Junkempo, congratulations on ordering from Allan! Yes, I think he's gotten lots of business after I started sharing his work. Honestly, his work speaks for itself though. He is such a nice man too. Hoping I can arrange to meet him this summer when I go out to California. Maybe that's 6 or 8 of us that are jade sisters with jade sister bangles from Allan! (Not including anyone who reads but never posts.) I haven't heard anything about my earrings yet, but I'm sure I will as he finishes up these last orders.

About those twin light violet bangles, those look like grade A to me. Love how they are pictured against the lace. They really have that mysterious, light lavender/pink color.

It will be good if we can post our Yukon Snow Bangles once we have received ours. Allan's work is very good. I do hope Allan sends it out soon. I am so eager for its arrival.

Hi Ladies,

I'm back. Seems like my Jade journey has lots of turns and twists. Sorry for the story... It's gonna be long winded. Here goes....

Today I met up with UJ about the bluish green bangle I shared about. Had lots of fun viewing all the Jade bangles, trying out a few and resisting temptation. She is so kind to even share with me on how to differentiate between dry and moist Jade, coarse grain versus fine grain, etc. It was a good Jade learning session. At no point did she hard sell or push me to buy anything. Very friendly & knowledgeable seller. End of the session, I decided to get the bluish bangle.

As usual, I will bring the bangle to NGI for tests (my husband insists on doing this for every new bangle). Was quite a long wait, many customers today. When it came to my turn, the teacher (老师) commented :" your bangle is natural Grade A. But it has color polish." I was confused. Huh?? Color polish? So I double asked him, does that mean it's grade C? He said :" No. It's natural Grade A. Nothing done internal. Just that during the polishing of the bangle, the polishers added some colored powder. After some time, this color polish will fade off."

Oh dear. So I quickly contacted UJ with the findings. She was surprised that the bangle had color polish. Apparently, some polishers do use color to enhance look of some bangles. Usually she can detect it. Except on this case, this bangle managed to escape her scrutiny. She was very apologetic and refunded me the money in full. I'm so appreciative that she has done so and I believe this was an honest mistake. So, after next week I'll be meeting UJ to return the bluish bangle and I may get something else instead. ;)

Anyway, just to share, these are some pics of the bluish green bangle.

P/s: has any ladies here ever come across or heard of color polish for Jade? Pls share your experience.

3jems, thank goodness you went to have it tested! Now that is completely new to me. I can imagine it now that you have described it. I can see it now on that bangle. So glad you told us about this because from now on, every time I see a bangle with a saturated surface color, I will be suspicious it. Especially with the oil varieties.

Sorry to hear this 3jems. It's the first time I heard about color polish. I learn something new today. On the colored powder, does it feel powdery when you hold it? How to detect it?

3jems, your jade journey has been exciting so far. At least you're not stuck with the bangle! We learn so much from purchasing experience, both pleasant and unpleasant! I'm VERY grateful you taught us all about this color polish. Thankfully it's kinda rare, according to the tester.

Yah. This color polish caught me completely off guard. I'm so glad my husband insists that I go NGI for checks for every new bangle. Am happy to share this experience with fellow Jade sisters. Just wondering why my jade buying is always such an adventure. :p

Yes. Next time, we must be super cautious buying bangles with colors that looks too dark & saturated. Better to err on side of caution.

Hi GS,
The bangle does not feel powdery or anything. Just a normal smooth polished surface. The only thing that differentiated this bangle from the rest was that the color looks darker & more saturated. When UJ shone a torch the the bangle, there was still translucency. Guess we probably need a loupe/microscope to see the powder.
