Druzy, definitely wear it more. Since I've been wearing my blue ones, one on each wrist every day, they have changed. The more opaque one has gotten deeper blue, and the icy one has become more embodied and almost stormy looking. With my green/yellow/red antique one, the green areas have gotten more to be an intense blue green instead of just green. So cool.

Unfortunately so, but these days jade with translucency like those chalcedony bangles are way out of my budget :sad: That and I don't think you can get pink jade.

I'm actually quite tempted by a rose quartz bangle... they're so pretty!

This one is only $75 :love:

I had a look at chalcedony bangles in Taipei's jade markets for comparison. Somehow the glassy quality of chalcedony is still different from how icy jadeite looks, though from a distance they do look similar. Chalcedony has a slight magnifying effect I think. But agree with you, for its price it's a sweet deal. ;)

Ooh Clairejune, can you please post a picture of your tri-colour antique?? Please??

That will literally be "Fei Cui", as jadeite is called in Chinese!

Fei = Fe (iron, red)
Cui = Cr (chromium, green)

Will be an eye opener !

Chalcedony and agates are quartz and have a hardness of 6, which is just a tad less than jadeite, but they are much less tough and thus are more brittle. It's the toughness not the hardness which makes jadeite durable. All that said, I've carved agate with my tremel tool using diamond tipped points, and it is amazing how tough it is! I'm sure if you gave quarts a strong impact though, it would shatter.
BTW, last night my B jade lavender bangle fell from my dresser onto the bouncy wooden floor....and shattered into 8 pieces! Talk about the compromised strength of B jade, sheesh. I am a little sad because though I stopped loving it after discovering it was in fact B jade, I thought of it as an expensive accessory. Oh Well.

Sikat- Jadebuddhashop looks legit, their prices are similar to JOJO, but I don't know anything else. I've wondered the same thing.
So sorry to hear this. But now you have an excuse to get another one.

Thanks very much ladies :)
I really don't care much of round or flat of a bangle as long as I love the color. But I do feel that the flat one is more comfortable on the wrist and easier to put on :)

OMG... those bangle pics above is droolicious :cloud9: I like them all....lol I don't know chalcedony can look that beautiful too ...now where o where can we get them... :)

Haven't seen these bangles anywhere else other than Taobao. I guess like jade, most non Asians just don't appreciate their beauty :love:

There are several sellers selling chalcedony, agate & other types of bangles on etsy. But i dont know how reliable they are , whether the bangles are real - or can u even have fake chalcedony/agate (like treated jade)?

Druzy, I will post as soon as I've got it back from repolishing. Silver mom, I like your thinking!
About fake agate....It's a very plentiful material like serpentine. I doubt there are fakes other than glass. Most often the red 'carnelian' is dyed.

How much do you think is a good price for a medium translucent, semi dark blue Jade bangle? I realize that I don't have a picture yet but am considering whether I should buy it or not so I don't have it in my possession. Sorry I don't have a picture. How much would you pay?

I would say you could get a quite nice one for 2500-3500 at Jojo. Just saw a few lovely ones there. If you want to go for more opaque, then 700-1300. You could get a fabulous one between 6,000-12,000.

OK went to the jeweler and brought it home. What do you guys think of this one. She wants $2700.

I tried looking for the blue ones but couldn't find them. If it is not too much trouble could you post them? Maybe they sold before I tried looking for them. Thanks so much.

Oh Silver Mom, it's beautiful!! Truly, that one great because of the color and the translucency. It almost looks like unheated aquamarine. I'd be glad to find what I was referring to with Jojo products. I'll do it now.

You are the best Clairejune! I wanted to compare it. Do you think the $2700 is worth it. It is a lot to me. What do you think?
