abit difficult without bangles to compare. For dry bangle, it's more opaque & internal structure appears grainy.Moist bangle has more translucence and internal structure is very small, fine grain & smooth. Coarse grain bangle is like coarse sugar. You can see bits & pieces of grains in the bangle. Whilst fine grain bangle looks very smooth & clear. Oh dear... Don't think I'm doing a good job explaining. Next time when I see her, I'll take pics. Then I can do pictorial explanation. Lol. ;)

3Jems: Color polish??? (where's that fainting emoticon?) :faint:

:pout:

One more thing to worry about!

How do they do it? Do they add it to the wax? Mixed in or added on top? Is it frosted like cake? Or is like powdered donuts? Is it like food coloring?

Or more like fingernail polish?

I wonder if it hurts the jade over time?

Did they mention if when it fades the polish will still look glassy and just more pale or will it start looking "dead" like B jade?

Did they mention how to detect it? Will it respond to UV? What does it look like when it is louped? I just bought a 20x belomo loupe... I guess the next thing to order is that dual wave UV light.

When you return it to UJ, will you please ask her how she usually detects the color polish?

And if she lets you do pictures, that would be awesome!

3jems, this means the seller has to screen all her stock now...

UJ mentioned that she will not take in colored bangles from her supplier if she can see it when she does her checks. But for this bangle, she did not check with her microscope as she never suspect it will hv color polish. Think I should go buy TOTO & 4D lottery tomorrow. What are the odds of me getting a color polished bangle. Some more now the teacher (老师) at NGI recognizes me for the wrong reasons. I'm the gal who keeps buying the wrong bangles. Lol. :p

Wow! Good questions. I also dunno anything about this color polish. I was too stunned at NGI to ask further questions. Not to mention kinda embarrassed. So many customers were looking at me.

I will print this list of questions and ask UJ the next time I meet her. I am also curious and want to find out more. Hopefully she lets me takes some pics. Will make it far easier for me to share the info with everyone here too. :)

i seatch online for color polish, can't find much information, maybe later when i have time will check chinese sites out, see any information about color polish jade... Tyvm for sharing 3Jems.

Hi GS,
The bangle does not feel powdery or anything. Just a normal smooth polished surface. The only thing that differentiated this bangle from the rest was that the color looks darker & more saturated. When UJ shone a torch the the bangle, there was still translucency. Guess we probably need a loupe/microscope to see the powder.
Guess this is pretty new to most of us. It maybe uncommon now, but in the future it will be a common thing for manufacturers to color polish their jade.
